Started this drama with only an interest for the plot. Did not expect to completely fall in love with it after just a few episodes. The last few episodes when we see more of Rong Qi definitely hit me hard, he's not the main male lead but boi his character plot really got me sobbing. Prepare a few tissues at this point. Rong Qi’s character plot was definitely one of the reasons I stuck with this drama.
The initial episodes of the drama will definitely hook you with all the mysteries and suspense. However, the middle part, say about 2/3 of the way into the drama, did drag for me. The plot started to go off the initial storyline, for instance, Ya Li's love plot. This part of the story made it frustrating to watch as it wasn't directly relevant to the plot and instead of finding out the history between characters and having a more in-depth understanding of their relationships, it lengthened the wait to find out the overall truth behind the mysteries. Ya Li’s sudden interest in Wu You unnecessarily lengthened the drama but definitely stick to it till the end. You’ll also eventually find out why it’s titled Princess Silver. I’d say have a read of the novel version’s synopsis because that will make it clearer as to the reason why it’s titled so (but do keep in mind that the drama is altered, thus will be different to the novel, so that it is more viewer friendly in China. The novel is after all tagged as having mature content).
As you get to the last few episodes, everything is explained and the truth behind Man Yao’s past and those around her is revealed, which was done beautifully. The ending was done well too, a happy ending for the main couple and one of the side couple pair. It’s a very satisfying ending but do keep a few tissues on hand cuz you’ll absolutely need it. Definitely give this a try. It's not too heavy but not too light of a watch either. Yes it’s a lot of episode but trust me it will fly by. You’ll keep wanting to watch the next episode over and over again. All actors/actresses portrayed their characters very well. There are moments when the Male lead’s acting may be a bit stiff but the chemistry between him and the female lead compensates for that. The unyielding and conditional trust between characters really makes this drama even more enjoyable to watch. Costume designs are beautiful and elegant (it’s definitely one of those dramas where costume was heavily invested on and what a feast for the eyes!) and you'll never get tired of listening to the OST.
