This is my first 2020 drama (I categorize CLOY as 2019). So this drama is like my entrance drama for this year 2020, but I was not at all happy/glad/satisfied with this. I think the reason why I did not like it as much is because of the first season, and I can't help but compare the two. The first season was much more convincing compare to this season. One thing that disappointed me as well is the hair style of Ahn Hyoseop, why oh why? He was so handsome in the drama Abyss and I don't really know what happened here. I like Lee Sung Kyung here, I have seen improvements in her acting skills especially that it’s my second time seeing her as a doctor. I like this drama, but I felt that something is lacking.

Great show

My take on this show might be different than most growing up in a medical family. This show is amazing it shows the human side of doctors good and bad, we see doctors as life savers and sometimes we see them as god like but they are human. If you truly listen to what Master Kim says no matter how he says it, there is a deep realness and compassion behind him and his band of fighters. They are fighting to save lives on and off the table. He’s trying to save his doctors from themselves while trying to heal himself. Stop always thinking inside the box on what you see and go deeper. What we think are rights and wrong can be warped and this show throws that at you, watching how they all struggle together as a team. You also get to see the political and power and money side, these are areas as regular ppl we don’t get to view but it is real. Major hospitals are run like businesses and the ones that suffer are the little ppl that’s never shown. And as hard as this show is to swallow at times it’s all very real and scary. Think about it you are no longer a patient you are a dollar sign to a hospital and yes I do understand it takes money to run a hospital I see it daily. The one thing I can say it was the compassion of the doctors in this show even if they are actors they delivered a great performance, I almost started to see them as true doctors. The dialogue throughout this show was touching and watching everyone grow into their own was truly remarkable. So if you read this review, I only as you keep and open mind about what you are seeing and think about the realness of this show…

I have NEVER been so affected by a television show. The emotions still flow whether I hear the theme, catch the last 10 minutes of each episode. The attachment is so profound for me. I watched the show on the first run, off and on. I love the reruns. I could watch over and over. The show had the perfect mix of characters. Great job. Never boring. it has real contents and the act so real, the emotion thrives high.

I rarely cry and this show really ripped my soul out. I love how they stick together, the loyalty behind the odds, the challenge they face everyday,

OMG! It was awesome! I am an ER physician in my country but what I saw in the whole series were much much more than what I am/we are doing in our hospital. And I would like to congratulate your medical consultant for a job well done. I'm not seeing actors, I'm seeing doctors in motion. And, the whole plot itself, it's so delicately woven that it feels I'm watching the actors right before my eyes. I cried with the organ donor/donee story, but I was sobbing with the death of President Yeo. Kudos to all of you. I'm really, really hoping for Doctor Romantic SEASON 3.

I came from watching season 1 romantic doctor and i thought that nobody could top the duo/chemistry from the two main leads from last season. However, season 2 takes a great turn, and the vibe that the two main leads give is just a whole different one from the last. I'm super impressed by the plotline, and ofcourse Master Kim never fails to surprise and impress us. I really like how they focused on the supporting characters as well (omg second couple) and the introduction of the new characters (Dr. Bae!!! and Dr. Yoon) I really look forward to them having a third season (hopefully this will be likely!) I think the story hasn't ended yet and there is so much potential for the future. All in all, amazing cast (old and new), amazing OST per usual, and amazing plot. I am so impressed this is probably the best medical/surgical drama ever produced. Props to Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim!!!

As a fan of the first season, I was veryyyy skeptical about this one. I don't normally like sequels and I always end up approaching them with a huge bias waiting for them to fail. Which they usually do. However, this is an exception. I'm afraid I might have even liked it better than the first! Hear me out ok!

As a med student myself, I can't stress enough how comforting Cha Eun Jae's character is to me. I have never related to a character this deeply in my whole life. She gives me hope. Even if it is placebo. Still. Hope is hope. You might think her character is a bit of an over exaggeration but it's not. I have thrown up in lab before. I can't watch operations being performed. At one point my nausea was so bad that I ended up getting a nasty ulcer which I'm still suffering the consequences of. I also thought I might not be good enough for this profession after all. But I am good with my theoretical and application stuff. I have faltered and questioned many times over. Cha Eun Jae does exactly that. She represents me and my worst fears. Her arc of dealing with these issues and eventually overcoming these is nothing short of inspirational to me. Lee Seong Kyung is the perfect choice. She portrayed her beautifully and realistically.

However, what I want to talk about most is how the romance was handled. The whole reason I'm writing a review for the first time is because I haven't seen anything like it. was blown away to bits by how phenomenally nuanced and consistent the writing of this romance is!!! The fact that there isn't even much romance by the normal standard yet there is sooooo much when you look deeper is beyond anything I've ever seen. It's not a romance driven by chemistry (even though the chemistry between Lee Seong Kyung and Ahn Hyo Seop was so intensely palpable it'll leave you breathless!!) It's a romance you can understand before you can feel. Their progression happened naturally and very organically. And each of them was kept true to their own personality. No one changed for anyone. They simply complemented each other.

