Both focus on the school romance with the awesome cinematography! The main story focuses on a couple, while the side story focusses on the other. In both the movies the male lead is madly in love!

I felt these were similar because they both were super sugary romances with a school theme. I felt the vibe was similar. Others may disagree but I felt so. Plot wise was different but I think they were on the same romantic level.

Masaki is about to move to the U.S. with his parents, much to the dismay of five girls who all like him in different ways. Tomboyish Takako always gives him a hard time; Haruna is a childhood friend; Alisa has fancied him since a shopping trip in nearby Shibuya; Naoko is still readjusting after a long spell in the U.K.; and Yumi likes practicing basketball with him at night. All wonder who his "special girl" is, but Masaki isn't saying.

Without giving anything away, there's at least one scene that is near identical to HanaDan as well as certain scenarios/situations that feel similar.

The bare bones story is quite similar, shy girl meets not shy guy who helps her come out of her shell and they end up improving each others lives in the long run.

The lead female characters are similar in that they are both socially awkward and insecure but by befriending the male lead, they find inner strength and both the male and female leads learn things about themselves about become better people.

Both are school set movies with a socially withdrawn/awkward FL and a popular ML with brightly colored hair. Both MLs have tragic backgrounds.
