Old K-Drama Vibes

At the start, I was very intrigued. I thought it beginning with a married couple with one wanting to divorce was unique from most K-Dramas that are about a couple falling in love-- but this being a married couple falling back in love was different for me. Both characters were also both flawed, and I didn't really like them at the start, but, by the end, you really care about them and their families. I was shook like halfway through the series, they had already kind of addressed or answered some of the most burning questions, so I had no idea how the show as gonna go. Yet, they surprised me, they kept adding new drama and chaos each episode. The villains were wild, and the plot twists were so old-school. It felt like an old K-Drama for real. I was mixed on the ending, but it was technically happy. I just wanted more happy moments, and answers for some side characters' stories.

Amazing acting, OSTs, and cinematography. Funny moments despite lots of tears shed, and iconic cameos for K-Drama fans! I'm just mixed about the story and ending.

Edge of my seat!

I didn't watch this when it was first released, but I heard a lot of hype around it, as it's one of the top-rated K-Dramas of all time. So, I was concerned it wouldn't live up to the hype, but it did not disappoint at all! I have never had a K-Drama genuinely surprise me with as many plot twists as it had. I was on the edge of my seat each episode and could hardly stop myself from binge-watching. It was so good. Although I've grown tired of the reincarnation and time travel tropes recently, this felt so fresh and unlike any other. It's probably Song Joong Ki's best, but Lee Sung Min as the grandpa stole the show. He delivered such an award-winning performance. Truly had me thinking he was an old man! He somehow made me feel sympathy for this man who hadn't been the best person either. It wasn't just the writes and actors that made this a great drama-- cinematography and OST were brilliant too. Nearly a perfect drama. I felt a little mixed about the ending. Compared to the rest of the show, it was almost anti-climactic. It was not terrible, though. Some might feel differently than I do.

Unresolved Issues

Loved it until the last 3 weeks or so. What had been a fun, cute enemies to lovers turned into a dark thriller with no proper resolution. The way everything was wrapped up was upsetting, and some characters acted unlike themselves. Very frustrated about the ending and "resolutions." Some things were rushed, inappropriate, unresolved technically, etc.

Puppy Love

I didn't think I was going to like this K-Drama at first, but it quickly became a favorite!

I was in need of a cute rom-com, and this 100% fit it. The two leads are SO adorable and have great chemistry. They have a very innocent "puppy-love" romance and are also quite funny!

Some of the side characters can be a bit annoying, but I feel like all are meant to be comedic. The second male lead was an interesting choice (he was SO much older and kind of grumpy- he reminded me of like the old stereotypical mean male leads) but even he grows on you...

By the end of it, I was low-key sad it was over. I really grew fond of so many of the characters and didn't want to see them go!

Confused About Ages

I LOVED it when I first started it. I originally gave it 10/10. It was so funny.

However, by the end, it just wasn't my fav. It gets dark throughout the show, which was to be expected.
I was not a big fan of the relationships. The age gap was really weird to me for the leads, but it was even weirder considering the actors are the same age? I also hated that the main character's little sister and best friend got together--another weird age gap (both onscreen and offscreen).

I predicted the plot twist/villain from the beginning, so nothing really shocked me? The biggest confusion/shock was that there was one character who did not age at all while the others around them aged significantly (let's say she looked like she was in her 30s when she met some guys who were chilren. When they grew up, becoming middle-aged men, she still looked like 30)-- and there was no explanation for it.

Over all, I liked the comedy x mystery vibes. It's kind of giving K-Drama version of "Psych," which is one of my fav TV shows.

Healing

This is exactly the kind of K-Drama I was needing! It 100% gives meaning to "healing drama" genre.

My heart was full and touched by the end of it. I cried so much, but I also smiled a lot throughout it. I was very empathetic to the characters' struggles. The female lead put into words so many feelings/thoughts I have. Yet, at the end, she left me thinking.

We might feel like we're not enough or achieving some great dream and we must hustle to make a life, but... Are we really living for ourselves in the process or simply doing it due to expectations of others? There's a scene at the end that was very sobering where the female lead lists simple things in life we might take for granted, such as drinking water, hanging fresh laundry, etc... and she says that "it's enough." We might think we'll never truly be happy, but... happiness is technically contentment. In such moments when you realize you have "enough," you're content. This scene will stick with me long beyond finishing the drama.

