The Biggest Waste of My Time

This was probably one of the worst BLs I have ever seen. It has a typical fanfiction soulmate plotline, where the two leads meet each other's eyes and immediately realize they are meant to be. The plot itself seemed intriguing. I think they could have gone pretty far with this plot, but their execution was awful.

The main character clearly has some trauma regarding his mother going missing and he vows to never follow his probe. The part I didn't like, however, was the utter lack of explanation on his trauma. What was the point of it being there and clearly having an effect on his perspective when they won't even explain it or go into the tiniest bit of detail? All we know is that the mother disappeared and the kid couldn't remember the color of her headband.

On top of that, the show moves SO SLOWLY and it's only 8 episodes. But then at the end, all of a sudden they throw a bunch of content in that doesn't make any sense. I thought their chemistry would build and it would be fine at the end, but I was very wrong. The actors had no chemistry on screen and they were so beyond stiff. Their kiss at the end was downright painful. Don't even get me started on the acting. The flat, monotonous tone of the second lead was SO painful I can't even put it into words.

Maybe I'm just too critical and I'm being mean, but after watching a bunch of other BLs, even these short ones, this seriously did not compete. The execution of the plot is half assed, the characters are poorly developed, the acting is complete and utter shit, but at least the music is nice. Would I recommend this show? Absolutely not. If you would like, I can give you some wonderful recommendations for other BLs.

Waste of my time

I had high hopes because I saw Yamazaki Kento, but this was by far one of the worst romances I have ever seen. I haven't read nor watched the anime/manga, but this was truly awful.

The story is garbage, 12 year olds on Wattpad are writing better content. The acting and the actors are the only reason I give it above 3/10. The relationship is not only disgusting but also unhealthy and extremely toxic and abusive. I liked Erika's character at the beginning but she lost more and more brain cells as the movie went on. There was NOTHING promising about Kyoya's character and I hated him until the very end. His feelings towards Erika are most definitely not genuine, and the entire dynamic between them is very strange and doesn't make sense. The end was rushed and his character changed all of a sudden, and overall, there was no character development. If the goal of this movie was to hate men, it was accomplished. <3

Not Bad for Such a Short Series

The plot definitely seemed interesting to me and it was easily accessible on Netflix, so I kinda started this on a whim.

The story is definitely interesting. The first 2 women and the second 2 women's stories fit together really nicely, but for some reason, I couldn't connect all 4 together. I feel like they kinda threw in the true identity of Ito at the very end with no explanation and it was a bit hard to digest. All of a sudden, they were like "well, this is the dude" and they didn't explain how they got to that conclusion or anything. The dude showing up at the end with that creepy ass grin really freaked me out. I'm not very satisfied with the ending.

I definitely liked the editing with the author sitting in on all the scenes and making commentary, especially when she was on the receiving end of it at the end. The only thing about that is that I didn't really understand the author's story. The clips of the author and her past lover were really short and I didn't really think anything of it, but all of a sudden at the end, it was important. The importance of the tub was interesting, but all of a sudden she broke down and I was like, what? It would have been nice to see some more explanation of her past and experiences so that I could empathize a bit more.

I kinda hated all of the characters in the show. They were all annoying and shitty people and somehow in the wrong and no one actually ended up happy, which is realistic I guess, but... In a way, it was good that they were all shitty people - it made it all the more interesting. Some of them were a bit predictable but they never changed so that's to be expected.

Overall, it was interesting for a short series that only takes a day to finish. Not a bad watch.
