I watched the first episode of this when it started airing but I wasn't feeling it so I put it on hold. I thought this was going to be one of those overdramatic love triangle thing and nothing gets properly resolved.

Whew boi was I wrong.

Dark blue kiss feels different compared to other BL dramas as it portrays a realistic view on a gay relationship that has its conflicts and misunderstandings with the addition of not being out to the public. And in this drama, they do address how hard it is to come out as it is not the same for everyone.

I think what I liked the most about PeteKao is that they balance each other well and they have actual proper conversations. In other words, they know how to communicate with each other. This also shows that they've dealt with many problems/fights before but what matters is they sit down and talk about it. Communication is key!!! (Other BL dramas, please take notes)

Hmmm... SunMork... I mean I love these two but the way their relationship bloomed which was that night at the bar.... maybe it's just me... it lacked a bit of climax?? (Well, we all know another kind of climax happened hA ha ha) Anyway, it's good that Mork and Sun found each other as they both need some warmth in their lives.

The female characters??? I love them all!!! Sandee, Manow and Kitty?? The holy trinity omgg I absolutely love that the girls were written in a way that is likable to the viewers. We don't get to see that very often in BL dramas so that's quite nice to see.

Pete's dad and Kao's mom??? They're the parents that everyone wish to have. It's super heartwarming to see how supportive these two are with their children. It makes me feel kinda bad for Non... this kid deserves a better guardian that will lead him to a better path. Non's dad should realise that the way he treats his child is no different to how you forget and leave something in the oven to burn. It's okay to discipline your child as long as you're not overtaking their freedom in having their own aspirations and goals of what they want to do. Teach them, talk to them, be with them but don't act like you're never in the wrong.

Overall, this was like a breath of fresh air. I wish to see more BL dramas written in a similar way and not just "I'm not gay. I only like ***".

So another GMMTV allstars production wraps. I was really excited for Dark Blue Kiss when it was announced. I had seen Kiss me Again and liked the Pete and Kao pairing and the hint that Mork and Sun would be more was really motivating as I have a love for the rough and tumble character getting together with the rule follower. The GMMTV allstars can get me to watch pretty much anything though so I was here for Tay.
Pros: I really enjoyed the Mork and Sun storyline, it felt very natural and any issues they faced felt very grounded in reality.
Rain was also a pro for the series as his character wasn't just comedic relief, even though he was very funny. I worried that his love plot was going to take up too much time in the drama that already had 2 couples to deal with but it never did and I was grateful.
Cons: The production/editing team was on crack when they created that intro. It was ridiculous and felt so off from the rest of the series. A better intro would have done wonders for my score.
The OST was lacking. I personally liked the theme for Mork and Sun but other than that the other songs were just loud.
GMMTV has a habit of making communication issues the storyline for couples that are already established and have a second season. I know DBK is based on a novel but because we had already seen PeteKao it felt like it was there usual brand of not being able to write realistic conflicts for established relationships.
The timeline was another con as it left a lot of viewers confused about what the order was within the kiss series. Did Kiss the Series happen and is it canon? Are Sandee and Thada a thing? Why didn't the others know about them?
Overall:
The series was decent and short so it has a good rewacth value if you were a fan of the Sun and Mork relationship. I think the secondary couple was what kept me invested week after week. The acting was great the whole time and While it wasn't perfect I did really enjoy the series.

The story was above average for me. I don't have much to say because I don't want to spoil here. But mind you, it's a must-watching movie. Their chemistry is spectacular, that's why they're one of my favorite couple. Their acting is also convincing. There are scenes that needs to be address, but I think it doesn't matter that much. There's not much of an invisible onion here, yet, it's more of a comedy for me.

Final thought, definitely recommend this. I hope they'll make another story between them. Dark Blue Kiss ended the story in a great way. I love it..

When GMMTV wants a drama to hit home, they hit it out of the ballpark!

"Dark Blue Kiss" made me laugh, made me cry, and made my heart go in a variety of directions. While most BL dramas (even the really good ones) shy away from discussing real LGBTQ+ issues, "Dark Blue Kiss" explores the stress, fear, and unfair consequences of living in the closet. The story is also a good lesson-learn on not trusting slimy "innocent" people and controlling one's temper. It also explores the slow and adorable process of love growing between people who care for each other. The show also features some tongue-in-cheek and slapstick humor to keep the feels from getting too intense.

This review wouldn't feel complete without briefly mentioning one of my favorite scenes. The show's visual storytelling is en pointe at certain moments, particularly during a two-location scene that's comparing the different things that are happening to Sun and Mork. It's so artistically done, and is really refreshing to see in a genre that normally relies on long, single-perspective scenes. It is confusing, and bittersweet in an extreme sense of the word.

