The best one from the same writer

A love so beautiful, Put your head on my Shoulder, and The Love Equations is written by the same writer.

For me, The Love Equations is the best among the three. The pain that the FL went through was so realistic. It would all pull us back to the time when we first broke our hearts, how we got over it (or thought so), and how we found love again after that tremendous pain. It's not just a fluffy drama. It dealt with young love, how it can be sweet and bitter at the same time.

Prepare to cry a couple of times and feel that as if your heart is being quenched in your chest while watching this drama.

A sweet story about an introverted science sophomore and an outgoing - and slightly out of her mind - literature freshman and a wannabe author who stumble through various mishaps and miscommunications to finally truly finding each other.

It took me a while to get into the drama, mainly because I couldn't get the fact out of my head that Gong Jun was whole 9 years (!!!) older than Liu Renyu even though in the drama itself, they played characters just a year in age apart. Don't get me wrong, Gong Jun truly did look the part, like a 19-year-old student, but I just couldn't get the reality of their actual age gap out of my head.

But, gosh, were they cute. Zhao Fanzhou was so in love with Zhou Xiao, it was precious to watch. And he had the patience of a saint, really. Their story was wonderful to watch - until the moment they got back together after their break-up. Just like in the writer's other drama - Put Your Head on My Shoulder - the conclusion was a miss. It was like she knew very well how to build them up as a couple and then break them apart again but she had no idea how to get them eventually back together and in the last two eps or so she kind of failed to capture their previous cuteness, even though the actors tried really hard with the material they were given. Oh well...

My favorite storyline was Zhao Fanzhou's family arc. His mother's bipolar disorder, his fear that, since it's a hereditary illness, he might fall ill too, his fear of hurting Zhou Xiao, both mentally and physically, if he ever ended up behaving like his mom... Gong Jun absolutely excelled in those scenes! It was amazing to watch and if for no other reason than for this it's a drama worth watching.

Cute, Funny & the Guy sees the Girl First

This show was really good. I don't have much detail to write but trust me when I say that it is a good show if you like these Asian college romances. It has a lot of great writing and acting, there are some twists of course but it is worth the ride. I loved the main characters but Simon Gong who plays the lead guy is so freaking cute and quirky in this show. It has a lot of funny moments but a few intense ones as well. Let's not forget the fact that he sees her first. I mean how many of these shows are like that? Not many!! It was so refreshing. He doesn't seem like the type to be like that but ugh it was so cute and well done. Overall it was soooo good. Watch it :)

Stunning debut

This was such a sweet, fun story, and qualitatively very much better than I expected. The dynamics of the story are reminiscent of Put Your Head On My Shoulder with the ML falling fast and hard while the FL remains oblivious for a long time. And what an FL! She is CLEARLY the alpha in the pairing, which is rare enough as is, but for an 18 y.o actress on debut to have such a role, and to excel at it, was a real joy to see.

With a few episodes to go I was going to give this Drama 8/10 but then noble idiocy made its expected appearance. The way the Drama handled it caused me to bump its score UP to 8.5.

So often in Dramas, noble idiocy is dragged on for ages, then brushed off as a passing irrelevance of no real import, but this Drama did neither. The noble idiocy itself was wrapped in a relatively short time (yay), but then the CONSEQUENCES were shown to be very serious, particularly the emotional impact on the injured party and those close to them(yay+). The person guilty of being the noble idiot even suffered physical pain as part of their penance. This was VERY refreshing, especially the dialogue given by the injured party, clearly explaining the reason the "noble" idiocy was nothing of sort, but was selfish and stupid.

All in all, this was a very satisfying and sweet watch, with a powerful romantic OTP, intelligent dialogue and bright and forthright FL and a great performance on debut by the lead female. Who also has a lovely singing voice :)

Would like to say that I’ve definitely watched both spin-offs and of course would definitely not this this series. I really like how in this series they mention the 2 other spin offs, makes you reminisce the time when you watch the other 2 dramas. This series is especially cute but there are also times when you get so annoyed with ZFZ and can’t believe I cried so hard watching this as well.

