From great to a hot mess.
The premise isn’t groundbreaking, but it seemed cute so I thought I would enjoy the ride.I was wrong.
What a mess. I really wanted to like it and the first 1/2 was fairly strong . Unfortunately, the middle introduced random characters, subplots that were never developed, and terrible editing.
The real shame is the ML and FL gave great performances when the script allowed. But the writers failed them horribly around episode 6 and the story never recovered.
I don’t normally trash a plot like this, but I’m a little offended for the leads.

Good show and worth watching
This show had really good bones. If they had had a bigger budget and more time for each episode, I really think it could have rival. Some of the other historical dramas that come out in 2022.This story and plot was pretty good. There were no real subplots, but that is OK because there was not time. The characters were all pretty well developed, considering the short amount of time the drama had to work with.
The main phrase I have is for the cast. They manage to be versatile and show growth and flesh out their characters in a short amount of time. I thought they did a great job, and I would watch any of them again and something else.
A couple of side characters could’ve been developed a little more, but again they would’ve needed more time and a bigger budget to make this work.
It ends with a promise of season 2!! I’ll definitely watch

Let it serve as a reminder
I read the reviews and felt I needed to take a moment to defend the writing. BL dramas have their issues and this one is not an exception. I know many have taken issue with the content in episode 13. However, I think it was a much needed PSA to remind people that intimate partner violence is an issue that crosses communities and cultures. It is my just a cis issue and the memories of abuse don’t go away overnight. I felt the cast, director, and writers addressed it well. They used it to explain character motivations, not for salaciousness.Cet avis était-il utile?