All the characters/actors are great. You can't help but connect with them. I loved Siwan in "Run On," but I think I love him even more in this! I also appreciated how he and the female lead have such great chemistry and form such a wholesome relationship. Despite little to no skinship (there's not even a kiss), you never question their feelings for each other. It was nice to see how a couple showcases love without sex.

My only complaint is honestly how heavy it got near the end with the murder mystery. Sometimes, I'd like to watch a slice-of-life free of such tragic content, but this storyline was wrapped up much better than other dramas I've seen lately (*cough* Crash Course in Romance *cough*), and ultimately it delivered a powerful message of how people can overcome tragedies and horrific circumstances and still choose to live life and even find happiness.

Fun Sit-Com

New favorite show!

I wasn't sure I'd like it at first-- episode 1 was wild, and I didn't like some of the physical comedy of characters getting hurt. I'm glad I continued watching, though. Every episode after that was hilarious, and it was nice to have 45-minute episodes, so nothing felt like it was being drawn out too long. The romance was also great; loved the enemies-to-lovers workplace relationship.

I loved each character in the end, and I actually found the show's ending very satisfying despite just 12 episodes. I could see it getting a season 2 though!

Not Your Traditional K-Drama

This has become one of my favorite K-Dramas! It had comedy, drama, heart, etc. It is not heavy on romance at all (depending on the viewer, this might be good or bad I guess lol).

I personally found this K-Drama never boring. I was impressed with how much they fit into each episode. It never felt like they were putting in filler content. I ended up loving just about every character too. And the story was so heartwarming and inspiring. It's definitely one of those dramas that have me questioning my career path yet again lol.

My only complaint is that we don't really find out who the female lead ends up with! I was conflicted the whole time about who I wanted her with and got mixed signals. Finally, at the very end, one of the guys confesses but she says nothing! I had personally thought that though she cared about him, she had never considered that one specifically as a potential love interest honestly even if they did have good chemistry.

So, I would love a second season. It would be interesting to see them explore more into a romantic storyline while continuing to introduce us to new Webtoon artists and continue seeing the growth of the current artists and the PDs! I feel like there's so much potential.

Nostalgia!

It's not the best quality since it's over a decade old, but I love the actors so much. The OST is also timeless, and if you're a K-Pop fan, it's a must-watch! The story didn't always make a lot of sense, but it was cute. Ultimately, a feel-good drama. I would actually rewatch it due to the nostalgia.

Worst K-Drama I Watched

Trigger warning: SA

The preview and concept sounded like it had the potential to be a cute romantic comedy. However, that was just not the case. The female lead's sister committed suicide suddenly without any signs... only for us to find out that the male lead's best friend took advantage of her (it's heavily implied that he raped her). In addition to this, the male lead's sister is manipulative, which includes self-harming herself in front of others.

There are a lot of uncomfortable moments, and terrible characters do not suffer consequences for their actions at all. The K-Drama gave everyone but the deceased innocent sister a happy ending. Additionally, sometimes, the story felt so inconsistent, as if the writers changed their minds during the series.

Sexual assault is not a joke.

TW: SA

I had originally been looking forward to watching this because of the female lead, but this is the worst K-Drama I've ever seen.

I was taken aback by the depiction of Africa. The stereotypical "Lion King" style of music, the yellow filter, acting like it's a generic undeveloped country, while the male lead is some "white savior" was crazy. Knowing it was only going to be part of the drama briefly, I decided I would try to keep watching... But it only got worse.

Sexual assault is not a joke! In Episode 2, the female lead was chased into a bathroom by the male lead (YES, THE MALE LEAD), who literally corned her in there. He begins to remove his belt to expose himself to prove to her that he's “sterile" as he's angry that reports were released, claiming that he is a eunuch (a typo). She looked horrified, shielding her eyes! If it wasn't for her coworkers rushing in, he really would have exposed himself. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen in a K-Drama. I could tell it was meant to be jokey. I don't know if the viewers were supposed to be okay with it because the two characters had history, but it wasn't okay! How can I continue to watch a K-Drama and root for this couple to happen when the male lead sexually harassed the female lead?

I've never dropped a K-Drama so fast in my life after that!
