Since I've loved historical Chinese dramas so far, I tried to look for other high rated or underrated dramas and I came across this one. The reviews were good so I gave it a try and boy, I wasn't disappointed. This drama for me is a gem.STORY:
The story follows Han Yun Xi (Jung Jin Yi), a poison doctor who suddenly had to marry the king's subordinate Long Fei Ye (Zhang Zhe Han, I think he was a duke in the story) just because the king distrusts him and he thinks that him marrying someone ugly would distract him from any political aspirations. She is then given the title of royal consort and even hired by the empress dowager to spy on Fei Ye so basically they didn't like him to be powerful. The story starts from there and sometimes it makes me laugh on how the duke's character is kind of too serious? And like all leads, when the male lead is serious, the female lead usually is optimistic and animated. The start cohabiting and live as a married couple in name and eventually they start to fall for each other. I liked all the other side characters in the story. Sometimes quite annoyed at the 2nd male lead Gu Qi Shao (Yalkun Merxat) though. He was the kind of second lead that I wouldn't ship with the female lead. He played his character so convincingly that I hated the character, good job. The thing with these kinds of dramas is that politics will always be a major part of a historical drama and that's a fact. The way it's executed however is the most important thing and would be and advantage if executed well. There was a good amount of politics, drama, romance, and comedy in the story and I liked it. I think this fantasy/historical drama did just that. The ending though is a bit confusing. Though there had 2 endings, kind of a choose your own adventure series. The ending raised so many questions after me being sad at what I thought was their fate.
ACTING/CAST:
I had no problems with the cast because they carried out their characters well. I hated who I need to be hated and empathized who I need to empathize. But ohmygod. The leads. Jung Jin Yi and Zhang Zhe Han are OOZING WITH CHEMISTRY. I'm not sure if this was an underrated drama but if it were, please do watch this. They look so good together! Zhang Zhe Han looks like he was made to wear historical costumes. He looks so good in it. I cannot stress enough how great their chemistry was. It really was.
MUSIC:
One of those Chinese dramas where I appreciated the OST. This may be a low budget drama but they definitely did it right. There was recall with the song and I even added the songs in my playlist.
REWATCH VALUE:
Definitely yes. For their chemistry, yes. And especially for the pretty, pretty Zhang Zhe Han. Love him.

The Young Lady of The General's House

Caesar Wu in a historical drama? This I got to see.STORY:
Shen Jin (Tang Min) is a noble lady who unfortunately is a child of one of the Duke's many wives which was always bullied by her sisters. Her older sister is kind to her though so I don't get why the other sisters look down on her when the older sister basically is the first child of the family but yep, they had to have drama in the family. So she happens to meet the male lead since her sister tricked her to marry the demon general Chu Xiu Ming (Caesar Wu) thinking that this general looks like an old brute. Their first meeting is actually comical to be honest and I like the fact that she has her servant with her as her friend all the time. Xiu Ming did not trust her at first because he was thinking that she was a spy from people who want him out of power especially when he was close to the king. It was a journey of them liking each other and I liked the fact that there was no complicated situation between them because that would be too dragging and cliche. They're relationship is good and their skinship plus kisses are so natural I thought they were husband and wife in real life. What I'm weirded out though is the ending. So everything that happened is just a figment of the female lead's imagination? What the heck was that? Although it would be an opener for a possible season 2 if they rewrote it as they were reincarnated instead.
ACTING/CAST:
Tang Min and Caesar Wu had so much chemistry there were times I had to close my eyes because I was suddenly feeling second hand embarrassment syndrome. Whoever casted them as leads deserves a raise.
MUSIC:
Yes! I love that main theme that the leads also sang. I could still recall and listen to it in my head even though there is no music playing around me. That's how memorable the main OST was.
REWATCH VALUE:
Definitely. The story was interesting and I wouldn't mind to just play it in the background.

I watched this since I'm familiar with the lead actors' past works. It would be interesting for me to see Bai Lu and Xing Zhao Lin recreate the chemistry together which I loved with them and other actors. And yes, they were that good. There was chemistry and I don't know if I'm biased with their last dramas but I love their chemistry with other actors (well, I am biased after all).
This is kind of a fluffy, funny, slice of life drama. This is an office drama where the female lead was the male lead's first colleague when he established his business. He hired her because her name was lucky. It was that simple. She is also the only person that could oppose him since he doesn't get mad in anything she does which makes her other colleagues use her as a shield when their boss is mad. It was a simple story and it also had it's moments. This is a drama you can watch breezily.

