Cliché “mandatory separation “ is getting OLD!
I am pretty much used to the tropes in romantic K-dramas. Mayyyyybe the midway “breakup” is explainable (albeit pretty stupid since the ML literally told the FL that he would treat her well and then turns around and breaks up with her with no explanation whatsoever). “Okay”, I say, “there’s enough episodes for them to get back together, whatever, we’ve seen that before”……but then, WHAT THE ? In the last episode? 3 months pass, then 3 years? Unlikely. As if anyone would stay single and what? After that long? I hate how ambiguous the ending was.
The writers should have spent more time focusing on building up the FL in how she saves money to afford her own home ( they kinda lost sight of the theme midway through the story when the romance gets involved). No more saving, the ML spends and spends, the FL spends money on soju when the mid breakup happens). After all is said and done, I have to remind myself that the same thing happens in “Because This Is My First Life” (coincidentally the same actress FL): although many people loved BTIMFL, that story also had an unnecessary “obligatory separation” where once the ML and FL get together, FL decides to leave her love “to find herself”……?
I agree with others in that they focused on getting the secondary characters together more than fixing the writing on the main leads.
Overall, I would not recommend if you’re looking for a satisfying ending!
