A Paced, Feel Good Show

Taiwan clearly outshines its Thai and Korean counterparts in quality, story and acting every time. Exceptional quality and character development make each Taiwan drama memorable. Even the OSTs always seem like quality songs that are well thought out. Saying 'quality' over and over cannot be helped. It defines the whole show's experience. Both couples provided interesting and unique story lines. There wasn't a second couple as a filler. Both were equally valuable to the show and developed nicely.

As bonuses, bringing in the characters from Be Loved in House: I Do and History3: Make Our Days Count was very cool and a nice surprise. Both excellent shows in their own right and neither felt forced into the story. Anything that can help me forget the horrible end of Make Our Days Count should actually get an 11 for that moment alone. Not listing Huang Chun Chih and Wayne Song on the guest credits must have been an intentional surprise. Thanks for that.

For those getting to binge watch, it will be an even better experience. Especially for good shows, that week of waiting between episodes is tough.

Great acting and good premise

All of the actors in this were really good and portrayed their roles well. This would make a good movie because some of the long stares and unnecessary characters would potentially be cut way down.

Chef Eve, to me, was not necessary to the story at all and honestly just confused it. Her getting involved with Bie at the end... what was that?

When you wait a week for an episode, long stares are so frustrating that it actually changes the story internally. Something the director meant to be a beautiful and meaningful pause evoked cause me to become pissed off. Not what was intended, I think.

Prem and Vich... one person getting a love interest at a restaurant is ok, but two friends finding love at the same place? I don't know. And then suddenly opening a place? They had more going on than the main couple. They had a romance and even a sexual relationship that even the main couple didn't have.

Wiphob... adding him as a competitor and even quickly mentioning why he was so completive would have been great, but meeting his father and whatever that nonsense with Aek was... way too much. That whole thing where Aek called him for help... why not Bie or Vich? And then stayed over... ugh. I was annoyed all week at that wasted episode.

Aue's mother and her gallery also seemed unnecessary. Aek's mother and story were perfect and interesting parts of the story.

Loved the restaurant staff and all their scenes. One exception was Chompoo's date. Again, wasted time that could have been spent on the main characters.

Aek's friends scenes were all good and added to the story. (Well, except Bie's strange date with Eve.)

The story was good overall and I really liked the showcase of the Thai food and the non-Bangkok Thailand. I enjoy shows that show off smaller towns or villages or even Chang Mai. Thailand isn't only Bangkok.

I look forward to more work from the main two actors. They did a great job in this. I will rewatch this someday and maybe have less complaints without the weeklong waits.

Directionless Story

I honestly hate to review something people worked hard on unless I enthusiastically loved it. I wanted to love this and tried. The story meandered around like it was full of random 'hey what about this?' moments while it was being written or adapted for a series. There were elements that might have made a good story, but something went wrong. Not a spoiler but the ending flipped at the very last second... literally the last second... I can still feel the look of confusion on my face.

The one especially good thing I think was Kurt Mendoza. I hope he does well and makes other things. I look forward to seeing him in something amazing.

Disappointed

Amore was a really good story. Different and interesting. BL with some intrigue.
The cast was really good.. inclusive and quirky.
Things started stumbling in the 20s episodes. The stories got confused or suddenly abandoned. Waited forever for the finale and it was a shame. Not in the way that you feel when a story doesn't end the way you envisioned it, but instead ended in a ridiculously thrown together wrap up. It didn't even continue from the episode before it nor did it contain anything from the teaser at the end of that episode. I won't put specific spoilers but watch through episode 26 and then come up with your own ending.

My heart goes out to the actors who put a lot into Amore and to the fans, like me that stayed loyal for those 26 episodes. I won't trust my time to this production company again.

Sweet like candy with a doom filled center.

