I've had my prejudices against idol dramas. This changed everything.

Doing this from the top of my head after an all-nighter so please excuse the rather spotty memory. A warning for spoilers!

It's truly amazing how fast your views can change when idol dramas are acted by people who actually know what acting is. Always a pleasure to watch both leads on screen, and the supporting cast absolutely stole the show (Ni Zhan, you deserved so much better in the love department).

Now, I will admit that the story had a few parts (especially in the beginning oh my god) where I just considered flopping my forehead on the table and just, staying there. When I tell you the miscommunication/zero communication levels were off the damn charts? Like I get that it's realistic that two headstrong personalities and unbending wills would clash like that but sometimes a whole argument could be avoided if one of them just... literally spoke less.

Cheng Xiao's arcs were very realistic as someone trying to make it in a male-dominated industry. I like how she's such a girl's girl and maintains friendly relationships with even her "love rivals", something I don't see very often done well with idol dramas of the same calibre. Her story with her mum was also very good. I come from a family like hers so it was very refreshing seeing it be realistically solved by the finale, gives all of us oldest daughters a bit of hope (if you know you know haha...).

Also, every time that Jiang Tao was on screen I wanted to roll my eyes so bad. He was funny for a while, but then crossed the line when he threatened Yicheng (who is a single parent, mind you) with his daughter's education. Good riddance by the way, he deserved what he got at the end.

I can't really speak for the technical stuff (like all the plane jargon really got me like O.o sometimes), but from what I've seen from the reviews from actual aviation enthusiasts on the Chinese side, it seems to be pretty accurate. Props to the production team for good research on that end, most idol dramas would not give a fuck, that's for sure. I learnt quite a bit too, definitely gonna recommend this to my grandma who hates flying.

Overall, it's nice if you want a non-romance romance drama if you're like me who cringes at the thought of watching people kiss, but the relationships get very funky very fast so do bring along some paper to do your note-taking.
