Over time the writers seemed to have lost what the story was supposed to be about. From about the 6th episode things started going downhill and instead the drama started taking a new direction. Which is fine if you create an appropriate set up to do this. But this never happened, it felt as though the first couple of episodes was spent setting an amazing scene for the drama and after a while the writer were like "hmm nah". Which is a shame because the first episodes were the best ones. It was clean and slick and the story was there.
In terms of characters and cast, Joo Won was essentially carrying this drama. This drama highlighted why he is such an amazing actor. Every emotion that passed on his face was resonated in his body language and tone of voice. You found yourself rooting for this doctor who looked at patients as though they were bags of money from the very first episode. My only experience of watching Joo Won was in Ojakgyo Brothers (which he was amazing in) and so went in having high expectations in his acting. He made a great doctor, was very charismatic and had that loveable rogue feel. My only criticism was that towards the end he became slightly meek and I found myself expecting more from him. However I'll pin this on the writers, not on Joo Won.
Kim Tae Hee on the other hand was a bit of a mixed bag for me. When she had her whole revenge/cold thing going on her acting seemed to be okay. Her acting wasn't consistent enough for me to think she was an amazing actress and at times she was slightly lukewarm. The chemistry between Yeojin and Taehyun was lovely and sweet and made me smile. The director made the kiss scenes look beautiful.
I really enjoyed the music in this drama and the soundtrack really brought out the emotions. My favourite one would definitely be Nightmare- Yong Junghyun (BEAST) and Heo Ga Yoon (4 minute). Ga Yoons voice sounded beautiful in this song and she has a lovely tone.
Overall, Yongpal started off strong with Joo Won displaying his amazing acting skills. The initial episodes and set up was amazing and left me wanting more. Eventually the strong start fizzled out with only a scattering of 'edge of the seat' moments in the drama.

However with Junsoo, I fell in love with instantly. The fact that he took care of Hyun Woo and protected her throughout his whole life made me love him. He never gave up on pursuing a relationship with Hyun Woo and as a viewer made you want to root for him. Visually Hyun Woo and Junsoo made a great couple and having seen Moon Chae Won and Lee Seungi on Running Man it was clear the two had a great relationship and chemistry. But, this chemistry was not shown to us on screen which is what I would have liked.
Overall the movie is okay in terms of a rom-com, with some great humour in places. Although I wouldn't go out of my way to watch this again, this is one of those movies that you can watch with your friends as a light watch.

High School King of Savvy

The storyline of this isn't merely a 'noona romance', to be honest I would count that as a minor detail in this drama (so if you don't like noona romances don't worry). What amazes me about this drama is how each cliche was re-written to fit the lighthearted and funny tone of the show to the point that you actually forget that it is a cliché. The humour is what propelled this drama to the top of my 'rematch because it's amazing list'.
The characters, there is no way I can write about them without gushing. Seo In Guk is one of my favourite actors and brought this drama to life through his portrayal of a high school student. Min Suk eventually was not a character that Seo In Guk was playing but it WAS him. Every line and expression drew me in and made me love him more and more. Min Suk was adorably childish but not in a way that made him annoying, but in a way where you loved his heart and the fact that he could always find the good in a person. Seo In Guk shocked me more when he played Min Suk's brother. How could a person act so different? Everything movement, expression even the tone of voice helped to identify Hyunsuk and highlighted how good Seo in Guk was at acting. The fact that he could instantly change characters just by his presence blew my mind.
Jung Soo Young at first was very weird. Very out there, but eventually she became endearing and such a nice change to the typical kdrama heroine. Her development throughout the drama was amazing. In the beginning she was someone who was pushed around and faded into the background. Eventually she blossomed and learnt to stand on her own two feet. She shined throughout the drama and was so relatable.
Lee Soo Hyuk surprised me in this drama. You go from feeling hate towards him to pity and rooting for him to have a happy ending. His cute childish bromance with Seo In Guk was always great to watch and made me smile. I hope he does more rom-com's as he was great in this and really showed of his acting skills.
I have to also say that the writers did an amazing job of making ALL characters shine not matter how small or large a role they had. Every character made the drama all the more amazing from the office staff to Min Suk's grandpa. As for the music? I still listen to all of the OST's over and over and especial love Seo In Guk- Finding myself. An amazing singer and actor, what can this man not do?
So if you find yourself contemplating whether you should watch this drama or not I am telling you…NO… urging you to watch this. You won't regret it and you will find yourself laughing and crying with all the characters.