Ps, I was this close to having second lead syndrome

Definitely a hit! Would also rewatch this if I have the extra time!

Simple

I watched this drama because I'm currently waiting for 2 new drama's to finish airing and subbed, Also because Simon Gong is in it, I really do enjoy his acting.

This drama was pretty simple, I loved the story to be honest, it really wasn't bad, but i did skip through a lot never the Main Couple, but the secondary couple and charcaters. I absolutely love how the guy chased the girl, it made this drama really nice seeing this.

As much as i did skip through, the acting was good. Simons Gong has thing thing with his eyes, he can literally make you feel so sorrrry for him, or fell in love with him simple by his eyes, that's pretty unique and i love that about him, it makes his acting special. The FL she's pretty new, but i love her character in this, she wasn't annoying at all, and she wasn't boring, she wasn't a ditz either.

The chemistry was okay, it was there but it was simple okay. There were a few things that i thought, oh my gosh are you kidding me hahahaha.. but hey, it was a good watch, i finally got it off my watch list. I think if they had change up some stuff, this drama would have been much better.

If you wanna watch to occupy your time, bored, in between a drama you're waiting for (like me) then go right ahead and watch.

Never expected the story to be like this when i first watch it. At first i think it's like casual, light drama about school life & the cast future. Never expected there will be a bigger problem in the end.

This drama makes us think about what will we choose when we know our family one have mental sickness that can hereditary to us. Will you give up your loved one so (s)he can choose another happiness or will you stick together with (s)he so (s)he can help support you...?

In this drama you can also watch the difference choice of love. Is it just secretly love & protect someone, is it became some obsession to prove you better than the one (s)he choose or will you let your love go when you already try but find out it's not fit you...? Whatever your love choice only you know what best for you.

In this drama we also can see the way parent protect their child. We can see the pain Zhou Xiao (ZX) dad feel when ZX has been hurt by Fan Zhou (FZ). Mostly in other drama is like it's only become the main role problem & solved by themselves, never shown how it's effected their parents. Here you can see how actually our feel affected our parents.

ZX is one of the most insensitive girl in the drama i've ever watched. As a girl she can't even understand the code given by the boys... The way Catherine Hsu describe her is quite accurate. ZX is "very independent, crazy with her friends, chill about most things, and unassuming when it comes to romance". But seeing how ZX and Fan Zhou (FZ) begin their love is so funny in a way.

What i like about this drama especially they're not complicated the plot too much with the childhood friendship and also love rival between Yi Chun (YC) and ZX, or FZ and Cai Ya Si (CYS) just enough damage done by YC here and there to brake FZ and ZX.

Re-watch: interesting story, good cast but not intrigue my interest to re-watch

One of my fav main couples for sure. If I had to compare this show to PYHOMS or ALSB, I just couldn't because each story was different and unique in its own way and this show is absolutely that. It's about 2 odd ball leads that are different but similar in every way, they end up falling in love and the rest is history. There are a little bit of complications here and there, which is what to be excepted from most Chinese shows tbh. I love shows that don't have very much drama, I love when there's no complicated relationship, well I mean when there's no one coming in between them vigorously lol they were all about each other and I loved that. While they're falling in love, they're growing and learning from themselves and I love when things are just easy going. I hate any love triangles/second leads but honestly, there was barely any of that so I'm thankful for that. It's your average youth/college drama but I love the mystery/forensic science part of it and I also love the sismance relationship going on, it honestly made the whole show for me. Perfect amount of friendship, love, drama in our youth.

