A perfect conclusion

Oh hell yeah, that's how you do a story climax right!

Where the first half focused on introducing the characters and setting up the plot, this second half gives us some more insights into the characters' inner lives. It explores the fascinating seesaw of power between the two - the restrictive labels of Senior and Junior, the class difference, and Seiryo's relationship with Shino which lends him a certain amount of power in Yuzuru's eyes.
It also dives a little deeper into the euphoric sense of vertigo that comes with finding someone who likes you, just you, as a whole, and adores the things that other people have repeatedly criticised you for. This not only endears the viewer further to the characters (although if you've not grown incredibly fond of them at this point I don't know what to tell you), but also serves to make the ever-building, all-consuming tension not only bearable but enjoyable as well.

The camera work and editing continue to enhance each scene until the story finally culminates in a truly fantastic and incredibly touching penultimate scene that genuinely made me pump my fist in the air and go "Now THAT'S how you do buildup and breaking of tension!"

I don't think I really need to say anything to make you watch this movie, this is the second half after all, if you're here you've already started watching anyway.
But if you're just scrolling through these reviews and fondly remembering the movie, let this be your sign to go rewatch it, rewatch it right now! You already know you'll love every minute.

Not better than the Part I

Pacing-wise, I didn't have many gripes, but the chemistry? Nah, it was still playing hide-and-seek. Now, in the sequel, Hirose's acting took a nosedive. Heck, on second thought, he wasn't exactly setting the screen on fire in the first one either. Sure, he dialed up the emotion a smidge more than Yamada, but that wasn't exactly a home run.

Now, let's address the elephant in the room—the actors' appearances. Hirose looking like he's about to hit 40 throws such a wrench in the works. It's like trying to picture a pineapple in a snowstorm—it just doesn't compute. Even if they'd transported the whole thing to a university setting, I wouldn't have been able to buy it. And chemistry? Oh boy, it was MIA. That ending? Yeah, it fell flat as a pancake.

Honestly, the story had the potential to be a skyrocket, but it ended up feeling more like a sparkler.

I love this two-part series, one: because of the great acting. two: because of the wonderful storyline! Although, just a forewarning, this second part is a little more angst-filled than the first. At times the lack of communication can be frustrating as heck, but I think in the end it just adds to the building of the relationship.

The acting is so good, and it's the main reason why I really love this movie. the chemistry that both of the actors portray into their characters is wonderfull and actually made me tear up at some points. This is definitely a must-watch, especially if you watched the first movie!

One of my all time favorites

It’s one of the best Japanese BLs (live action manga) ever made and that’s because it has a lot of the breezy style of the later Thai BLs, without losing its yaoi roots. The leads have a certain comfort with each other which yields up excellent on screen chemistry. It has a low heat level but there are some sweet kisses (we are in 2gether/SOTUS territory).

Popular first year Seiryo (Seryou) has a policy of going out with any girl who asks... for one week. On a lark, third year Yuzuru (Yusuru) tests to see if that policy also applies to boys. Seiryo agrees that it does.

Yuzuru is very pretty and attractive but so brash and honest that girls always end up dumping him because his personality doesn’t match his looks.

As the two boys date it becomes clear that Seiryo really likes the blunt side of Yuzuru, and Yuzuuru starts to fall in love with Seiryo because of this. He’s so happy to be liked for who he really is. Seiryo thinks it’s all just a game to Yuzuru, but he’s falling hard too. They both want it to last more than a week.

Seiryo is young and reserved but yearns so much to be loved and give love, while Yuzuru is the best possible version of an obtuse tsundere uke without being immature or a brat.

Their miscommunication comes to the story honestly and is sourced in their characters. The actors put these personalities into their physicality too, with Seiryo moving in an elegant if cautiously stilted manner while Yuzuru is relaxed and sprawling.

It’s utterly adorable.

