Oddly soothing

I love time travel stories. It's a slow burner; it's not a complaint, but an observation.

The betrayal, in the first episode, felt raw. The slow realisation on Jom's face was well portrayed.

What I like: the pacing, the scenery. The present and the future existing in one scene at the beginning - cleverly done
What I don't like: something about Jom's meekness when he's time travelled is a bit annoying. I'm not saying he should be arrogant and brash, but it's still annoying.

I've finally finished watching this. I stopped for some time as I couldn't bear to watch the brutality, arrogance and privilege of some of the characters. I couldn't watch characters being beaten. I know it's a drama and aware it may have been close to the reality of the time, but it was too much for me.

As it went on, the portrayal of the love between the main characters, in a time when it wasn't OK to be open, felt bittersweet and joyous. The development of Jom, in a time that was alien to him, was interesting to watch. His confidence grew as he began to feel cared for (as much as was possible in that time).

The ending made me cry, but I think I only sort of understand it. Maybe that's the beauty of it.
