Such a nice show. I loved watching the family relationships between the siblings, parents, and extended family. While the series was 52 episodes, each episode spent time showing each character and their life, so the episodes actually flew by. Hyeyeong and Cha Jung Hwan were my absolute favorite to watch! Hye Yeong had soooo much attitude and character that I couldn't help but love her from the first scene to the last. "Inner peace" was probably her best quote!
Mi Yeong and Jung Hee were okay (and I know Jung Hee's story was super important to the overall plot) I just didn't love their romance all too much.
Overall, a very heartwarming, emotionally packed family drama. I would definitely watch if you value and understand living in large extended family households and enjoy a little bit of romance and mystery mixed in.

After a long time I enjoyed a family drama after Ojkayo brothers.
It is long, sometimes slow but mostly interesting and addictive, you will want to keep watching and wanting more.
Why?
The story is interesting and enjoyable. Very adorable characters, each having their own personal story which is fun to watch yet so interactive.
The family bond is so cute with nice parents who are supportive and loving.
The Uncles and the inlays story was the least interesting, and sometimes I used to skip those parts. Sorry!
If you like family dramas, then don't miss this one
Overall: A great family show, fun enjoyable and feel good!

Looks like the draft of Once Again

It started really well. I love the family dynamics and the characters, especially the lawyer.

it felt fun but suddenly it became... extremely boring and draggy.

There's a storyline of the father accused of murder... I didn't give a crap and it kept on for the rest of the drama.

The fake son drama too : it was so draggy.

Somehow there were all the ingredients for a perfect family drama but it's like the writers didn't know the recipe.

there are many similarities with once again, except once again is very good.

it's a disappointment but it's still decent. 5/10

After watching all episodes I'll give this drama a big thumbs up. If we goes towards story... story is great. It's not like those boring family drama. Concept of this drama is different. Let's not judge book by it's cover. Name of this drama might be giving you a weird vibes of bore but honestly this drama contain fun factors and bunch of romantic couple.

I really didn't focus on music because I was so lost in story. I guess it's nice.

I don't like this character, Cha Jung Hwan's mother. Those who have already watched it might know the reason to hate her and those who don't know... why don't you find it by yourself.

All actors and actress are handsome and beautiful. Worth watching and re watching.

I like Ahn Hyo Sub the most.

Q: Which couple you liked the most?

Q: Which actor or actress has become your favorite?

I would to know your answers.

The first thing I noticed about this drama was the fact that it had 52 episodes. I was seconds away from not starting it because of how long it is and because it is a family drama. However, idk what, but something made me start it and i just couldn't stop. Especially the second half of the series was just really good. I loved the intensity of junghui's love for miyeong and everything else. I loved all the family scenes, and the siblings warming up to junghui. I loved hyeyoung's character so much. Her confidence and just her arguments was so refreshing to watch. Right now, I feel depressed and lost because I don't know what to do after having watched this amazing series. I have fallen in love with many actors and actresses after this show, and especially lee Joon - he's one beautiful soul. There's endless amount of positive things i can say about this series. I loved every character in this show, I loved especially, the character development of some particular characters. I want another season. I wish it had 100 + episodes. I 100% recommend it.

I finished this a few weeks ago, but I love all the warm fuzziness I feel when looking at the drama page.  I fell in love with every member of the MFIS family (despite the fact that I was dead set against several for so long), and each of their faces is still fresh on my mind even now.

Story:
Byun Han Soo was a quiet man who contentedly ran Daddy's Snack Shop to support his wife and four adult children.  The children bickered with each other often over sharing clothes or who had to pay when buying their parents presents, but they looked out for each other.  Na Yeong Sil happily mothered them all while trying to keep her own mother and naive brother in check.  They appeared to be content enough, but it all got thrown out the window with the arrival of a lonely and guarded yet eager idol actor, Ahn Jung Hee, and his turtle, Al.  And the best thing about MFIS was that, while there was one big misunderstanding that eventually resolved toward the end, every decision these characters made felt realistic to their personality.  The drama had the time to let them be honest.  They were so fleshed out that their decisions and logic made actual sense (it's sad how often this doesn't happen).  It wasn't like watching a shorter drama where they cram in unnecessary misunderstandings for the sake of drama.  There was time for the show to build up a character’s personality and story so that the real misunderstandings and angst could come out to play.

With a couple of exceptions, I loved the story premise and the way it played out.  I loved the one-big-happy-family feel of the drama, and it delivered everything I wanted.  The only weakness that bothered me was the lost opportunity between a few of the characters in favor of the same side plots hammered to the ground.  I’m still not sure if they just didn’t see it in the writing or if these people wouldn’t normally interact in SK.  But there were a few characters that, if they had time to spend together, would have been fire to watch.

Acting/Cast:
This was the heart and soul of MFIS.  When the plot was on the predictable side or I was trying to get through a filler episode, the cast was why I held on so tightly.  It goes to show that tropes still can work when the cast and crew know what they're doing.

I've loved Lee Joon for awhile, but it wasn't until this drama that I grew to respect him as a multifaceted actor.  Before, I only saw him in kpop and dark roles - not that there was anything wrong with that…personally, I love a good serial killer - but I didn't think he would expand beyond that type of character.  His portrayal of Ahn Jung Hee was spot on.  Once he got comfortable, his acting grew into this natural drug that I couldn’t stop taking.  It was as if he, idol-turned-actor Lee Joon, was playing himself in the role, and it worked SO well.  And Byun Hye Young came across as a stuck up career woman that stomped on others to guard her heart, but she was smart, clever, and caring about the people she loved.  The reason I adored her was because Lee Yoo Ri had the BEST facial expressions.  She brought a quirky, sassy confidence to the role that made for some of the best comedy in the show.  Think Jun Ji Hyun in You Who Came From the Stars with more time to develop.  Even the side characters - some of which were the bane of my existence - grew on me despite my attempts to hate them.  That, for me, says a lot.