This was a nice story that was undercoated by dread. From the horrible shock of the accident, then the disbelief that we are supposed to follow a story like this, then being fully on board because the story was just so nice, then trying to decide if that last episode would be watched or forever skipped. The entire show was pierced with a feeling of dread knowing the only way it could end. The thing is, that in the opening credits, you see them having a great time camping and think maybe there will be a twist. I assume that was deliberate. The two main actors were amazing in this. I hope that separately or together, they do a lot more acting so I can see them again.
I had to knock down the Rewatch rating. I really don't think I could go through that again.

First and most importantly, I really liked the show. The actors were wonderful. The main two characters were well defined and I felt like I understood them. However... a lot of extra less defined plot lines were there. If this was 12 episodes and the other characters and backstories went a bit deeper, it would have been perfect. Even the food could have been incorporated a little more. Even the typical Korean drama rich vs poor wasn't explored so it was unnecessary to the story. One person saying he's poor in every episode doesn't drive that formula.

The cast made this work. It needed more time to add depth to the plotlines and backstories. All in all it was top notch and emotionally satisfying.

Subtitle Issues

Subtitle issues really had an impact. That was the worst of it for me (hence the title).
The guest couples were really fun if not oddly thrown in.
Some scenes were very slow moving. Like VERY slow moving and repetitive. At first, I thought the concept was cute, but s it went on without even a little bit of resolution, it seemed more like an untreated illness to me. I really think the show was meant to be quirky and really fun, but something went wrong. Also, Diew and Mix... frustrating. And what happened to their younger counterparts that seemed to wind up liking each other?

I don't think there will be a season 2 because how could they drag it out any more? I'd watch it to see if anything resolved or if anything happened between the main characters. But I'm not hopeful.

If the subs are ever fixed, I'd watch again in one throw and maybe enjoy it more and maybe it will seem to flow better.

A Unique and Satisfying Show

I decided after just a few episodes to treat the series as each episode standing alone. A separate story each time. When one ended, that was it, without any real cliff hangers. Of course under it all, the evolving relationship tied it all together. That's how I avoided the issue of episode length and spacing. I do admit that I will rewatch it sometime in the near future in a compressed binge.

I liked both actors very much and they kept me interested in the show. The embedded cooking show theme was very unique compared to any other drama I've seen.

It was a sweet show and I would definitely recommend it for the acting and the unique story. There could easily be a second season to this and look forward to one.

Huh?

This wasn't the best show I've ever seen, but at least it didn't follow the cookie cutter outline of so many Thai shows. It didn't have all those repeated milestones most shows have like two people that hate each other then POW! or people falling and keeping their faces together for 5 minutes without moving...? "I'm not Gay. I just happened to fall in love with a guy. Love is love." (The first time I heard that, I was impressed and moved. The 50th time, I was rolling my eyes and irritated. Anyway, it didn't have all those things, so for that alone, I liked it.

You kind of knew from episode 1 how the story would end, but you knew it was a happy ending, so forge ahead. Well, a Covid time warp in real life separated the show at episode 8 and oddly, a different show began in episode 9. It honestly feels like two separate shows. I don't know what happened to Peace (Nite1) but now there's Pak (Nite2). Episode 9 and most of 10 was lost on me because I found myself just saying 'Huh?' the whole time. I annoyed even myself. I imagines thousands of viewers laughing at me for not knowing what was going on. Nite1 was lovely if not a bit stiff. Nite2, also lovely and very reminiscent of Nite1. That added to the confusion. Tee(Tae) went from looking like a kid to looking older with an adult body and blonde hair and very good looking. Anyway... here are the best choices... 1-think of it as two completely separate shows or 2- just watch episodes 9-12 and call it a day.

The OST "When Love Is Right" is very Thai drama OST-ish but amongst them very good and catchy.

Ratings:
Story was low because it gave me a headache.
Acting: I can't say problems in this weren't the director's fault and don't want to be hurtful to the actors.
Music: OST and some interesting use of music were good.
Rewatch: For me.. .no.
Overall: went above suggested to 7 because I did watch every episode
