Dashing Youth Indeed
just finished this a few minutes ago. as per Youku's production prior to this, it was quite a challenge for me to find a site to watch this comfortably (not in Netflix/wetv app or iqiyi which are usually the 3 sites I frequented for CDramas. Finally settled for watching in Dramacool site, despite the annoyance of having to filter all the popups *sighnow, on with the drama's review. The plot is nice enough, intriguing and appropriately interesting. The idea of a carefree handsome youth (which is somehow an influenced wealthy heir to an important family) finding his footing in the big jianghu world really grab me in, and Neo Hao did a good job playing the role of BLDJ. I used to have a crush on him in his A Girl Like Me and yes, he was as enchanting and handsome as ever. His portrayal of BLDJ is also appropriate and endearingly captivating. in fact, all of the characters did a good job and that made the stories flow perfectly well in my opinion. Though it looks like BLDJ seems like the ML here, and it was clear during the first half (or maybe the until the third quarter) of the show, I can't help but feel that they put so much emphasis on YDZ towards the end, and BLDJ just kinda fades in importance towards the end. Love the idea of the so called brotherhood that BLDJ and YY/YDZ shared as the main point of this story, but I cant help but think, the brotherhood was only based on the same scene when they were about 9/10-ish year old and there's not enough brotherhood thingy going on between adult BLDJ and YDZ shared to convince me of such high paid effort that BLDJ seems to extend towards YDZ and vice versa ( albeit lesser for the YDZ's part towards BLDJ). I feel like BLDJ shared more moments of ups and downs with SKCF as brothers compared to YDZ.
Acting was quite top notch if I may say so, and this extends to almost all characters in the drama, so it was quite heartening. I definitely was amazed that the younger actor who carried the role of NGCS can keep up with the vibes set up by the older and more experienced actor for the older Mr Li , causing the flow of Li Changsheng character to flow smoothly even though there is a transition from one actor to another, as if the NGCS character was acted out by one actor only, just donning a face mask. lol. This gives me quite a contrast to Li Hanyi's character, I love little Hanyi, but the adult version was just annoying, I dunno what the Writer was planning for that character. How can someone being raised alongside NGCS and was then later sent to someone like BLDJ can possibly grow up to be that kind of irritating, hollier-than-thou swordsman I wonder. In fact, in my mind, the ranking for the most annoying female character for this series are YueQing > Yi Wenjun > older Li Hanyi. (and wenjun only slightly above in the list due to the fact that she appears more than the adult Li Hanyi. lol). YueQing was such a useless character with no redeemable value at all in my eyes. very close minded, all she did was whine and throw tantrum while making her sister's underlings did all the works. And don't let me start with Yi Wenjun. I can symphatized with her life as someone who basically had no choice at all from the beginning and had to be a sacrificial pawn in the political board of Beili, and I can even understand why she needs to leave her first born in the palace when she first left, I can even understand how she felt the need to go back for her supposedly dying first born later, but the way she did it, and her decisions ultimately caused all the downfalls of important and strong characters. The romance between her and YDZ was also not so well developed and I just cant get into the ultimate love story to pity their failed love. Totally agrees with Ji Ruofeng's comment "beauty that is causing the downfall of a country" (or something to that effect) and I'm glad that BLDJ blames her for his brother's death, even though he thinks YDZ don't. With adult Li Hanyi acting all mighty and self-righteous with no power/life experience to back-up her annoying self, this concludes my list of 3 most annoying females in Dashing Youth. lol
Back to ML and FL, I think this is my first drama of FL and I quite like her. Yue Yao was also someone who is righteous, but is not clouded with power and was able to see the bigger picture. She was a steadfast supporter of BLDJ and I think, for BLDJ to become such an accomplished swordsman, YueYao was at least half a reason for it. in fact, I think, if BLDJ were to lose YY and his entire Marquis of Zhenqi's mansion like YDZ does, I am sure the turnout would not be quite so different with YDZ tbh. BLDJ was just lucky he was able to happily end up with someone like YY and get to keep his families and as such, was backed up by such a powerful family. The romance between ML and Fl was plentiful in the first half and I was sad that viewers were robbed of the chance to see them back in Qiandong City and get married (I mean, BLDJ has been taking YY left right and center with him all this while, and he still hasn't married the girl yet? the heck were you doing Dongjun?? I'm pissed). and though it was mention times and times again that BLDJ inspires to be a Liquor Deity, while his brother wants to be a Sword Deity, it seems that that inspiration fades into the background by the end of the stories, nothing whatsoever about Dongjun finally being renowned for that feat, after the episodes where he won with his Seven Starry Nights. In fact, much of the plot tails end up like this, with no satisfying closure. Mr Li disappears with no trace, what with the Marquis's mansion fate, seeing that Dongjun is the sole son/grandson of the hereditary title of Marquis of Zhenqi, what's the point of Li Hanyi being the second city lord of XueYue, what's the point of Ye Xiaofan's character coming back (is it only to say hi to YDZ and lets him off? lol), what happened to the 8 gentleman's (BLDJ's shishiongs-poor Gu fella only appears in the first few episodes lol), I was even irked why the need to go to such lengths to introduce certain characters like Zhao Yuzhen then didn't do anything with him. lol. There's lots of other knickknacks left untied but I guess there's that. I was also left unsatisfied with how the emperor seems to be let off with no repercussions whatsoever and nothing in the palace of Beili seems to change for the good while YDZ had to atone for his strains of bad luck. I was in a hate love relationship with Xiao Ruofeng's character. while he seems to be quite upright and just, he also enabled such an undeserving man to own the highest power, when he himself can fit much better in the shoes. So it's fine for him to be selfish by allowing himself not to be tied to the throne but it was wrong for others not to let them be sacrificed for the greater good? yes, I'm talking about YWJ's case here.
