Mass Confusion

I normally like time travel story lines. But I could never figure out what the heck was going in this. It was so confusing just trying to figure out the plot, if there was one, and the reason everything happened as it did. Never any real explanations or answers. Even the villain was a mess. Could never figure out his story-I mean on the was messed up, but why he zeroed in on these particular individuals and treated his dad so horribly bad. And, as usual the last episode was so rushed my head was spinning. So who liked who, what were the other characters doing all the time, did any of them get married, where did the superstar go? Too many roads to go down for me.
That being said, the acting was very good and consistent. Seemed suited for their roles and no one was too unbelievable. Young Fan Fan was adorable. The bad dude, Gao, was a little young for his role as the villain. He’s a good actor, but just too young looking for this character. Otherwise everyone seemed well placed in their respective roles. The couples had great chemistry and seemed realistic. I think they did a heck of a job with the script that was given them. (They might need to rethink their choice of agents)
I wouldn’t recommend this unless you’re just bored to death and I’ll never watch it again. But no doubt there will be those who may love every minute of it. Just take your chances!!!

Flavor With a Twist

I wasn’t expecting this story to evolve as it did. And I really didn’t expect the age difference between the ML and FL to be very believable. Both were outstanding in the way that they developed their character growth and easy to follow and accept how their relationship began to advance. So, as the story progressed, it drew me in. And the cold, staunch ML began to thaw and tear down the wall he built around himself while the young, temperamental FL matured with time. They became very suited for one another and believable as they began to complement each other’s personalities. True love accepts the good and the bad, the better and the worse, in each other and works through the difficulties. This was evident in the main storyline. Speaking of which, there were a lot of side stories, and couples, that didn’t make or break the drama; there could have been less complications, less conflicts, and less time developing so many different couple scenarios throughout. Now, as to the “culinary” side of the story, for me it was a nice twist from the normal rom/dram; it was fascinating, entertaining, and somewhat educational. All in all, this story could have been a few episodes shorter and would have achieved the same outcome. I also feel the last episode was a bit rushed and jam-packed, as usual. I wish the powers behind the scenes would not rush the last episode but spread the ending storylines throughout the last few instead. Not everyone has to live happily ever after, or come to their end in the last episode. That being said, I did enjoy the way this ended, not a perfect world, but one that was acceptable and believable. I would actually consider watching part, if not all, of this drama again.

Enjoyable

Although it started out a little slow and I wasn’t sure this was going to be a good rom-com, it turned into one that I very much enjoyed. The ML and FL were great together and the love and trust between them progressed at a good pace. The ML got a little silly and out of character at first, but then he settled down and it became an enjoyable romance. The drama was fairly easy to follow as to the corrupt and evil plotting that occurred. Sometimes I was a bit confused but eventually it all fell into place. There were a few too many female characters chasing the ML for me, but it was only a small distraction. The support characters were great. Yan Yan and Lian Pian were cute together…would like to have seen them through to their happily ever after instead of just assuming the outcome. But even so, they were good as the second couple. The ending wasn’t as rushed as most Cdramas are, and that was a pleasant surprise. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to see a not so complicated rom-com, with a bit of martial arts thrown in, along with some drama included. But that’s just me!