Waste of Time

It's just another drama about a toxic relationship with issues that could easily be worked out through communication and acknowledging insecurities, but that doesn't happen. My biggest peeve is that they(Pete/Kao) are supposed to be adults, but they are acting like children who don't know how to talk about their feelings. The main couple had me bout ready to chew bricks. Pete is selfish, insecure, and doesn't care how his actions affect Kao; Kao is a coward and a pushover, who acts willfully ignorant and doesn't have the balls to voice his concerns to his boyfriend. I ended up skipping through most of the interactions between the main couple and only watching for Sun and Mork because they actually had the maturity to talk out their issues and work on their behaviors.

A waste of actors

This review is intended to offer you my opinion of the series. It is not intended to sway you from watching it as I believe that we all have different tastes and opinions. I personally like to review stories to give people a different perspective.

The story was the continuation of Kiss Me again the Series. I don't think for a minute this followed Kiss Me universe and I say this because the main couple, Pete and Kao, are totally different from Kiss Me. So personally, I wouldn't count them in the same world.

The acting was sub-par to what I know some of these actors are capable of doing. Tay Tawan, who I find to be one of the most adorable Thai Actors out there, was the only one to give his character some nuance and development, but even so, in the end, the script fell flat. Newwie, who I found so cute in Kiss Me again and in Sotus, lacked so much acting in DBK. The whole puppy/doe eyed and sometimes flat facial expressions distracted me from the drama. Initially I could empathize with his character, but after a while I just couldn't connect with him and it had a lot to do with his acting.

For the second couple, I wasn't really into their story, but it was watchable. Again, this was due to a very juvenile script and the Telenovela treatment they got.

The supporting actors were honestly great. Even Non (AJ) was so good at being the "villain" that some people really hated him, so I say great job to AJ for being good. I mentioned in the comments before that the real MVPs in this drama were Rain, Kao's mother and Pete's father. I found them to be really well casted and I liked that they supported each boy.

Music was bad. And I mean, really bad...and it's a shame because I learned a few episodes back that the director was the same from He's coming to me (an amazing BL drama and I highly recommend it) and in that drama he and his team picked the best and most nostalgic music to go with the script/story. I would have loved better music for DBK.

Look the drama wasn't horrible, but it really lacked a lot. It could have been a great BL if they had left out at least 70% of the Non drama and focused on Kao's coming out. I find that would have been a better story-line. I still say it's watchable if you have nothing going on and want to waste some time for a new BL, but it was disappointing to me considering how much hype it was getting.

Edgy and on point....

This drama actual has true love feels. This show felt more realistic than you could imagine.

It had all the right emotions, laughter, love, tears, the chemistry between pete who is super hot and kao is very well depicted who love each other despite the vast differences, pete being rich and kao middle class. This romance is scene is more focused than the adult scene, and also a bit more mature compared to the other drama. Non role was well played despite his behavior between pete and kao.

The chemistry between sun and mark were also interesting and cute, his continuing nagging and shouting was his way of exploring his love to him.

I did binge was this and actually watched nore then once, cuz it was really that good.
I loved pete possessive of kao, he was really cute and did have his reasons. Kao at times was a bit difficult but understanding of his situations.

It would be awesome if sun and mark got there on drama, as they were really interesting.

Overall this drama was really good

Sun and Mork are show stealer

April 12, 2021

Dark Blue Kiss gives a realistic perspective of what couples face. It has it flaws but overall it was a pretty good show to watch.
As much as I love Pete and Kao, Sun and Mork really stole the spotlight for this show. I feel like they showed better development and growth. They also revived the show from doom in my opinion.

Pete and Kao's storyline were a bit condescending in my opinion. As much as I love their chemistry, I could feel the frustration between their misunderstanding. There are certain points where I just wish these two would open up more and which they did. But there's so much part that could have been cut down from their misunderstanding and show more growth of their relationship.

Pete's Dad and Kao's Mom are some of the best parents to exist in the BL world. I love these two so much, I wish I could be like them if I decide to have kids in the future.

Sun and Mork, hands down strong asf chemistry. Their flirtation just gives me the feels. Like every time Sun tease Mork, HOLY MOTHER OF DAMN. Sun really loves him. Of course, they had misunderstandings as well and I got frustrated about it too. But I was so interested in their storyline more than our main couple. Sorry, not sorry!! Also, their moments on the last episode got me wheezing especially when they talked about their respective position. I be like hmm y'all be like that huhh...

Also, we stan a supportive friend group!! They are the best, they really help each other to communicate. They are actual squaad goalssssss

I wasn't aware of Kiss Me Again or Kiss the Series prior to watching Dark Blue Kiss. Having been a couple for almost 3 years, we get to see the love story of Pete Kao continue to evolve and grow. I love Tay Tawan's acting as he was playing the exact opposite of his character in person, and he delivered it perfectly. The chemistry between him and New is off the charts here. The story holds true to what a gay man goes through in life; staying in the closet, coming out to friends and family and the fear of acceptance from society.

The side story of Mork and Sun adds to the drama, with them going through different sets of challenges and conflicts. I also loved the OST sung by Tay and New. The music in this series is strong and of good quality.