OSTs were quite nice. And not to mention, hats off to the costumes team. they did a splendid job! I was always looking forward to see the next costumes the characters donned every time, and I'm glad that the dashing costumes were not only limited to the main leads only and all the characters' costumes appear to be so well thought of and beautiful, be it for the men or the women. BLDJ and YDZ's costumes were amongst the most beautiful I've ever seen in wuxia series. YueYao's also all flowy and enchanting *love love love. And truly, as per the series name, all the characters are dashing in their own right, it was literally a feast for the eyes. lol.
All in all, I probably will be looking around for this so called sequel of Dashing Youth -the blood of youth. Hopefully it can kept me watching till the end lol

Mixed feelings
Just finished this. Initially, I was so pumped up to start watching this after seeing an excerpt from IG. Started off intriguing , however it mellows down and gets less and less point towards the end i feel. I think it is interesting idea for 2 people to start anew and fell in love again the second time rightfully however, towards the middle, i find that LiRong’s character is somehow like weeds in the wind, just blindly flying wherever the so called truth revelation goes. The chemistry between LiRong and Pei Wenxuan is also on and off to me, sometimes Li Rong is too aloof and PWX appears to be in love by himself. But my biggest pet peeve is with SRQ’s character. Firstly his voice character is totally off to me, it doesnt sound charismatic enough to my ears, playing the role of an aristocrat. The acting also has so much room for improvement, especially being the ultimate villain/second lead. It makes the villain so weak tbh. The plot sometimes also annoyed me. It keeps on going on and on about the noble families vs commoners, but in the end, nothing was resolved. The emperor is off gallivanting somewhere with his sweetheart, and now we have a female regent with her husband. And they dont even show their much awaited first child! Li Chuan also seems too young for the role. It doesnt give enough conviction to viewers. I love Jinmai from her previous role, but I guess, this role is too ‘adult’ for her as well *shrugsOne thing I like though, the costumes are plenty and beautiful. The cinematography is also nice. Not much to say regarding the ost. They were not used enough in the drama to make an impact to me. All in all, it was an ok watch for me, but very likely not to be rewatched again

Nice light movie
This is my first drama of both FL and ML and i was wholly surprised by their performance.I was just trying my luck and randomly choose to watch this. Havent know anything about this series prior to watching, havent seen any trailer, just came across this reel in IG once. The plot is typical, nothing too elaborated or havent seen before but it’s light and well played, so i have no qualm about that. The FL’s acting caught my attention, she was quirky and the way she delivered her lines matched up with the savageness of her character and i was very well entertained. Lol. The FL grab my attention to keep watching even before the ML has the chance to (i grow to like the ML later). Cant believe this is Gu Xiang from WOH though. I just know it after coming here after finishing the series. Lol. She has the potential to be the next FL roles and I would like to see more of her. The ML has potential as well and the vibe he was giving can very well melt you as well (but still shows some innocence of first love. Lol). I love that even though theres heart breaks in between, the laugh scene can still be flawlessly inserted.
I like how they developed the second love story as well. Convincing, while not taking over the love story between the ML and FL. I just had some issue with Su Zheng as the ML contender, i feel like SZ’s character is not developed enough or been given screentime enough to be able to bring up a challenge to the ML.
The ost sounds nice as well. Though nothing that stuck with you long after.

Finally a decent firefighter drama!
