Cliché Fluffy Rom-com

This is not like your typical k-drama where it takes 10 episodes for the lead couple to hold hands. Although, it does have some typical k-drama tropes (e.g rich family doesn’t want poor girl to be with their son).

positives
+ kissing scenes were not cringey to watch unlike a lot of other older k-dramas.
+ the lead male falls first is one of my favourite tropes
+ the acting was amazing
+ a lot of chemistry between the leads
+ glad they didn’t drag out the best friend falling for female lead storyline

negatives
- not sure if it is because it’s an older drama but the production quality did not seem very high. The music at times were too loud that it was hard to hear the actors and then even without the music, the audio wasn’t the best at times.
- last 2/3 episodes dragged
- didn’t enjoy the mother as an adult actress storyline

It is definitely a drama to watch when you want cute fluffy scenes.

not worth the hype

Dots is one of those dramas where you either love it or hate it, and it’s rare to have an in between. For me, it was the latter unfortunately.

Although I only watched seven episodes, the plot just didn’t interest me. I usually give dramas 3 episodes max and if it doesn’t interest me, I will drop it. However, due to the hype, I tried to carry it on.

I’m not alone in saying that the mix of genres (rom-com, medical, military) makes it harder to enjoy. There’s not as much development.

From the get go, there was romance initiated, and thus angst. I enjoyed it but it did feel a bit rushed unlike the typical kdrama - which i don’t mind but only if it’s done well. What usually takes 8 or so episodes happened within two episodes.

Side characters were meh which I think is partly the reason i dropped it. Their storyline could’ve acted as a main plot alone and personally I love when the side characters add a bit of comedy and happiness when the main characters are not doing so well.

Nevertheless, I think you have to give Dots a try. It’s one of the most known kdramas and many people will ask for your opinion on it😅
