Different than other dramas

Overall I really enjoyed "The Gifted". After hours and multiple shows of watching many different thai dramas (mostly BL), "The Gifted" really hit differently. Not only was it not based around a typical love story (like every other drama), it had a fairly well developed story-line and system. Unfortunately, I saw the sequel to this series prior to this. This drama was very good at keeping the viewer hooked with each episode. The main curiosity for finding out the potentials was enough for me.

I don't have any heavy spoilers (reason why I didn't put "has spoilers") but I did put quite a few strong implications as to how the show works...?

Although I did enjoy the discovering of each characters "potentials", I did not fully enjoy how it was displayed. It seemed as though some of the characters didn't even exist until there was an episode specifically dedicated to their potential and their potential only. My problem with this is that it leaves the characters with not much character development. Don't get me wrong, each character is complex in their own way with their own struggles in their potential, I just find zero character development in most characters.

Then again, the character development in the main characters was phenomenal. I really enjoyed watching Wave and how he adjusted and changed through every situation. It seemed as though his character was really predictable, but it was still interesting as to how he would handle everything. Of course we can't forget to mention the development of Pang. Pang went from a student just from class 8, to the one who understands everything. Pang never fully understood the unequal system and I doubt that he ever will.

Overall, the story-line wasn't the best. The finding of potentials was interesting, but it seemed like there was not a full cause. Not to mention the horrible cliffhanger at the end of this series. What was the point of the whole show though? These students take a test, learn their potentials, and then they- ??? I did enjoy the discovering of the school's secrets part, however, I don't know if I really find that to be the main plot. So...what was it? Am I missing something?

The cast was fairly okay. I had not seen many dramas with these actors (other than Gun Atthaphan). I find that the actors did display strong emotions very well through their characters. I don't have much to say about this category of my review. I might feel as though if the story-line was a little more developed with all the characters that the actors could have done better or they could have done worse, but we don't know.

I would rewatch this drama, but not any time soon. It was fun discovering each mystery and trying to figure it out yourself, but once you find out, rewatching it wouldn't be as fun. (You already know the answer)

The storyline was great. I liked everything about the relationships between the characters; how they went from not knowing who anyone was to becoming best friends. The actor that plays Tae-O was very funny and fit the character very well. However, the characters Ga-Rin and Hun had very unnecessary scenes. I have nothing against the actors themselves but the way their characters were written is another story. The introduction of the character Hun was very interesting and somewhat hard to watch. There was one scene where Ga-Rin and Hun were trying to earn money, but Ga-Rin continued to mess-up and Hun had to apologize multiple times. I just feel like the reason she was messing up and his apologies were both farfetched and overdramatic. I guess in some eyes this scene could be thought of as funny, but I think that it is annoying and the show would be better without it.