I was actually in quite a C-drama slump, i guess, since finishing Love Like the Galaxy. Havent been able to quite finishing the dramas i’ve started after that (still have 4 episodes of love between fairy and devil to go thru and still havent had the heart to continue it right now. Lol). So basically, this is the first drama i finished since then. Quite a feat i would say, even though it took me almost a month. LolFirst of all, i would say, finally theres a drama who did the firefighter theme well in my opinion. From start to finish, i like that they stick to what firefighters do best in their line of work, which is putting down fire and rescue mission. I was literally praying they wont do what Flaming Heart did and suddenly encroached into things like drug smuggling out of nowhere. Lol. The rescue scenes are well done enough in my opinion, theres fire scenes, typhoon scenes as well as accidents scenes. Well done! The medical scenes are as usual, 50-50 hit and miss. Coming from a medical background, i still havent see doctors work done well in dramas. Maybe knowing what needs to be done and watching that it’s not in the drama took away some of the hype. Haha
The love story between Nan jie and the younger firefighter is refreshing. I bawled my heart out when he died. Opps.
Yang yang and WCR. Hmmm. I guess the chemistry is there, but it is not smouldering or anything. It was convincing enough i guess. Just not love story of the year. This is my first drama of WCR and she did well. And pretty. Looks quite natural and make up was appropriate for the role of a doctor.
First 10ish episodes was quite slow. It takes perseverance for me to keep on watching but it picks back up around 1/3rd in. Im not sure why they feel the need to include the tangent of Song Yan being a special force soldier before becoming a firefighter though. And there’s quite some link to glory of special force as well, what with the same actor cameo from GOSF in this drama as well. Did these two dramas have same director/producer?
And of course, shout out to most annoying irritating mother award of the year. Lol. Sometimes i felt like squeezing the life out of Qin Qin’s mother, erghhhhh so overbearing and cannot be reason with woman! Some people said the drama did Ye Zi bad by turning her character into such a slobe but i guess they need that to teach xu qin’s mother the taste of her own medicine. Im glad they redeemed Ye Zi at the end though.
Ost are good as well. Glad to hear Na Ying’s voice after so long (love her with Xiao Zhan in Our Song!). And I especially love the song on rescue scene! I listen to it previously sung by Bai Jinting prior to Fireworks of my heart being broadcasted, and already love it then. So it was quite a surprise to hear it as this drama’s ost.
Finally,i was glad to have found a firefighter themed drama done well like this one. After Flaming Heart and that one drama (i forgot what its name) by ren jialun, i almost gave up finding one.

Walking down memory lane
Actually, am not planning to watch this drama because it was from quite some time ago (2016 was quite a number of years for a drama. Lol), but i came across a clip of xiao nai’s accident in youtube and being a male lead whump fan, i was intrigued, started to watch ep 8-10, and then i was sold, so had to go back and watch from the start. Lol.Firstly, i just got to know YY recently from his WRTW, then watched YAMG and GOSF and wow, how YY has matured and improved as an actor. I’m glad i got to know him in 2022 though. Lol. Btw, whats with YY and drama related with gaming? Are all his modern dramas must include some sort of gaming theme going on? ??
Nonetheless, i must say, YY in love o2o was such a green actor when you are coming from 2022. Haha. Notably, i found his hand gestures in the drama were consistently awkward, especially when Xiao Nai was explaining things in detail/presenting. and it doesnt help that as a CEO, he needs to do that quite a lot. Lol. Acting a cold, aloof god like Xiao Nai with a face such as Yang Yang’s was an easy feat to sell i think.
Plot wise, when looking from a lens of 2016 production, i would say it was acceptable. It gave me the same vibe of Jerry Yan’s meteor garden to the 2001’s me. Aaahhhh brings back so much fond memory! Lol. I get how comments from youtube from years ago were basically all gushing about this drama. Understandably, if you watch this 2016 production from 2022’s lens, you will probably find this to be overrated. A pretty face with a cold exterior, rich guy, a ceo, intelligent to boot, pro hacker/programmer. whats not to like? Hahaha
Come to think of it, YAMG now seems like a finer, improved adult version of Love O2O in a way. Where Love O2O was basically revolving around college to graduating period, YAMG caters more towards late 20’s adult period. Of course, being a product of 2021, YAMG was leaning more towards an equal standing, give-and-take kind of relationship as compared to the ‘toxic’ relationship that some people from recent years were raging about in Love O2O where the ML was more dominant and in-charge *roll eyes
Other things i would like to mention but was too lazy to put in a paragraph, so bullet points it is:
-xiao nai is too perfect. Lol. He’s a senior but then his transition to being a ceo, having his own company office and staffs and his lavish spending and lifestyle seems quite illogical sometimes. I mean, it was understandable if he was a millionaire’s son in the first place, but the writer just put him as a professors’ son only ?