The ML plays a great keep to yourself kind of actor, it's fitting and he's handsome so that's just great too. He does great at being quiet, sweet but awkward, which is similar to the other dramas, the FL was tough but ditzy and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE DETECTIVE CONAN SO THAT MADE THE WHOLE SHOW FOR ME. I really loved that the ML, handsome, sweet, caring, awkward and was all about the FL and he was all in, even though both of them didn't know how to handle certain things and could be immature, that's what happens with a first love but their chemistry was out of this world and I loved the relationship they had. I loved the bromance, the sismance and I absolutely despised the SML. I really truly just don't like him as an actor so I almost didn't watch this because of him. I don't know what it is, he's probably a great person but his acting sucks, he's childish in every show, this show is the same and he really just is pointless. Same for the SFL, she's a jerk in the show but other than that, everyone else was decent.

The music was decent for every part, I liked it.

Overall, I hated the SML, I wish he did not exist in this. I hated the SFL, she also can suck a toe. It was overall a great show, with great detail, worth binge watching and the kisses/relationship was just phenomenal. I would give this a 10 but I'll settle for a 9 because like every other slice of life, youth drama, it just lets me down when they toss in random drama on like the almost last episode. lol. I hate it. But, worth the watch. I really liked it, it's all predictable anywho. But like, DETECTIVE CONAN BRO.

Very enjoyable show.

At first I wasn't too sure about this drama. It took me a while to watch the first 10 episodes and I was thinking about dropping it. I am really glad I didn't and ended up sticking with it. The rest of the drama was absolutely amazing in my opinion. As soon as one episode ended, I had to start watching the next. The whole cast is fantastic. They all did an amazing job. Simon Gong has been a favourite of mine and was the reason why I ended up watching this in the first place but I ended up liking everyone involved. The FL mother is amazing. I've seen her in a few things and have always thought she does an amazing job with her characters. In this, she is perfect. I wasn't too much a fan of FL guy friend or the girl who wanted to be with ML but the actors played their parts well. I definitely recommend giving this a watch.

It's okay!

The Good
⌲ There is a lot of quality fluff in the second half.
⌲ The good OST
⌲ The pretty picture
⌲ The ending is fairly good, though it's not anything I have not seen before. (the special episode is included in this)
⌲ FL's parents were quite wholesome.

The Average
⌲ The chemistry between the leads
⌲ The side couples were not all that interesting.
⌲ The comedy is not the strongest.
⌲ The triangle/square is not very offensive, but it could've been even better.
⌲ The early episodes were quite mediocre.
⌲ ML's parents
⌲ The badminton training sessions (the competition was better)

The Bad
⌲ The third worst separation plot I have ever seen
⌲ There are three and a half absolutely trash episodes.
⌲ The plot involving ML's hereditary mental disorder is wrong on so many levels.
⌲ ML's robotic acting in the early episodes
⌲ Pathologist doctor has done a c-section to help a cat giving birth.
⌲ The wasted potential that is the Detective Club.

It's blah

I always give dramas a chance, but I couldn't even finish this one. The chemistry sucked. The story was cliched and it just didn't seem believable. It's the first drama I ever NOT want to finish. I don't recommend it. I live for the cutesy first romance type of dramas. But this wasn't cutting it. The actors were good looking, the female lead was cute, but just like the female lead she was mean and a bit bossy. It's not something that resonates well with me. What I like most about female leads is that they're a bit clumsy, naive, but sweet, caring, and nice to all of their friends. The female lead takes them for granted it seems like and is mean to her childhood best friend. The male lead is just as arrogant, and the second female lead does petty things to get revenge because she can't get the guy that she wants. And the other male lead is so full of himself I wanted to punch him in the face. Usually it's cute, but this was overall annoying, and I don't recommend watching this title. It can be skipped.

Oh my gosh...I love this show so much! A Love So Beautiful is still my favorite, but I think this show is better than Put Your Head On My Shoulder. It's definitely worth watching and it's unbearably cute. I like the show because although it has all the C-drama cliches, it's still interesting and even though we all know they are going to end up together since it's a drama, it's fun to see how it happens and the challenges they face. Also, the comedy is good and I love the actors...although the real-life age gap between the main leads is a bit troubling.
