Enjoyable but not the best
Man oh man do I love me a good Park Min Young Drama. This is my 3rd one from her and each one that I watched I quite enjoyed. The storyline was simple so it didn't take a lot of brain cells to enjoy. It's a good palette refresher in between more heavy dramas. One of the negative points would be (and I saw this mentioned in another review) that the show could've ended 2 to 3 episodes before the actual end. I think there were a lot of "pointless" things added at the end and the show would've been fine ending on episode 13. I also think that the storyline was a little too predictable that's why I think that it should've ended sooner.
The actors (in my opinion) all did an excellent job and I don't believe there was any miscast in this drama. Loved the chemistry between the two ML. I think that Kim Sun Young did a fantastic job in her role.
I don't see a rewatch value as this was pretty much a one-time watch for me, as is most romantic dramas.
Overall I still recommend this drama as you can still enjoy it.

What more do you need?
This was the single greatest piece of cinematography I have watched since 2024. Ok maybe not to that point but still a great nonetheless. Really loved the way the story was told while we went back and fort from past to present and how throughout the show, the story was being detangled with details.Something I love about action show is when you have some good fight choreography. The fighting scenes were so delicious and you could see that each punch and throw were put there to tell the story.
Screaming and gagging at the last episode. Best.
Where is the second season?
Where is Lee Dong Wook's Oscar?
Why was So Min Hye such a queen?
Anyways, this is going straight to my favorite list.

Good until it's not
I've got to say I've skipped the majority of the show because of pointless storylines that I could not bring myself to watch.I also watched this drama for the main lead. Both of them did a great job and the chemistry was really good.
I know this drama was made in 2019 but some of the VFX are awful.
I had to put an overall 6.5 rating for this show since up until episode 40 the story is actually really interesting. I've found myself actually enjoying the two FML and laugh quite a lot. But after those episodes, the show just descend. The 4 last episodes are also so confusing and badly edited. I'm still very confused.
I would say that if you want to still watch the show, go for it. Maybe prepare yourself first on skipping some part and the last part of the show.

A breath of fresh air
wow, I can't believe that 16 one-hour episodes are gone like this. Why could we not have 20 more? I currently feel empty (maybe it's because of the number of times I've cried).I have to say I was very reluctant going into this show. I've never been one to enjoy medical drama and frankly am usually disgusted when operation scenes show up on my screen. I think this show cured me. It is also bizarre that I went into the second season before the first one but I wanted to watch this one because of the main lead. And then I stayed for basically the whole cast. I don't think there was someone misplaced in this show. Every crew member worked to give us this beautiful show.
I understand that this might not be better than the first season (from what I've seen in the comments) but I've laughed, cried, smiled, was sad and got also angry. I think for me this is what makes a good show. If you can evoke those emotions from your listeners, then you've done your job.
Story: There's quite a lot of show that uses the "ML from big city moves to small city", so I don't think it was anything new but I'm also not someone stops watching a show if a plot point has been used before. If the writers and directors are able to use this storyline well, then I'm happy to watch. We get to see a lot of real people dealing with real struggles. I also really like seeing the character's arc throughout the show. Some of them were redeemable and some I just wanted to through in the trash (I'm looking at you Dr. Yang Ho Joon). I usually like to have a strong female representation, but I think showing how the FL got from being week and unable to do her job and getting to where she was at the end was much more realistic in this situation.
Cast: I don't have anything to say on this part. I think everyone did an amazing job. I seriously felt like I was a fly on the wall and was experiencing their lives with them. I do hope that if there's a season 3, that I get to see them again.
Music: I don't know if it's just me but I usually don't pay too much attention to the music when I'm watching a show. Usually, if I'm noticing the music it could either mean that the song choice was so poorly chosen or that I really like the song. I think for this show there was one time that I noticed the song and I like it, so I would say that's a good job on their part.
Rewatch Value: ABSOLUTELY!
Overall: I'm not good at reviews. But if someone stumbles on this one and is looking for their next drama to watch, please pick it up. I'm actually going to pick the first season soon as I want to get the full context.

Is it really considered a love story?!
I have to say that I did not complete this show and don't know if I ever will.I feel really torn about this show. It is my second time trying to watch it. The first time I spoiled myself with the ending. Since the comments said the show had a tragic ending, at the time I only wanted to watch shows with a good ending so I decided to drop it. When I decided to go back to the show, fully knowing how it would end, I was prepared and ok with it. But watching the episodes and seeing how the ML abuse the FL, I can't take it.
The first line of the show's description literally says: ''A love story revolves around the 9th Princess of Western Liang as she journeys to the Central Plains to fulfill a marriage alliance with the Crown Prince.'' How are you going to call this a love story and have him abuse her every episode to "protect" her. Plus I've read that he actually rapes her. I'm sorry but I really can't do with any of that, and that she still falls in love with him despite all that he does to her.
Also, so many of the choices the other characters take really doesn't make sense and are more frustrating than enjoyable.
Sucks because I did quite like the plot about both of them losing their memories and the setting of the show.

Not what i was looking for...
Nothing wrong with this drama I just think it wasn't made for me.The start was promising and interesting but it went downhill pretty quickly. I don't know if it's maybe a miscast of just the show itself but it felt pretty childish. Like I was listening to captain hook or another Disney show. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy Disney movies and shows, I just could not get into this one. During the few episodes I've watched I didn't find myself being nervous about the main characters, there wasn't any stake and I knew they would get themselves out of the situations.
One of the good points is that the show features really cool sword fighting scenes. I think it's one of the best fighting choreography that I've seen as of yet and I wish to see more in future shows.