Music:

The music wasn’t memorable for me when I first heard it, but I will be the first to admit my love for it because I loved the drama.  It’s light, warm, and innocent.  If you like that sort of thing, this is a good pick for you!  (I’m all about the melancholy and orchestral music when it comes to dramas, so the fact that I still love this says a lot haha.)

Rewatch Value:

This has a pretty low rewatch value because of the length, but I will 100% rewatch my favorite scenes between my fave OTP.

CAUTION: If you're reading this, prepare yourself for my over the top corniness. A note about me as a person is that I'm not easy to impress and not prone to leave a review. I'm coming in hot after watching the last episode, so you've been warned:

To give this show anything less than a 10/10 would be a crime. It's not your standard 'boy meets girl' fairytale, but you will feel emotions you might not have even known you had. This is hands down the BEST drama I've seen thus far. Halfway through, I started to call the cast my "TV family" because I fell for the characters that much. I have NEVER in my life cried from happiness and I just SOBBED watching the last episode. I took my time with this show, mostly because it has a slow start, but was worth it. I would love to shake the hands of and thank all of the writers, producers and cast for this masterpiece.
This show deserves every iota of praise.

This was pure family fluff with lots of feels and lots of laughs~~
They didn't shy away from problems nor fell into terrible cliches. I usually get bored quickly with dramas over 20 episodes long but I sincerely wish this one had 200 more. The plot held me tight from start to finish with perfect pacing and beautiful writing. And the characters too were amazing and fit perfectly in the story. Each better than the other, I just couldn't chose a fave!!! They were perfectly cast but also realistically fleshed-out with great character development all of them. Ieven liked sunbae's parents in the end ffs! Doubt any other family soap opera will ever come close to the heartwarming perfection of my father is strange <3 I'll be re-watching it soon for sure <3

This is the longest drama I have ever seen, and I love, love, LOVED IT!! There's over 50 episodes and I never got bored once! I never thought that I would be one to watch a really long drama, but this was an amazing experience. Not to mention that I'm pretty sure I have diabetes from how sweet that ending was. At first I thought the story behind why the "father was strange" was a bit weird, but as the story progressed it made so much sense and was so emotional! The acting and cast was beyond amazing and the soundtracks are always stuck in my head. (You'll be in myyyyy heart haha) I gave the rewatch value a 7 only because it was so long that once is probably enough, but it was awesome. All in all 10/10 and going on my favorites list! (I wonder if I can use enough exclamation points in this review haha)

This drama was such a big surprise for me and a happy one for sure!
When I started watching, I didn't really know what to expect. I had read really good reviews and that was the main reason why I started it, also because I knew there was some romance in it and that is typically what I look for in a drama. However, I was really sceptical about it having so many episodes because I do sometimes tend to get bored easily if the storyline isn't very satisfying.
The main point of this drama that really catches and manages to maintain the viewer's interest is the story. It is very well grounded and naturally unfolded, without it being forced or stretched. Actually, it is so well developed that you could very easily believe that it could happen in real life.
However, what I think is the selling point and the best feature of the drama is the acting and the chemistry between the actors. There is not a single one of the cast members that doesn't do a phenomenal job. It was actually my first drama starring Lee Joon and I had no idea he was such a great actor. He does amazing at portraying all kinds of emotions and his on-screen romance with Jung So Min is undeniably good. It is also one of the few dramas that made me fall in love with one of the female leads' character. I am of course referring to the well-loved Hye Young, whose relationship with Jae Hwan is still the most realistic that I have personally seen in a k-drama so far.
That being said, I have to say that at some point I started growing a bit tired of certain parts of the story, mainly the relationship between Jae Hwan's parents and Cheol Soo's dad plot, which for me is only natural after so many episodes. I would have preferred for the drama to shift more of the focus on the main story when nearing its end or, better, for it to have less episodes with less scenes of the aforementioned.
Still, it was so bittersweet for me to reach the end of this drama because I was having so much fun watching it and I can certainly say that I will be rewatching it.

This is my first time I've watched a 52 episode kdrama and let me tell you do not let this discourage you. I started watching this after watching Lee Yoori in Lie after Lie.
Lee Yoori is absolutely amazing!! She owned the character Byun Hyeyeong. She was confident about herself and would not let anyone put her down. She was crazy and she owned it! She was the protective and responsible oldest sister to her siblings as well as a daughter to her parents. She was a pillar for her family. Someone her family can come to, to solve their problems I absolutely loved how she was crazily protective of her family. Like no one could mess with the Byun family with her there.
Miyeong was the cute, shy, sensitive sister, the perfect balance the family needed.
Rayeong was my favorite character. She was the loud, spoiled youngest child. I liked how she always played detective in her sibling's personal lives. Her romantic life with Cheolsu was the cutest. Each episode her scenes were the ones I was looking forward to the most.
Junyeong was the oldest brother, not very smart but was the kind, understanding brother his sisters needed
They were loud, they would fight, but they were absolutely loyal and loved each other despite everything, and would bear any storm together. That's what the Byun family was.

The best family drama you will ever watch!
While on a exciting 52 ep journey, I really felt like I had another family. The 52 ep felt like alot, but now I wish there is more!
I really loved the cast of this drama. All the actors fit so perfectly for their roles. Ahn Hyo Seop was the perfect choice for Cholsu!
I don't even want to mention how amazing the storyline is, you need to watch the drama to find out!
Anyway, My father is strange is one mof my favourite dramas of all time. Deffinitely recomend this drama!