Whilst I understood hat the writer wanted to show a love that was sweet and innocent, a lot of the time I found myself questioning the relationship. Mostly due to the chemistry between the main actors. I didn't find it hard at all to believe Seung Min's love and could feel how strong his feelings were. However, with Han Ga In's character it felt as though she was going through the motions of someone who was in love. I just couldn't understand what she was thinking at all. I have never been a fan of Han Ga In anyway, all the characters she has played always felt the same as the last one and she never really brought anything new and different to the table. This movie did not help her reputation of having just a pretty face with no acting ability. I did find the younger version of her better and more convincing as a character. Suzy did a great job in her interpretation as Seo Yeon and really brought the character to life.
This thing that this movie definitely did right was casting Jo Jung Suk. His character was so hilarious and loveable and hinted at his ability to do a comedy role.
I have to say the story is very well told and visually the movie was beautiful. The house that was made was amazing and blew me away. The camera angles used were very nice and the way the story showed us the main characters in the past was done in a way where the movie still flowed well.
Although this movie wanted to show us the beauty of first love, I don't think the writers did a very good job of reflecting this when the movie was in the present day. This could be due to the chemistry between the main leads and the fact that Han Ga In did not really make a good older counterpart for her character. Overall the movie was ok, but not worth the hype.

Jo Bo Ah portrays the main lead as a chilling and psychotic character and showcased her amazing acting abilities. But she also had this ability to somehow still make you sympathise with the character and understand her to some level instead of just seeing her as someone who is crazy and obsessed. I loved how at the start of the film she was cute and flirty and as the movie went on she became more and more unravelled. Even at her most psychotic stages there was still a glimpse of that high school girl that was reaching out for help and for someone to love her.
The movie kept me on the edge of my seat especially towards the end and the cinematography really added to the chilling atmosphere that some parts of the movie gives off. It's definitely one to watch if you like movies with dark themes and raw emotions.

Having seen Shin Hye and Yonghwa in You're Beautiful as the couple that never was, I decided to watch this drama to see what the chemistry between these two would be like when faced as a couple.
I'd like to tell you they had amazing chemistry and their love was sweet and made me envious, however it was actually just really awkward to watch. I wasn't convinced these two LIKED each other let alone were in LOVE with each other. I actually preferred it when they hated each other. You'd think that the kiss scenes would bring out SOME chemistry between them? Nope. Nothing, just frozen fish kisses.
The overall acting itself was just terrible. Yes, Yonghwa was supposed to be cold and disinterested and rude but that does not mean he had to cancel out all other emotions. There are plenty of other dramas with his type of character that are able to display a range of emotions and draw me in. However, his performance just felt so flat and monotone. He definitely did not convince me that he had amazing acting skills.
The only thing that I did really like about the drama was the music. The music in the drama was great and managed to show the emotions of the scenes really well.
This is not one that I would recommend or rematch. Unless you want to watch it for the music… go ahead but you are in for a long 15 episodes.

My Love from the Star

Eventually it became one of my favourite dramas ever! Story wise the drama did have some cliches but the writers did know how to re-write the cliches in a way that was new and fresh using humour and the unique concept of falling in love with an alien.
What sold it for me were the actors, they were refreshing and made each of the characters have a lot of depth. Before this drama I had only ever seen Kim Soo Hyun as the country boy Samdong in Dream High and thought I would find it hard to see him as a manly, cold but good looking alien. Watching this drama made me forget his previous role and his character drew me in. Jun Ji Hyun played her role as a hallyu star in a way which made her seem absolutely crazy but still relatable and loveable. Whilst some may think that her character was too over the top, you have to remember that the drama is about an alien falling in love with a human. So yes there are other aspects that will make it slightly 'out there' but the writers worked hard to still make the realistic and relatable.
Initially I did think that Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun did look slightly strange together, like an aunt and her nephew. But the chemistry won me over and pretty soon I was rooting the two on! :)
Even the villain was great! Just the right among of evil without going too overboard. Shin Sung Rok definitely made me hate him in a good way and I was impressed with his acting skills.
One thing I will say is that Yoo In Naa's character did not have as much of a development that I would have liked.
Music wise, there was nothing too special or memorable. The songs were nice to listen to at the time but I wouldn't find myself listening to the OST again and again.
As for whether I would rematch this again… I already have… 3 times! The humour, the characters and the romance definitely are the things that always make me rematch this drama. This drama is always one that I miss and get a 'drama heartache' because I love it so much. Watch it guys! You won't regret it!
