This is a fictional drama base on actual historical events and figures (from the Unitary dynastic period: Joseon), such as Sukjong: 19th monarch (portrayed by Choi Min-soo), Royal Noble Consort Suk (portrayed by Yoon Jin-seo), Gyeongjong: 20th monarch (portrayed by Hyun Woo) and Yeongjo: 21st monarch (portrayed by Yeo Jin-goo).

There is only two words I would use to describe this drama, the story line, the character development, and the actors. Those two words are "excellent and outstanding. This is the type of drama that keeps you interested and wanting to know "what is going to happen next". In other words you become addicted. I absolutely loved it. It kept my eyes glued to the screen. It contained action, suspense, and historical events with a twist. I recommend this drama as a "must watch".

The story line was outstanding, it almost kept true to the actual historical figure "Jang Yeong-sil", except for a few parts. This drama also follows the life of one of the greatest Monarchs of Korea, King Sejong (created Hangul, the Korean alphabet) fourth monarch of the Joseon period. The character development from the beginning to the ending was excellent. All the actors were outstanding.
According to actual history, Jang Yeong-sil was imprisoned for a long time. However, historians do not know how or when he died. Nothing about his life was recorded after he was thrown out from the palace. With this being said, out of all the Monarchs of Korea "Sejong the Great (Unitary dynastic period: Joseon 1392 – 1897), is my favorite. This is one of the best historical drama I have seen. It provides the viewer with actual Korean history and is very educational. I strongly recommend this drama to all viewers and those who are interested in Korean history as well.
