Hwayi: A Monster Boy (2013)

Both of these movies have an extremely similar feel and mood to them; they're both depressing movies and moderately bloody (moderate in comparison to even more gruesome movies I mean, if you don't like the sight of blood at all don't watch either). Both revolve around children being raised as killers, but whom rebel against their "parents".

Kim Go Eun and Yeo Jin Goo are both excellent (as are the rest of the casts) but them being able to balance their roles as killers, yet still hold sympathy gets you emotional. They are both dark movies and in most ways predictable yet still thrilling. They mostly feel like the same movie to me, but genders reversed though Hwayi does have more of a deeper storyline.

It's dark, centered around crime and very, very sad. It also has a huge plot twist and a star-studded cast. Really recommend.

I guess I could say... Both of these movies try to ask the "Are monster born or made?" question.

Both movie have same kind of concept. A boy is forced to became a monster. If Hwayi: A Monster Boy presents the story of a 'not-wanna-be-a-monster' boy, in Monster, the lead became a monster by his own choice.

Mental? Psycho? Try growing up with a bunch of disturbing parent with a killer instinct. Award winning movies, a list senior actors + yeojingoo that should be enough to keep u interested.

Both quite dark and really well made.
I'm in love with these kind of movies that bring up the question of how monsters are made...

Posing as a School student, is really a murderer. I found both movies to have similar feels and were overall good watches.

The dark movie, involve family but odd. Trust or not. Grow up together but hate grow as well. Serious, slow pace, great movie

Both are kids raised by adoptive parents but are they really what they seem? Both are good and the acting is fine in both although Hwayi is superior

Although they have different plots, both of the male leads were raised from a young age by killers. They both have to kill people.

Both equally tragic and action oriented although Hwayi is more sinister from the start. Heavy bromances and messed up characters trying to fight their love for a messed up family. In Hwayi it's the family that kidnapped the main lead and raised him to be a monster. In Secretly the two spies act like parents toward the younger kid, even though he's a trigger happy north korean spy raised to be a monster. It's heartbreaking to see them love each other and also be forced to destroy one another.