I always enjoy a story that ends happily, and DBK did just that. I hope to see DBK Season 2.

Upon watching all the series that includes Pete and Kao as a character... I would say that for me, Dark Blue Kiss is the best BL so far for me... Acting wise, music, story... The best... The way the series tells the stories of the main characters is the best... Story telling is at its finest... Watched so many thai BL series and i would say that this is so far is the best among the series ive watched. The intro is this series will get you excited to watch this series... Simply well thought off...

Second lead syndrome

I am not a TayNew fan, but after watching them in Kiss Me Again (the only couple worth watching in that entire show), I felt tempted to watch this followup to their story. But boy, the PeteKao here is not the PeteKao I loved in Kiss Me Again. They are particularly stressful to watch, especially Pete, who acts so much like a child that I want to bash his head in.

THANK GOD the creators decided to carry over a side couple from Kiss Me Again to DBK -- Sun and Mork. While everything turned out to be a complete mess on PeteKao's side of things, we take refuge in watching the volatile relationship between SunMork flourish. I would even dare say that I would rank DBK much lower if SunMork was not included. For this reason, in my review I shall only focus on SunMork's part and pretend that PeteKao's story died along with Kiss Me Again , lol.

ACTING/CHARACTERS: Podd Suphakorn... by the time DBK was released he was relatively new in the drama scene, but how he played Sun was exceptional! I would even rank his performance as the second best I've seen in any lakorn. In Kiss Me Again he was quite shallow and uninteresting, perhaps due to the fact that he wasn't given much material apart from being a nagger to Mork and Rain and driving a wedge between Pete and Kao. But when his character finally found a solid ground here in DBK, Podd really showed us how much he is capable of doing acting-wise. I wish I could say the same for Gawin, but it felt like his acting here was merely reactionary and he was only going along with whatever Podd was doing. I am not saying that he delivered a bad performance, it's just he could've done more to make his character stand out because without Sun, his presence in the serie becomes bland.

STORY: Same old enemies to lovers trope. Sun is the disciplined type, whereas Mork is into roughhousing. Their personalities crash entirely, but the mutual attraction between them prevailed. Nothing new to see here. But it was a delight watching these two try to reconcile their differences because at the end of the day, they still want each other so badly. How Mork tried so hard to avoid fights but violence seems to make its way to him, while Sun, being the confident gay, did everything in his power to tame the beast inside Mork, going so far to abducting him.

Production design wise, you would need to watch Kiss Me Again before DBK in order to truly appreciate the aesthetics of the Blue Sky Cafe. That was a major upgrade, and it is one of my most favorite sets I've seen from GMMTV. The scenes in the mountains were also a delight to watch, and like I've said in my review for 1000 Stars, director P'Aof does outdoor shoots particularly well.

Soundtrack wise, DBK has the most addictive intro which I bet no one would even dare skip. I also liked how they actually filmed a scene specifically for the title cards; usually GMMTV series would only show a montage of clips as an opening, but no, DBK did not go that route, which makes it stand out from the rest! If you are observant enough, you can also see that the intro itself serves as a summary of the entire drama. Apart from the intro, DBK has two theme songs, one sung by TayNew and the other sung by Gawin. Tbh the TayNew song is something I ALWAYS skip because 1) singing is not TayNew's forte, and 2) it had nothing to do with the series at all. By contrast, Gawin is an underrated, excellent singer and the song itself carries SunMork's flow of the story too well.

One thing I wish they could've improved upon is how they handled the Manow problem. Any average viewer would know that Manow was only introduced in DBK as that girl who tries to "un-gay" one of the leads (around 90% of BLs have this character, I swear), but ultimately she was not used at all. I would probably say it was a great decision to leave her in the sidelines and focus on Sun and Mork's relationship, but without her playing her role as a potential homewrecker, I thought the Manow character should have been completely removed from the serie.

All in all, a very satisfying conclusion to the SunMork story, and I will honestly defend the PoddGawin tandem with my life because they just click with each other. One could only hope that GMMTV creates another series with these two paired again.

Believable love and amazing chemistry

I have to say, I only watched Kiss Me Again for the PeteKao parts and Dark Blue Kiss really satisfied my ship. In every relationship , there are times where you hide the truth from your partner because you don't want to hurt them or put more strain onto the relationship - I feel Kao so much in most of the episodes. Although the show also makes you see Pete's POV where you can't get anymore possessive than you already are especially when your relationship is deemed as forbidden. Kao coming out to his mom was the best coming out scene I've ever seen and the chemistry between Tay and New in this show keeps me coming back to rewatch. It shows from start to end how Kao was the patient one, always motivating him, bringing the best out in Pete and Pete worshiping Kao's personality all the way till end. The love was believable, the conflicts made me sad and the ending made me smile with joy. Although, they could have given a better ending for Non. After all, he's just a kid who is deprived of his parents attention. Come on, if Lhong from TT can have a better ending, I think Non can too.