If I watched Zhang Yu Jian in another drama, of course I had to watch Janice Wu too, right? I discovered this drama since there were a lot of positive reviews so I had to give it a trySTORY:
The leads of this drama are childhood friends, as to all romcom dramas are. It was interesting since in the story it was the other way around, Tang Xue (Janice Wu) is a former short track ice skating girl who tries to lead a normal life in university and forget her former glory when she crosses paths once more with her childhood friend Li Yu Bing (Steven Zhang) who was now the star of the university's hockey team. Their cat and mouse bickering is a sight to see and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a revenge of sorts for the male lead's part since he felt like the female lead was kind of bullying him when they were little due to the fact that he was lanky and that she makes him do all sorts of things. Now that he is the star of the show he wanted to do the same to her. This is a story of reconnection and rediscovery. I also liked the other characters, they added color to the story. I love the fact that the female lead is spunky.
ACTING/CAST:
I don't question Janice Wu's acting ability when it comes to romcom dramas because I know she's a natural but boy Steven Zhang is a revelation. Not only is he a sight to see (he's cute!), he also is a natural and he definitely had chemistry with Janice.
MUSIC:
Though I loved the drama, somehow the OST didn't stick to me. It wasn't as iconic or maybe it didn't really have any recall.
REWATCH VALUE:
For the chemistry? Yes. This drama is fun to watch and I can say that this is one of those gems in Chinese romcom dramas.

The story is not really that original since they had adapted some romcom troupes. This is a story of a famous actor who got into a marriage with a nail artist when they were a dating scandal together in order to mask his feelings for his manager agent. They had a contract marriage and cohabited. But of course in romcom land, contract marriages end up with the leads being in love with each other, right? That's what happened here too. I didn't quite like the ending though since I think it was too rushed and the leads should've been given the ending they deserve. Though it was good that it had the hint that the ending was a happy one. This one had funny moments and I'm glad that Zhang Yu Jian deviated from his stoic character in LCDF.

My Neighbour Can't Sleep

Nothing much to say about the plot since it was simple from the start. Though it was pretty interesting having an insomniac pianist for a neighbor and finding out that he can only sleep when he is sleeping with you. Oops, not the dirty kind but the just you accompanying him to sleep. There was a psychological explanation as to why this happens but it surprisingly entertained me. I hated his team though, I mean give him some slack right? Like he was doing bad things when he wasn't really. This story kind of is like the beginnings of a summer fling and sort of a coming of age drama too. It was funny though seeing the female lead's parents, especially the mother being a die-hard fan of the male lead. All in all, it was a breeze to watch, it was simple, and something I would re-watch when I have nothing to do.

All I Want for Love is You

This is probably comparable to the Korean drama WLFKBJ due to the fact that the female lead is a sanda fighter. This is a coming of age drama which follows the gang from high school to university. The male lead is an intelligent student who is in the same class as the female lead. What is different here though is that the female lead didn't really like him first but it was the other way around. It seems that the male lead was harboring a secret crush and silently admiring how gallant the female lead is. They weren't aware that they also fancy each other secretly. I was entertained but I didn't like the ending though, it seems rushed.

The chemistry is outstanding! And I'm glad I found this gem.STORY:
The story follows Jiang Jun (Bai Lu) who struggles looking for a job in the investment market industry despite having degrees in economics and psychology due to her father's death. She then applies at MH, the top investment company and crosses paths with Yuan Shuai (Luo Yun Xi) who is a childhood friend she hopes not to see again. Unfortunately, he is at the top level of the chain at MH and she needs to gain his approval if she wants to work at MH. She also rents out his apartment next door due which of course she doesn't know that belongs to him. The furnishings of the apartment follows her taste because hey, he knows her well right? There were of course the cliché hindrances of love square I think? But I didn't hate on Qiao Na the same way I hated how Du Lei interfered with the romance brewing between the main leads. I enjoyed how Yuan Shuai harbors an unrequited love in the guise of being that annoying childhood friend. It's kind of like how elementary kids show their affection with their crushes. The second leads, Xu Li and Xiao Chuan were okay I guess but their chemistry and story didn't really stick to me.
ACTING/CAST:
Let me just say that it was my first time seeing Luo Yun Xi and Bai Lu act and I can easily spot that they are really good actors. Boy, they can act. Both of them have created a natural chemistry that is not easy to show unless you have a good relationship behind the scenes. They were natural and while watching this drama I could not feel that they were actors carrying out written characters. I felt like the characters were written for them. Kido Gao as Du Lei is also a revelation. I didn't like Du Lei, I really hated the character and it means Gao did a great job giving life to it. The second leads though are okay for me. They added adorable scenes to the drama but that's about it.
MUSIC:
This is probably the first time I loved a Chinese Drama OST. Especially the song Bluebird. Finally, I discovered songs in a drama that would make a long lasting impression on me to the point that when I listen to the song, I will remember the drama
REWATCH VALUE:
I did. I already watched this drama 2 times. Give this a try at least even for the chemistry of the main leads and you won't be disappointed.

The Sweet Love Story

STORY:
Nothing much with the story, it follows Zhou Xiao (Reyi Liu) who is a crime thriller enthusiast and her adventures in university. She particularly likes the manga Detective Conan which is funny to me. She then meets Zhao Fan Zhou (Simon Gong), a forensic science student....how convenient, who harbors a secret crush with the female lead. He is crushing on her because he finds her interesting. It also follows the group of friends they have, the female leads room mates + the male leads room mates which is nothing new with coming of age Chinese Dramas.
ACTING/CAST:
I didn't have much expectations with regards to the cast and them acting out their characters since this is a simple drama so I guess they did their acting justice within the confines of the characters written for them
MUSIC:
Still no iconic OST for me
REWATCH VALUE:
Maybe I'll watch this. Maybe not.
