The World That They Live In

When I first encountered this drama, the reviews were good, but I'd never really heard of it. To be fair, the first time I didn't give this drama the mindset it deserved. I had just come off Secret Garden, (Binnie!!) and was desperately looking for another drama of Hun Bin's when I found this. Expecting the wonderful, straight forward style slightly cliche drama that was Secret Garden, I only made it half way through the first episode before I abandoned it.
Big mistake.
A year or so later I came upon this series again and was thrilled. It literally took me about 4 days over my break from school to finish the entire series. And I was in love.
I have seen many korean dramas and then some, so I'm not kidding when I say it was one of the best dramas I've seen of all time.
But make no mistake; this drama stands alone.
It throws away the pink and fuzzy cloud of kdrama land and throws us behind the scenes--into the chaotic lives of directors, writers and all those who make dramas.
The drama focuses on the two main characters, Joo Joon Young (Song Hye Kyo) and Jung Ji Ho (Hyun Bin) who are both directors. In the beginning both are dating other people, and it is found out that they dated each other in college (don't worry; I won't give away TOO much). Suddenly they both find themselves single and decide to give their relationship another go. As the drama progresses they find themselves falling deeply in love with each other.
Lets not forget the other characters/couples. My personal favorite couple--Jang Hye Jin, a rookie actress and the cold hearted genius director Song Gyu Ho. I literally watched their scenes, sparse as they were, over and over again with a goofy grin on my face. There's the older actress and the humble director and poor goofy "crazy miss yang" , played by another one of my favorite goofy actors, Daniel Choi. (As if the cast couldn't get any better).
As love, health, marriage, and family all get tested among the characters, we find ourselves surrounded in their "world" of dramas. They tell each other to "live like a drama", but realize along the way the difference between the dramas they create and reality.
The chemistry, of course, is amazing, and I get the satisfaction of knowing the main couples' on screen love was real, as Hyun Bin and Song Hye Kyo did begin going out after the series. Sincerely watch this show--I promise you it will be different from other dramas you have watched, but in the best way possible.
