One time watch; Not bad or good

This isn't for everyone if I'm honest I feel like the message or the purpose of this movie is hard to perceive. I skipped around a bit too bc some of the dialogue and scenes were just fillers. It's pretty confusing why he quits school and why his sister is so nonchalant about it. I guess given his family situation he just wanted a break from all the stress and quit on a whim bc he was regretting after. It also seems like he craves love and security but doesn't know what it is and just chases whatever he sees first. Perhaps the movie was getting at sex does not equal love in that aspect. The girls story was her falling in love at first sight with someone who she knows nothing about and expecting him to like her back too. With her it might be that we tend to create fantasies in our heads about someone we're infatuated with without knowing them and when its crushed by reality it doesn't register easily. The ending is where that really comes out. Except what isn't sitting with me is that they had sex??? that kind of retracts the purpose I said before because he didn't even remember her so he just wanted to do it with someone who loved him but did he even like her back..I doubt. He used her to fill a void and she just wanted him to fulfill what she had in her head. It's the reality of some relationships too I guess. It's kind of sad but true. When you put this sort of real life thing into a movie I suppose it's harder to understand because we do things that we don't really have a reason for or we do things for twisted reasons that we don't let be known. Overall I give it a 6.5/10 bc it just wasn't a really riveting movie but you may like it so don't let me influence you completely.

A drama you simply can't regret watching

This drama has such complex emotions intertwined without it becoming too convoluted it's a masterpiece.

Its not what I would consider to be slow or fast, it is just right. The ML and FL both portray two people at different stages in life as well as from different backgrounds entirely and honestly the way that they are pulled together is so natural and done so flawlessly there's nothing to complain about there.

The antagonists of this drama will fully piss you off but also make you feel sorry for them at the same time which is why I love it even more. It shows each character in ways that you can understand them but also see them through the main leads perspectives. The plot is very real and raw. I know that there tends to be a lot of stigma around mental health so I really take this drama as one that is sort of awareness and a reminder that people are not always as they seem to be and to never fully judge someone or to criticize them because you don't know their story. Note: even if you do know them it's never right to judge someone :)

Now onto the main selling point...the romance. I have hardly ever seen such chemistry so well portrayed. It is very much an aching/burning desire kind of chemistry if you emerge yourself into the story. The ML and FL...chefs kiss. Both are very detailed actors. If you're into acting like I am and the technicalities I would say there's a lot to note in their performance that could help if they also seek to become better actors.

This is the only drama that I will ever rate 10/10....as of now

PLEASE watch

One word: Comforting

I see a lot of negative reviews for this drama on a lot of sites and I have to say that those people who wrote those are just as entitled to their opinion as I am. This drama is not meant to be the greatest or the hottest or the best. It simply tells a story to those who wish to watch and listen.

I found it very comforting as the ambience that is set is quite healing. This was one of my first kdramas so I guess you could say it holds a special place in my heart but it also just has a warmth that is so familiar. I love books and literature so maybe that's why.

Those who say that the chemistry is non existent...come on now. Don't lie like that, there's still something even if you don't wish to see it. I would say they have a very natural chemistry that makes you believe that they've known each other for so long. It's definitely heart fluttering in some scenes even if it's not exactly "FIRERY".

I think Lee Jong Suk is simply a very good actor with range and even though I think he's better in other genre's like action or thrillers he still pulls this off very well. I am not too familiar with the FL but I also liked her acting as well.

I give this drama an overall 8/10 because I think its a fair rating given the plot and all. I have rewatched this drama three times (so I am biased) just because I love how mellow it is.

"One and Done"

I feel as if some in this review section have been a bit too harsh or rather too generous so I will try to provide an unbiased yet biased review ;) I will try my best to also not spoil a lot (be as vague as possible) in case some of y'all reading have yet to watch.

This drama is definitely one to watch given that the actress, Seo Hyun Jin, really shines in a way that I would say is memorable. Her acting is not only very natural but she knows how to show complexity without it being confusing as--by principle--people are 3D or even 4D. I would say that the ending is also satisfying to watch as everything unravels in favor of the protagonists and as they say " justice is served". However, I do not think this show is one that can be watched over and over again.

First off, there's a lot of plot twists that I believe can only be exciting when watching the first time around. If you watch it for the second time it simply won't have the same effect nor will it be as thrilling. It could even be characterized as rather predictable especially given the fact that the oldest son of Choi Tae Guk is the biggest scum and is also pretty much behind a lot of the crime along with his despicable father. Also the plot twist at the very end, I wont say what it is, but in retrospect also predictable. The other plot twist of Soo Jae's daughter, again typical plot twist that we all knew was coming except the death was a bit much, not sure what it added to the story.

Second of all, there were some points that I felt were so unnecessary. Like Bae In Hyuk's character... he's a decent actor but the character just was not much of anything. He was pretty useless to be honest and the story could have done without him. I think the writer could have written his character to be more of a threat to Soo Jae's and Gong Chan's relationship if they wanted to but ofc given the inherent thriller/law/mystery plot that was already going on I see why they don't, which is why I say in the end that it should've been an omitted character. I feel bad too for saying that as I do like the actor and kind of wish to see him grab some better roles.

There were also a lot of side characters that I would say gave too much to keep track of, but that part is just my opinion (like everything else in this review :0).

My biggest issue with this drama is the romance plot line. It was way too rushed, not enough development. I also feel like Hwang In Yeop is a pretty strong actor as some scenes were very telling of his range. I really believe that the script is what failed here. They make his character strong but not too strong? I think that the writer should have written Gong Chan to be a "harder" person given all the trauma he went through. It would have made a lot more sense if he didn't get close to people easily and was slightly unapproachable. I also think that there shouldn't have been strong feelings for Soo Jae off the bat. It should have been gradual as Soo Jae would slowly open herself up to him. I also get that she was the only one who believed in him but I don't see where that's grounds for strong feelings, perhaps an admiration for her and her speciality which is why he delves into law himself in addition to the injustice he faced.

I'm gonna be honest I've seen In Yeop act with other actresses and have pretty good chemistry but here the chemistry just wasn't as strong. It has nothing to do with the 'noona romance' aspect, their ages aren't really an issue at all, it's just nothing was developed properly and it was kind of just thrown in your face. IN FACT they could've done without the whole romance and just focused on the actual plot because that was pretty good.

What I will say as I close this off is that the actor of the antagonist Choi Tae Guk gives a phenomenal performance that is chilling. That's it.

All in all I give a 7/10. Its good for a one time watch but it's not the BEST law drama I've seen. If you're a huge fan of Seo Hyun Jin though you should watch it. She really is a dedicated actress.
