East Asian drama fan since...2008? Started out watching Jdramas and some HK and Taiwanese ones, then moved to Korean, and now I'm back where I belong with about 95% Chinese dramas lmao.
Favorite themes:
- Republican era
- Opium gangs (general gangland)
- Police/crime
- Mystery (bonus if it features a super smart eccentric detective sort)
- Ancient dramas that aren't wuxia
- Ghost, supernatural, fantasy (esp if it's set in modern times)
- Funny wuxia
- Spies and espionage
- ASSASSINS
- Late 90s high school or uni setting
- Martial arts (other sports if it's like archery or shooting lol)
Things I pretty much won't touch includes slice of life, most modern cheesy romances, soppy or extremely romance-focused wuxia, medical, long boring palace intrigue, and I'm super picky on romcoms bc I burnt out on them watching Korean and Taiwan drams. I like the occasional xianxia, but it really has to fit a certain template for me to like it lol. Same with wuxia.