I am writing this directly after watching both "Seven Days: Monday - Thursday" and "Seven Days: Friday - Sunday" and honestly, I have no idea what to do with myself right now. This drama tugs on your heartstrings in all the right ways.

We all know this feeling when you're head over heels for someone but you're not quite sure how or if to tell that someone. This nervousness you feel every time you are around them and the warmth you feel when they smile at you. The heartbeat you feel when they call your name, setting in motion a whole army of butterflies ready to turn your stomach upside down. All this and more I felt while watching this drama, on the edge of my seat to not miss even a nano-second of this masterwork.

I really adore the story and the portrayal was spot on. 10/10 - would recommend in a heartbeat

Beautiful is really the best word to sum up Friday to Sunday as well as Monday to Friday... both movies just have a great and calm atmosphere, beautiful scenery, good acting and so much feeling. I'm sure I'll rewatch them someday just to get back to that beautiful feeling the movies convey. Everything just felt very well balanced and just right. Please give these movies a try even if you think they're not your thing after watching the trailer because that's how I felt at first but look where I am now haha.

I had no expectations for this two part movie, but was pleasantly surprised. It is nothing earth-shattering, but a very sweet and rare gem among BL dramas: normal. What I love most about it, is how naturally the feelings progress, and no one is actually phased by their relationship. A bit unrealistic, but so nice to see.
I always ask myself, would this story work with a boy-girl couple? With this one, it probably would. The conflict does not come from the fact that they are the same gender. They just happen to be. No big deal.
It also helps that it is beautifully filmed and the two leads did a very good job. I was actually so captivated that I rewatched it immediately. We need more gems like this in this world.

Fake it till you make it

It was cute but that's it, there was not much of the story and I thought it'll be easy for the director since it's a 2D story about fake dating turning into real dating between two highschoolers but there was still a lot of holes in the story and so many things left unanswered!! I guess it can be called a journey to sexuality but I think they didn't even have any problems with genders when it comes to dating, it even seems to me that both of them who is popular and dated a bunch of girls are not treating it as if it's new and different-kind of dating when it comes to them dating which are two guys, it leaves me guessing that they might be bi.

I can see why they went with slow-paced story to make it somehow realistic and seem not forced which ended up with them looking like they are forcing to make it realistic which kinda ruins it for me and made me fast forward a lot. The casts were great but the only one that did well without looking awkward or forced with some of their actions is the person who played shino. Individually criticizing, seiryo's actor did not do well on portraying his character, he was shy and introverted but sometimes he went too quiet and the timing he goes back to talking is sometimes not right and in an awkward timing. The way he acted anxious/scared on the kissing scene on shino's room felt exaggerated.. shino's actor did really well, I have no complains. He was not awkward and it really looks normal and easy to understand his character from the way he portrayed and acted.

The story holes is that even though the two dated a bunch of girls, they don't know how to date.. and had to figure it out for themselves along the way. I guess that's being a man who's popular in japan for you, cause I saw a lot of those in jp movies/series. Another one is seiryo's and the girl who has the same name as shino's relationship, it was vaguely shown but it was pretty obvious that seiryo cherishes and likes the girl but how their relationship bloomed was not entirely explained, they both cling onto one another for comfort which was really weird when you think that the girl obviously was still into his brother which made me think why they were in a relationship, the girl sexually harassed seiryo which he didn't liked at first but went a long with it after(?) cause they even dated (showed scenes of them being in restaurants in a couple manner in season 1) so even if seiryo knew about her relationship with his brother, he still went with it so I was like huh.. that's problematic, might make me hate seiryo cause that's being an accomplice to cheating.

Anyways, enough about that it's actually quite enjoyable. Once they finished a day it makes you curious on the day next cause what happens then is always different and while getting closer to a week, you can see them trying to get even more closer and not wanting it to end :') made me feel lots of butterflies and I liked them together a lot IT WAS SO CUTE AND IT COULDVE BEEN MORE if things were explained and if it were a little bit more harder for them to get together in the end cause it went too easily.