She is someone who is used to people telling her what to do. She strives on compliments and encouragement. She needs to feel needed. Thus, she meddles in his business. She tells him what he should do. She encourages him and compliments his work. She tells him she needs his help. She does so because this is who she is and what she knows not because she's trying to impress him or score some brownie points. Similarly, he is someone who's used to being left alone. He's used to being called out. Thus, he calls her out! He bluntly and frankly points out what he thinks is wrong. "Does it make you feel better to blame others?" And then he lets her figure the answer out on her own. He points out her shortcomings while simultaneously letting her know he will be there to back her up no matter what her choice is. Again, because this is what he knows.

So what happens is that each of them brings what they know which happens to be what the other lacks and needs. Not because they're actively trying to impress each other but because this is genuinely who they are! In other words, she ends up being the most honest when she's with him. She puts a front for everyone but when she's with him, she knows there's no need to pretend because he's just going to call her out on it since he has all figured out. Same for him. He knows there's no need to hide what happened because she's just going to pester him about it and nag him until she gets her way. Again, because this is who they naturally are. Is this genius writing? I think so!

Not only that but also the fact that despite her constant meddling, she not once jeopardizes his integrity or tries to change him. Of course I'm talking about *that incident* where she not only encouraged him to pursue what he thinks is the right thing, she HELPED him do it against everyone. And she did so without a second thought. Imagine being Seo Woo Jin, someone who is used to people ridiculing him, insulting his righteousness, calling him derogatory names for it. He wouldn't have blamed her if she stopped him. In fact, he expected her to at least negotiate a compromise. We all expected that. But this girl ends up choosing him and standing by him unwaveringly. Upholding his morals with him. AND apologizes for what happened. How could he not fall for her?

The flip side to this is that /she meddles in his business/. She is all up in his life. Which is something he is not used to, which naturally causes him to push her away, which in turn feeds into her worst fear of not being needed, which causes her to be very hesitant about accepting her feelings toward him and they get stuck there. And it's brilliant.

This is not the story of instant love and sudden heartache. This is the story of two people falling in love with each other's rawest form. Not the idea of each other. Not a fantasy. Not who they become. Not what they would be become. Not for fascination. Not for intrigue. Just .. them. With their flaws. With their scars. With all of them.

Furthermore, it was refreshing to see the lead romance not take precedence over their own development. These two took time to deal with their own issues. Heal from their own trauma. Go through everything they had to go through. Then came to each other. With a clean slate. Baggage already unpacked and sorted. Yes, they definitely helped each other through the healing process and were each other's backbone and support system. But it was she who faced her mother. It was he who faced his demons. Standing on their own while knowing the other has their back.

Also the fact that their characters had the complete opposite arc. He started alone, pushing everyone away. She started as the sheltered, coddled, can't do anything on her own, mama's girl. He ended up surrounded by people he genuinely cares for, learning how to ask for help. She ended up on her own, making her own decision, becoming independent.

And this is why I loved season 2 more than 1.

To wrap things up, yes, I 100% recommend watching Romantic Dr. Kim 2.

It's worth watching!!

As a medical student, i loved it!! The best thing i like is that they show everything like surgery , injuries etc. And i like that it does not have those romantic lovey - dovey moments which quite ruins my mood especially if the drama is not romance based. It does have romantic scenes but it is not their primary focus.

This drama makes you feel like you are also a doctor working in Doldam. Each day with different emergency cases, with hospital issues. I love how all doldam doctors and nurses are so dedicated to their work . I got into the drama so much that i even cried while watching some scenes.
As for characters , perfect cast as each actors did a good job especially doctor kim (Han Seok Kyu), Seo Woo Jin (Ahn hyo Seop) and Cha eun jae(Lee Sung Kyung) . And i loved the characters as well .
The story is not boring at all and thoughout the drama is a thrilling experience !! And because of theis drama i got to know how hard it is for doctors especially surgeons. Also this drama is quite educational?? Cause i got to know how patients are treated, their diseases and disorders, etc. Family moments are also there in this drama. I really recomment this drama!!

