100/10 SUCH A GOOD DRAMA
I love this drama so so much. Easily the best drama I've seen. And I've seen A LOT. The side characters are so lovable and the chemistry between all the characters is so good! I love the relationship between Lan Zhan and Wuxian, and I could watch them together all day everyday. The music is phenomenal and really adds such a beautiful effect to the show. Every song has me crying everytime I hear it. And theres so many scenes I could watch over and over again and never get tired of. So yes, 1000% I recommend you watch this right now. You will not regret it.Cet avis était-il utile?
THE BEST DRAMA I EVER WATCHED!!!!!
So far, this is the only historical drama I ever watched and rewatched!! Although I watched it around last July'21, it was never too later for me to start binge watching it that time and I don't regret it. Little did I know that this drama could be undoubtedly addictive to the point that I finished it within less than a week and rewatch it countless times. Really love the story and its plot as it drives me to watch every single episode one after another. The OSTs are superb and the Main Leads acting as LWJ & WWX are awesomely talented, so does other actors who did well in their roles! I'm in love with XZ and YB after watching this drama and has been following and supporting other dramas or shows they're in. Highly recommend to watch this drama. You will never regret it, because I myself still can't move on from this drama!!Cet avis était-il utile?
Some people were disappointed because It's technically not a BL like the novel because of the censorship but there Bromance is amazing and It will most likely make you cry with compassion and laugh with joy.
The main actor is absolutely brilliant and makes the character come to life in such a way that makes you adore him and want to protect him because you grow so attached to him. The music is also stunning and a delight to listen to.
In case you haven't seen It yet, I highly highly urge you to do so. My only regret with this drama is that I didn't watch It sooner.

Wow.
Is it a perfect drama? No. But I give it a 10 because it averages a 10.The first 20 episodes were hard for me to watch because I had a hard time figuring out what was going on and why so many seemingly unnecessarily long scenes were there. I felt some things could have been truncated. BUT, when you get to the last 10 episodes or so, you understand why they did the first 20 episodes the way they did. Thus, the later episodes justify the beginning ones.
I would put this drama on in the background just to listen to the music. It's that good. I play both the zither and the flute, so listening to music was especially touching. Love, love, love the arrangements and duets. Love how much they emphasize music is important. (Haha, shameless music teacher here making a plug why everyone should learn at least one instrument.)
Superb acting, especially from the two male leads. You can't imagine anyone else playing their roles.
While I don't prefer the danmei genre, I must say MXTX is an amazing story teller. She doesn't waste words. The plot from beginning to end fits so beautifully. It's almost as if she is the mere scribe of a story unfolding. The consistency of the characters she creates is mind boggling. After reading her novels, I find it hard to focus on other translated wuxia works. But then again, 1) it's hard to find English translations of wuxia/xianxia novels and 2) I simply need to read more of them to make a more compelling judgement.
In short, while I have this drama a long break, I'm glad I came back to it and finished. I like dramas that make me ponder, and this one definitely definitely does that.

True review
the long bad reviews, what a waste of your time and energy! Wei wuxian really would laugh about this. The overall score really does speak for itself. I will give those people the benefit of the doubt though for 2 reasons. 1. Most only watched 3-4 episodes and gave up! (Or lied and said they watched it, but the review exposes that lie to those that have watched it all) How can you rate anything on less than 10% viewing? ALSO LOTS OF THESE REVIEWS GIVE SPOILERS WITHOUT WARNING THAT ARE FAKE !!!!2. I almost gave up (sad to admit), but my kids encouraged me not to. …… so I’m a middle aged woman straight. My oldest child, 17 is bi and gender fluid. My daughter 13 is pan. Between us we’ve watched so so many bl and straight Asian dramas. We love kpop and all have different ults and have different biases in so many different groups. We’ve seen BTS live in uk twice. In summary, The untamed remains all our TOP favourite. You literally have to stick with it. Please don’t review without watching it all because you’re wasting your time and just angry because you don’t get it yet! I don’t think I’ve seen a bad review from anybody who has actually watched every episode

