I did not know of this movie until I saw it on Netflix, so I watched completely blind and I feel bad for those who were anticipating it.

It introduced characters as if they were going to bring any contribution to the plot, but they were just there for nothing (maybe just an excuse to elongate the story), starting from the opening scene where they introduce the father.

This movie did not make me care about anyone, but I do give it to them, the special effects were good.

I just think that this movie did not fit as a comedy- they could have added some comedic dialogue, but they didn't. The only funny thing about it (I'm guessing) was the way the father would use his powers. Other than that, I don't see the comedy of it. If there was anything more than that, then that comedy isn't my taste I suppose.

"Call Me Mother" was a great drama that covered so many things- in my opinion, perfectly with as much as they could in 16 eps. Child abuse, single mothers, adoption, trauma, this drama really took all of those themes and compiled them into a great piece that left me tearing up.

Heo Yool (Hye Na) is such a great child actress and she impressed me because it really is a hit or miss when it comes to children in my opinion. However, the actress showed that she really understood the role and performed as if she had felt to much pain herself. What I like about this drama is that it really did not make the child a child. It showed how a child isn't just this cute person who doesn't understand anything. In reality, children are the ones that may understand more than adults, or at least notice more than adults do.

I was also pleased with the topic of adoption and single mothers. Still, even in the US, there are prejudices when it comes to single mothers and I understand that there is also this prejudice in S.K along with adoption. Women who are single with a child are usually looked down upon, as if they are used goods and are not desired as much. I don't know if this is a personal experience, but I have witnessed these statements with conversations with people around me. This drama took a different route and showing that there is no shame in being a single mother. That it is possible to raise a child and it doesn't mean that it will be an unhappy ending. With adoption, I simply enjoyed the fact that they explained that adoptive mothers are also real mothers. It's as simple as that.

I thought this drama was done well, although the episodes were unnecessarily long- full of filler, but in the end it performed great.

I do recommend this drama if you want to smile and cry at the same time and just experience this road to motherhood in a unique way that will leave your heart racing.