Watch this if you like to torture yourself, lol

I usually don't like slowburn BL, but surprisingly end up watching this one. Well, primarily because I enjoyed the 1st part of Monday-Thursday, and can't wait to see the ending.

But, this one....Friday-Sunday, I think my heart stopped for a few times. At some point, I even felt my heat ached.

Because, its such a slowburn, that I died.

Oh gist, if it hasn't been a happy ending, I'd totally go crazy!

At least, I'm happy with the ending in the end. Otherwise, its pretty cute, how Seiryo waited for Yuzuru in station everyday. You know..little thing that matters and make a simple love, beautiful

Overall, its a beautiful romance, but the process can be overbearing.

A Great Adaptation

This was recommended to me and I am glad to say that I enjoyed this one a lot. It also inspired me to read the manga & I have to say that is honestly a really good adaptation. One of the best I've seen. There were scenes and dialogue taken directly from the source material. It is brilliantly done.

I love that the misunderstanding & their awkwardness were understandable. It was not just a weird plot device, it was a well written plot point. It was written in such a way that you actually understood where they were both coming from & it made sense.

Also for some reason it looks like it was shot in the 1980s and not 2015/16?

Anyways, it was really good and I recommend it.

Charming and innocent at the same time

"Seven days are enough, to fall in love"
Is what this little simple, romantic BL movie is about.

I'm going to talk about both films simultaneously, because the whole story consists of two films that represtened the manga truthfully.

First film: Seven days: Monday to Thursday
Second film: Seven days: Friday to Sunday

If you are looking for a hot and sex filled drama, then these movies are not for you.
The slow, sometimes dull and tedious tempo between scenes can be boring for some people.

This story is strongly character-driven, it rather puts the emotinal side of the character in forefront instead of the physical interactions.
Even tho there werent a lot of speech and physical interactions between the characters, the actors could totally convey the emotions that the characters felt, both with their face and eyes, and their body language.

While Seryou (Hirose Tomoki) plays a fragile, moderate, emotional, quiet guy, who does not talk about his emotions, on the other hand Yuzuru (James Takeshi Yamada) portrays a very temperamental, hot-headed, plain-spoken, slow-witted guy. Thats what makes them compatible.
They are both disappointed in love, and they both long for a love they have never had the opportunity to do before.(Unconditional love)

Seryou Touji gives a week to everybody to date with him, but these usually end up the same: not working out due to them not being able to reach his heart in a way he wants them to (in the past he once failed in love, so he has a hard time trusting) Yuzuru is the only one, who didnt let him go after 1 week, but rather felt real emotions towards him, and wanted a serious relationship with him.
Shino Yuzuru's cheeky and hot-headed personality is a let down to all girls, and they usually break up, because nobody has appreciated his inner virtue. (only Seryou who loves his real personality.)

Yuzuru and Seryou relationship is kinda of an accident considering it started out with asking out for a date jokingly, even tho deep down it was love at the first sight, this is that slow process, in which they clarify their misunderstanding and their emotions.

Their lack of communication caused a lot of misunderstanding, this also made me feel uneasy and frustrated sometimes, tho in some ways its understandable why they never talked openly.
They were both fully convinced that their feelings for each other were not reciprocal, and this one-week date would be over in a week.
What they didnt expect is that the ongoing situation will actually reveal their true emotions.

The music fits the slow tempo movies almost too well. It was very reassuring and sensual at the same time. It suited the mood of both films.

I cant really choose a favorite scene because I liked all of them, the way they got closer (the first, second, third kiss, staring at eachother, inner monologues, face touching, smiling at eacother, jealousy). There was everything: desire, fear, anxiety but finding eachother (the long kiss scene radiates that aswell)

All in all - (of course not perfect) but an outstanding piece.

Totally recommend if you want to see a light, romantic BL film without the cheesy overdramatic things.