Wei Wu Xian and Lan Wang Ji stole a place in my heart ~~~
The story is beautifully built. Each of the narrative arc is interesting not only for the storylines but as well because they participate so much to characters development. There are a lot of clues spreaded through the script that results in highly satisfying payoff. The characters are very well written: they remain consistent during the whole saga and their motivations and actions make sense, which given the length of the show is quite an achievement in itself. The pace of the series was very good, you feel immediately compelled to watch the next episode. There might have been a bit of overexplanation scenes toward the end (it can feel slighlty repetitive, especially if you guessed some of the revelations like I did)...But at the same time the ending offers so many rewarding and great moments for the viewer that I was really happy with it.The acting was really good. Especially regarding the actors playing the central protagonists: Wei Wu Xian and Lan Wang Ji. Wei Wu Xian was my favorite character and Xiao Zhan portrayed him with a lot of charm, candor and charisma...The variety in his acting game really seduced me. Wang Yi Bo who portrayed Lan Wang Ji had a difficult job as his character is very cold/reserved but he managed to do a lot in terms of micro-expression and you can see the evolution of his character as the series progresses. The secondary cast was also very convicing in incarnating the support roles (such asJiang Cheng, Jiang Lan Yi, Wen Ning...so many interesting parts who shined through with amazing and emotional scenes.) Overall, the ensemble cast was very good with maybe some weaklinks on a few very secondary roles.
The production value was good but lacked in some way. I'm probably nipicking because I loved this series very much but I truly wish they had a bigger budget for some scenes (the battles ones), the fights in small numbers were good and special effect were okay in overall. But clearly there were some obvious limitation when showing scenes in an impactful / big picture way, the grandiosity was not there (or at least not as much as I feel the story deserved). I wish the special effect make up would have been much better because it was frankly not good. The music was lovely: mainly the musical themes, as some of the characters plays instruments to fight, the soundtrack theme was of utmost importance. It was very nice and pretty.
I would strongly recommend this to people looking for an historical saga splendidly built, with amazing characters and relationship developments as well as some great acting. It is an adaptation of a Chinese BL novel (which I have not read -yet) and despite the censorship in China regarding those, they manage quite successfully to make the viewer understand the subtext behind some of the relationships.

This started my obsession with Asian dramas
This story is epic. On a Lord of the Rings level of epic. But unlike Tolkein's story, where the endgame is foreshadowed from the start, when you think The Untamed is heading toward an inevitable conclusion through a predictable route, you'll find you're wrong. Enough complexity and powerful emotional impact to make you want to watch it again, once you finally understand how all of the pieces fit together (or to find that out). A good adaptation of an amazing novel. Since I didn't come to it as a BL fan, I'm okay with the romance being more suggested than explicit. Ah, it's so sweet! Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo are perfectly cast, as are all the main supporting cast.Cet avis était-il utile?
My all time favorite drama
When I wrote this review, this drama already become viral and very popular across China and South east Asia. Although this drama is categorized in idol drama (most of the lead actors are C-idol), but the quality of this drama is not child’s playStory: I watch this drama before I watch Joker movie. Unexpectedly, this drama share the same theme with that movie, psychological theme. Before I watch this drama, I only heard that this drama is based on BL (boy-love) novel, hence it’s controversial. However, because of China’s strict broadcasting rule, the script had been edited. What I want to say is this drama not only present us the controversial sweet bromance, but more over the main plot is the recent world most concern about, mental health awareness. There are no 100% evil people, yet there are also no 100% good people. People judgement about right or wrong are subjective.
Acting: There are no doubts that Sean Xiao and Wang Yi Bo delivered their best effort as 2 main role. Their actings are superb, even though they are young actor who has less experiences as main role. Other young actors also has good acting skill, specially the main villain character. He was scary and gave me goosebumps every time I see him.
Music: The OST are beautiful, specially the one Sean Xiao and Wang Yi Bo sang together. Music score are also exquisite and match the scene very well
Rewatch value: After watch this drama, I do shipped Wei Ying- Lan Zhan couple. Their interaction is so sweet and sincere. I always want to rewatch their bromance.
Overall: I recommend this drama if you not only fond of romantic drama but want to watch deeper story about human’s mind. Although this drama’s setting is fantasy, but the story is related to recent days. It’s an extraordinary one!

