It's a very specific negotiation story. It's also quite shocking. You don't know what's happening underneath the surface of what we as viewers get to see. Until we are given more facts. It's a puzzle box. A very intriguing puzzle.
Acting was great by our two leads. The story was very well put together. You root for those you root for. That can change minute to minute in this film.
Hyun Bin put so many layers and such depth into his character. I knew there was only one way this could end at a certain time. I just didn't give up hope. Also just saying I've never been a huge fan of Son Ye Jin, but I was pretty happy with how she acted out her role. I'm not sure how I would feel had it been anyone else now.
I'm glad I watched it. I don't think many movies can do what this one did for me emotionally. I was also on the edge of my seat. Constantly worrying and thinking about what what will happen next.
I think it would take a little more time before I can watch it again. I mean its way too fresh.

The negotiation is a police drama that features Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin in a story about a series of kidnappings executed by Min Tae-Ku in which a negotiator in crisis will be involved. The plot is quite predictable and simple, there are no plot twists that surprise, as well as most of the characters are flat and with nothing to rescue, but still manage to entertain for two hours and maintain a decent suspense that hooks the viewer. And how did it do it? Thanks to two performances that take your breath. As for the characters there is no depth in them, the protagonist Ha Chae-Yoon is sentimental but stubborn; the villain on the other hand is apparently vile and bloodthirsty, but he does everything for a "noble" reason that puts him as sensitive and more of an antihero than a bad guy. In general, you see a simplistic and empty character writing, that without the amazing acting would be completely forgotten.
Now let's talk about the performance, which makes all of the above fall into oblivion for a second, Hyun Bin had a typical character and took him to the screen giving everything of himself, his mood swings, the want for violence and the power of Min Tae-Ku could be felt from the small square of the video-call. Also, Ye Jin gives a nice touch to a character who would otherwise be clumsy and intolerable. Both have what they can do with a plot that must be carried completely by them, with their conversations and their relationship. And I'll have to applaud the chemistry that the two have in the only 5 minutes they face each other.
Finally, and as I mentioned, the plot is based almost on the relationship between the main characters, because, although it is a police movie, there is very little action and the flow of the story is led by the conversations between them, so thanks to the stellar performances it ends up well. It's two entertaining hours, mainly for the performance, because the story delivers nothing more than a mediocre plot. It's something to see if you just want to spend time and give yourself a guilty pleasure with very good performances.
ALSO, if you like Hyun Bin and the undoubted chemistry it has with Son Ye Jin, then it is a must watch, there is nothing more to decide.

Gripping, Not a boring moment. Funny and Brilliant at times.
All right so the reviews on this one are pretty confusing. while some say the plot is predictable the others say it was entertaining. Let's set things right shall we?1. Firstly, i'd say this movie is not predictable. Yes it's a hostage situation which naturally means it could predict a few things but to call it entirely predictable is not fair.
2. There was a turn in the film which was entirely breathtaking.
3. The leads - hyun bin was amazing as usual but he takes it a notch up with his antihero role. Son Ye Jin was alright. Despite showing her as intimidating in the start i'd say her role fizzles out to being a little emotional yet endearing.
4. The plot. Now this is what has me in knots. There's so much potential to it. The director chose to leave it open ended. There are a lot of unanswered questions and not in a bad way. It'll almost make one wish for a sequel to find out more about Min Tae Gu. The plot's nature is as such that it could lead to the formation of theories about the questions.
5. This movie clearly demarcated its boundaries and chose to exectue them and i'd say till that extent it was good. But it would've been the best movie out there if it also concentrated on developing the questions in the story.
FINAL VERDICT:
Definetly worth a watch. Hyun bin shines in his character and succeeds in making one root for him. Decent story. Not really predictable.
Personal opinion : made me emotional a few times. Was actually successful in getting me riled up. And thats not just because its hyun bin but because the plot had potential.
Cheerio

