Hidden Sitcom Gem

A lot of people compare this to the original, but please don't do that, I liked the original, but the reboot was just as fun. I personally loved the casting, I thought all the actors did a great job, but my standout performance goes to Yuri as Ae Bong, she was so funny and over the top I loved it even though at times it is a bit corny, she has her own charm. I also loved Seok's father, the actor who plays him is usually one of the villains in a political drama, so seeing him as an owner of a chicken shop and arguing with his frugal wife, was a new twist for me, but he was very funny. Another group of characters I enjoyed were the friend groups, of Ae Bong and Seok, especially Seok's friend group. When I watch scenes of all three it's just so relaxing watching 3 idiots just goof off. The show is very laid back with the occasional over the top humor, but taking it at face value as its own show, another family sitcom, not as a reboot, it is very very enjoyable, it reminds me of the 2020 series Hanging On, with a mixture of Waikiki. Each character has their own unique touch to them, there isn't really a dull moment I can think of either. I really hope you guys do give this drama a chance, and enjoy it for what it has to offer.

Parallel Worlds Done Right

If you are a regular watcher of OCN thrillers, then the plot of Train is exactly what you would expect from them. A unique twist on murder mysteries, this time instead of time travel they explore the concept of parallel worlds. The story focuses on a serial killer who travels between worlds using a mysterious train which connects them together. Seo-Do Wan sees the love of his life murdered and as he is on the verge of taking his own life, a train appears as he latches on to it bringing him to another world, where everything is just a little bit different, but here his love is alive. The story unfolds as he tries to find the real killer, while trying to protect his loved ones as well. Despite it being a 12 episode show, the story does start off rather slow, building the foundation of the story and introducing the main characters, but after a certain death, it picks up in speed fast.

As with most OCN dramas there are a few twists, and the first few can be expected, but the last episode.... the last episode was done so well, with a huge reveal, and an ending that left me not happy but content. (In a Good Way)

Yoon Shi Yoon and Kyung Soo Jin were the stars of the show, and they both showed their duality by portraying their characters in both worlds perfectly. As a huge YSY fan, he has never let me down in double roles, and he did a great job portraying Do-Won A and Do-Won B.

All in all it's just what I would expect from an OCN thriller, and they did not disappoint. If you're hesitant to watch, just do it, it's a well written mystery show that does a great job explaining and exploring parallel worlds.

A Nice Bingeable Crime Comedy

This is the perfect show to binge when you're bored and want a thriller or comedy. In my opinion, 8 episodes is the perfect length, as nothing gets dragged on. The story really isn't anything new; it's a typical whodunit involving the staff and customers of a supermarket. What makes this drama great to me is the cast. KwangSoo is KwangSoo, no explanation needed. Seolhyun does an amazing job as well. I love her attitude throughout the whole series. The staff of the supermarket is super intriguing. We do see some development from a few of the employees, which is a nice add on, especially in a short drama. The drama has a bit of misdirection, but about halfway through you'll probably get an idea of who the killer is.

Great Romance Sloppy Thriller

Mixing romance and thriller/crime is very hard to execute in my opinion. To make a great drama you need a balance of elements from both sides or establish the main objective from the beginning and this drama unfortunately failed to accomplish that. The show is meant to be a healing drama and from that aspect it's amazing, I love the side characters especially Ahn Ga Young. The romance between the main leads is so pure and the interactions they have are really relaxing and easy to watch. I also love the ML's interactions with the FL's mother, and I cried during a few of those scenes. However, I did not enjoy the weird tangents this drama tried to go off on. The love "triangle" between (The Vet, The Cafe Owner, and The Boxer) was just really weird and unnecessary. I personally do not have an issue with the Cafe Owner dating the FL brother, but including the Vet & The Boxer just felt forced. Now the bad part, the whole crime segment was so half-assed and there are so many unanswered questions, but it was so boring that I didn't even care that it was left unresolved. I've seen a ton of classic thriller dramas, and I knew to not set my expectations too high, but this was so poorly executed, that I felt like the show would've been an 8/8.5 if that part was cut out. Furthermore, the romance/healing segments were abruptly cut off by scenes from the police station, and the ordering was just terribly off.

the perfect movie when you're bored

If you need some time to kill and you don't want to invest into a new drama, then look no further because Mission Possible is the one. The story is nothing special, typical crime plot with undercover agents etc. The story really shines with the leads, especially the ML. He's one of the few actors that can go from goofy to serious in a second, as seen in Guardians & Hello Me. He does the same thing here, as casually drops Red Velvet references while trying to save Korea from arms trafficking. The chemistry between the leads is alright, I liked the FL, but I think the ML really shined for me. I think my favorite scene in the movie was when one of the villians was revealed to be a Yeri Stan. All in all, it's your basic comedy action film with a lot of humor, some great acting, and a ton of red velvet references.

Not Your Typical Rom-Com but It's Very Cute

So basically our ML is a famous singer who travels 20 years into the future , and learns that he actually disappeared in 1994. You would think the plot is centered around him trying to figure out why he disappeared and how to get back , but the drama strays away from that and shifts into a show about 4 friends trying to figure out their dreams, with an ounce of family relationships being touched upon as well. We also get a glance at how the life of a trainee is, and what it's like to be an idol. A lot of people rate the drama low because of the major change in plot, but personally I loved it, I thought the romance between the leads were cute, and I liked a majority of the cast, especially Eun Woo as MJ, the show had the right balance of comedy and romance, with a great OST. There were some parts of the show that I felt was forced or redundant, but outside of that it is a nice enjoyable watch, and if you're a fan of YSY this is must watch.

Age of Youth draws parallels to any slice of life anime. There is no coherent plot, just a nice flow of events to help you not only relax but think about life. I picked this show up thinking it would be similar to Waikiki, as it involves a group of roommates. While Age of Youth does have its comedic moments, the show touches on various real world topics. While watching the show it does not feel like I am watching a drama, but more so a reality show focused around 5 girls who live together. Each one has their own story, their own hardships and struggles, their own challenges to overcome, and we get to see how they tackle these issues first hand.

Each character distinguishes themselves throughout the show and the viewers get to understand them at a personal level. The only reason I gave the show an 8.5 instead of a 9, is because in my opinion, one of the main characters Eun-Jae was very boring. I personally found nothing about her or her story arc interesting, her personality is very bland compared to the rest of the cast, and her relationships with her boyfriend and mother aren't that interesting. The only part I enjoyed with her was during Episode 11, where she steps in to stop the kidnapper.

Despite that, I did enjoy the rest of the cast very much, they all had quirks about them that made them likeable, and I loved how the writers included their ugly sides as well, depicting that nobody is perfect and we all have our flaws.