I drop more shows than I complete. Compelled to write my first review ever.
This story has never gotten me more enthralled and as my title suggests, I am an extremely picky watcher. I never re-watch shows or movies either as I tend to loose interest in things quickly, however, the untamed has me searching up the other versions (I'm currently following along with the audio book with the Manhua) and consuming more content of what I think is a highly re-watchable show.I am more than impressed after originally stumbling across the drama on Youtube without knowing a thing about it, in fact I am suffering withdrawals.
Character Roles & Acting
The main reason I love this drama and now regard it as one of my top (if not one of, it's currently the absolute top) would be due to the two leads. I have never seen the two roles casted more fitting than I have in this drama; their expressions, body language, lines and also the voice dub is absolutely perfect for the characters of WWX and LZ. Similarly, I have come across like-minded comments in other reviews about The Untamed.
While Wei Wu Xian is eccentric, usually always smiling, lighthearted and pulling pranks, but when it comes down to the ultimate sacrifices, his maniac laughter and expression while drowning in sorrow absolutely steals your breath away. The voice dub actor also should be applauded for the range of emotions displayed, keeping up with the energy Xiao Zhan brings onto the screen.
On the other hand, Lan Zhan is stoic, elegant and expressionless. But don't take expressionless for bad acting —behind that poised composure, lies the subtle in change of expression (sometimes it's no more than his eyes just moving) that reveals a hint of what he is feeling. His character is written exactly like that and Yibo delivers. It hard to know what he is thinking, nobody seems to get behind that impenetrable barrier he sets, only his biological brother knows his hidden desires while Wei Wu Xian consistently forces himself upon the constraints of Lan Zhan's patiences, producing the best scenes between them.
It honestly doesn't get better than Xiao Zhan and Yibo!
I can forgive the lower budget CGI (as that is a given for a lot of WuXia dramas of such massive production, they don't simply have Hollywood budgets) as the story line and acting completely takes my mind off of it.
The sub plots too, though minor, are equally as interesting and overall paints the bigger picture of the setting they are in.
Thank you to the Untamed, I absolutely love the drama and actors & actresses, and everything about it!

THIS IS A MASTERPIECE!!!
At the time I am writing this review is 09/30/2020And I finished the series on 08/23/2020... but I still can't forget about it.
THIS IS A MASTERPIECE! I can't describe it in any other way...
Everything about this series is Incredibly beautiful, I can't describe the feelings this series makes me feel. I really don't want to spoil anyone but I really recommend this piece of art...
If I could change one thing, that would be the special effects... but I know they could not do anything about it, because they did not have the budget... but yk...
The cinematography in this series was amazing! The places where they filmed were gorgeous and unreal, I couldn't believe that some of the places were real!
The acting was... AMAZING! My favorite actor out of all of them was Xiao Zhan, because he expressed the character's feelings really well and made me feel what he feels! I think If an actor can make u feel what the character is feeling, then he did an extremely good job. I am really attached to this character, because I feel like I went through everything with him... I cried, laughed, suffered and loved together with him. This is valid for every actor in the series, because everyone was just amazing! For example Wen Chao... I really REALLY hate this character, but u know why!? That's because the actor did an incredible job! I thing If the actor can make u hate a character this much, then he executed his job perfectly!
And I really like that even though there was not even an "I love u", or something in the series, u can see the pure love the two main characters are feeling for each other. The way Lan Zhan looks at Wei Ying makes me think that what a relationship really needs is trust and love... you don't need any sexual contact with your partner for the relationship to work. And the chemistry between the main characters made the show even more enjoyable. Even though Wang Yibo doesn't have that many lines in the series, he did an extremely good job with the facial expressions and the emotions he expressed thru them. He really is an amazing actor!
Another think that I really like about the series, is how much they put accent on the music. The BGS is amazing and the OST is gorgeous, I just can't get enough of it! My favorite song from the OST, apart from Wuji, was Huang Cheng Du by Zhou Shen, I really recommend it!
I really want to talk about how gorgeous the plot was, but I don't think I can do it without spoiling anything, so I would let it be...
This is everything I wanted to say ( I think).... I hope u liked my review!
Have an amazing day/night!
(Sorry if I missed-tipped something, but English is not my first language...)