If you want to watch this for Hyun Bin, good choice because he is captivating in this until the very end. If you want to watch this for Ye Jin, she did a good enough job with what she had.
On to the review, this movie keep you entertained quiet well. Aside from our two leads, however, no one else is interesting or worthy of paying attention in terms of character. Going in, I assumed I would get more of a villain versus hero situation not politicians and police are all fucking corrupt deal. Everyone was literally playing into Min Tae Goo's hand that it annoyed me that they gave him redeemable qualities near the end. He is still not a good guy but when you compare him with the extremely disgusting politicians/police who put hostages lives on the line, murder as they please, and then cover it up, Min Tae Goo is a real anti-hero.
Chae Yoon could've just played a cop rather than a negotiator because when she need to check her emotions the most, she failed miserably. I mean, I guess that is one of the reasons she wanted to quit because she clearly isn't cut out for that line of work. She did the best she could though given how freaking corrupt nearly everyone was around her.
If you are looking for a semi-thriller movie, this is worth a watch.

The Standard for Crime Movies
I actually came for the cast; I haven't heard praises of this movie for it's plot. I definitely thought that all the cast was fit for their role. One thing that concerns me is the amount of characters. I think there were just some characters that didn't add any value but were just there because the actor/actress who played that character was famous. However, I think the plot was quite clear-cut and concise. At times, I wanted to skip ahead a few minutes, but overall the movie was great! As the tags were crime, thriller and political, I can't say I was disappointed. I think this movie is perfect and the standard for it's genre.Cet avis était-il utile?
I feel like there weren't many negotiations...
So how do I feel about this movie? I feel like there weren't many negotiations. Someone was constantly interrupting the negotiations Chae Yoon was trying to conduct. And this led our main character to break down, cry and beg hysterically for the hostages to be released.Hyun Bin and Ye Jin did a great job playing their roles. They portrayed their characters' sudden changes of mood very well. Besides them, many of the characters that appeared in the movie were just an addition, meaningless to the plot.
This is an enjoyable movie to watch once. Pretty predictable.
I cried a little.

Sluggish Justice 4 de Korean Corruption
A police woman & de kidnapper play a game of cat and mouse; dat's nothing new. De movie is abt corruption within de highest ranks & even if de heroine thinks dat dis can't be glossed over & go unpunished nowadays, de audience will probably doubt that. What's good is how de revelations constantly change de characters' interactions, though.VERDICT _ Even though de tension is mainly created through de conversations & de danger in which de hostages are in, there are also some action scenes. Laudably, these don't drag on & fit well in2 de rest of de movie, even though we are clearly not dealing wid an action movie.

its quite interesting. i am a little bit sad that min tae gu died. i already make my own new scene for the negotiation 2 HAHAHA. i wish min tae gu didnt died so he can have a drink with ha chae yeon .this movie is kinda make sense . that the "special people" is always the reason of everything. blunt to upwards and sharp to down. i need more support role in this movie like mr. ahn. the movie should be in a mini drama? because so many things that can be revealed. its a bit like a flat movie because too much scene that not to necessary. i learned new things from ha chae yeon as a negotiator. well yeah thats my opinion. overall its good to watch

Is he really wrong?
The negotiator tries to negotiate with some people because mins sister stole some files and got caught then min wants justice for her so he holds some police officers and a family in hostage he somehow tricks the police and the agents that he is in Taiwan in reality he's in Korea the Negotiator was the first one to meet him he was very hard to control because he's flirting with her for a second then he gets serious the negotiator doesn't know one secret so one hostage dies because he thought she lied so min pretends that he and the hostage commit suicide because they activate the bombs but it all happens in Taiwan as a result everyone thinks min died but the negotiator finds something wrong so she sees that the sun was up at the wrong time of the day because in Taiwan there shouldn't be brightness so she goes to everyone to confirm if He's in Korea and she was correct so she goes into the building were he asks people about how wrong they were and they should die but before he could do anything he gets shot but the negotiator isn't finished yet she makes sure that mins sister gets justice.