Han Seok Kyu played Teacher Kim / Dr. Boo Yong Joo / Kim Sa Bu, like I said in the first drama series, this actor is exceptionally good. I love how the screenwriters wrote this character and for HSK to act it out. It was so good! Ahn Hyo Seop another Doctor character Seo Woo Jin, I mean this actor did his part, very believable. I loved that IDGAD attitude. Lee Sung Kyung who played Dr. Cha Eun Jae, OMG an actress that can play what she had to do... OMG when you watch this, understand what she had to visually do for the audience. She was awesome. My favorite again in a supporting role. Kim Min Jae, I want to sing He so Fine, He so Fine! I love the character he played... those dimples tho and his eyes *Boom*! Can hardly wait for Dr. Romantic 3! Thanking all the main and supporting actors/actresses, this drama couldn't have made it without all of them... This medical drama was a team effort. Thank you. I cried in this one.

who can believe this scenario ?

the Female Lead character has nothing to do in an hospital, she faints in surgery LOL ! nobody can buy this script ! I dropped at episode 4, there is no hospital in the world for her, and no one is firing her ! Im sad for Ahn Yeo Seop who is very good.
i liked the season 1 but this one is too much, it s supposed to be an hospital, not a kinder-garden !
We still have the main lead as teacher Kim, but of course we have the bad Director Do ... he is very good actor (i loved him in "beyond evil"

huge minus that they put rusians into the plot lmao

idk its a trend in Korea or ?( or huge sarcasm )) but many tv series include Russians in the plot lol and usually they are drunk or dancers in club or ..whatever lol ( but professions or behavior which shows them not in the best way ahaha ) ( .. and that a BIG TRUE about them in real life ) but its such not cool for korean showbiz*** ... ya better they put in the plot Americans or europeans !!
why its not cool ? bc no one I swear , wanna see such nationality which characterize as a drunk or easy going girls or etc ( which are totally true ) so , I think ppl prefer to see , how say correctly , some no problematic nationalities which has many real stereotypes ( lol I even cant say that they all are stereotypes bc most from all are real things ) so ahah I didnt like that in the plot !!! huge - ! .. its only about plot and not about political reason coz .. its sucks in the plot .. ya better was Americans in the hospital or ** coz for its shame to see such behavior and thoughts that this "is cool " to show it in ...
hope in other series Russians will not appear again lol

I'm glad I watched Season 2

Although it has been probably been a year since I watched S1, I do not remember it leaving such an impact on me. I connected much more with this season, with the characters and the trauma cases they had. But in general, the goodness of the seasons are pretty similar.

There are a few shortcomings to this season and its plot, but it certainly did not overwhelm all its great aspects. First of all, I believe it was highly character driven. It was obvious that SuSam, Eun Tak Sam and Mr. Jang got much more screen time this season because they were loved and appreciated and I generally enjoyed their parts.
Something I was very happy about in this season is that Kim Sabu is much much much softer. In the first season, I found him frustrating and unrealistic many a times. After having been through that, I believe he now understood that it is much better to communicate with people. He always gave well-headed comments and feedback. I was satisfied with his role and happy how he got along with everyone. It makes him deserve all the love and respect he receives. Although he pushes himself too much, and does not treat himself the same way he treats others, it seemed okay.

As many people have stated, this is not a romantic drama, the main couple really put off their relationship for as long as possible, and when they got to it, it seemed fake and very untouching. He liked her from their university days, and I believe his love for her didn't change much. She acknowledged his interest from the beginning, and she acts upon it, but I didnt see her once even looking like she actually likes him romantically. I am not sure if it's the character's way or the actress's. Honestly, Lee Sung Kyung acted in the exact same way as she acted in Kim Bok Joo, and even though it's probably her charm, in my opinion she acts with her face. All cutesy and pretty all the time. She is very conscious of how she looks, and what her face is like, so her expressions are somehow much more external. I am no expert, but it's the style of acting pretty people tend to have more. (Ex: Lee Dong Wook).

On the other hand, baby boy Ahn Hyo Seop was very in touch with his character's emotions and background. He was always tearing up and having all these tiny expressions swell up from inside, and that made me feel like he was a wonderful actor. I enjoyed watching him throughout the drama, especially when he cared and worried about Kim Sabu.

Lastly, Park Min Guk was the most relatable character to me. From the beginning, it was obvious he is a good man internally. He wasn't the blind, stupid villian like Dr. Yang and Do Yoon Wan. It's just this man has studied hard, and worked hard to build a name for himself, and he knows people have great expectations for him. But then he is torn between his inner voice of conscience, and people's view of him. It seemed like he truly is a weak and soft person on the inside, and he can in no way battle Kim Sabu, and no matter how much he realized it, he tried to still fight back. Problem is, he was fighting in all the wrong ways, and heading into the wrong direction because of Yoon Wan and whatnot. I really wished the writer redeemed his character earlier than that, and gave him more chance to show his true self. I loved seeing him taking responsibility and being a true doctor. It was such a huge and sudden jump that he also aims to turn the hospital into a trauma center. As an actor and a character I believe he deserved a bit more redemption. When he came back into his office crying, I felt happy to finally see him like this, but also very torn because he is just a very good person with very bad decisions. I hope I get to see this character in more main roles in the future.

Do I wish for third season? Not really. But I would still watch it if it comes. I really hope they pay more attention to the plot and leave Do Yoon out because I am sick of him.