-the fangirls in the campus really annoyed me. Hahahhahaa. I mean, he’s just a senior (albeit a spectacular one at that), no need to flock around him everywhere with mobile phones right in front of his face everywhere on campus’s ground
-the FL’s kissing scene was realllllyyy disappointing. Lol. Coupled it YY’s enthusiastic kissing, it pretty much create an oceanwide difference effect haha
-talking about the FL, i thought this is my first drama of hers, but going thru her list of dramas in Mydramalist, turns out she was also the FL in Chronicle of life! Watched that drama some years ago and i quite like it. But i did not recognise it was the same actress!
- plus side: i like ML’s sidekicks’ acting. Especially, yu banshan. Quite natural to me
-sooooo manyyyy annoying females sidekicks though. Notably Nana and the Xiaoyu clan. Typical jealous low IQ/EQ bitches. Hahaha. Chao Guang was also annoying to boot. Feels like kicking him to the curb! Aishh. Such an superficial guy
-KO and Hao Mei’s awkward almost BL side story. Lol. Not sure where the scriptwriter wanna go with it. Lol
-OST are nice, especially the ending song sung by YY. I fall in love with that song much earlier after a browse around in youtube, wayyy before i decided to give this drama a go
All in all, it was a good enough drama to pass the time, especially if you are a new YY’s fan like me and is revisiting some of his earlier works. Just maybe try to imagine you are watching this in 2016 and you will do just fine. Lol. Dont compare it with dramas/acting coming from 2021/22 era. Dont expect much in terms of plot development etc. it was just so that you can just gush over the ML’s god like perfect person and fragile, need-to-be-protected FL. Lol

Light rom com
Finished this about a week ago and i’d say i find another ML gem in Hou Ming Hou. This is my first drama of him and i really like his portrayal of Rong Xia. He makes rong xia so charming, handsome but at the same time, adorable, esp when he was drinking vinegar! LolThis is also my first drama of guan xiaotong and even though her ban hua takes a little time to grow on me, it definitely grew on you later, part of it thanks to rong xia. I definitely think having a soft spot on rong xia first mellows me towards the ban hua’s character later on.
However, i must say that for a historical drama, theres a few things that i have questions on:
-rong xia is basically just a minister, but he was basically given too much importance by the emperor to me, it was sometimes quite absurd.
-same with ban hua. Not sure she should be allowed such ‘power’, sensibly speaking. Being only just a xianzhu/junzhu, sometimes she got away with too much, as compared to say, the emperor blood second son by the empress ?. I mean, i get that her grandmother is the royal princess, but still, tone it down a little! Lol
-wherever is the emperor’s other consort? Lol. Well, maybe he just had the empress? Lol
-i still dont know whether rong xia should be versed in martial arts or not until the end? Sometimes he is, sometimes he’s not?
-everytime, it was always ban hua who got hurt, and even if rong xia got hurt initially as well (when he drank the poison to help ban hua counters hers and also when someone was sent to kill him), he was always portrayed to be completely well and healed on the next scene and it frustrates me. Lol
But overall, i really like this dramas. It is not too heavy and of course, as i said, rong xia is sooo adorbs i cant even. Lol. Not too mention, i like that the ban’a family is such a laid back family, with such a supportive parents and of course, a street-smart, silly little brother. Ban heng’s story with xie wanjun (and ban huai’s bickering with xie wanjun’s father) is a nice touch.
Ost is quite nice as well.

Awesome!
First of all, i’d say that it is worth the 2years wait we all have done for this drama to be aired. First 2 episodes, initially i thought this is gonna be a typical drama of a girl having a daddy problem, which later found the love of her life and was swept away to heaven. But well, i’m glad to be wrong.Where to start? Hmmm…maybe with Yang Zi. Tbh, this is my first YZ’s drama for me, having not watching her ashes of love due to fantasy not being my cup of tea. Though being such a popular heroine, i’ve always heard of her stint. I really like her portrayal of LZX, especially so coming from Heart of Jade just before i start on TOOL (where i’m having a bit of a likehate relationship with the FL), i can see the difference between the 2 FLs. YZ’s acting is more mature, she has a great face expression and you can easily empathise with LZX in a lot of scenes. Kudos to yang zi!
And as for XZ? What more can i say? Total swoon-worthy of course! As usual, XZ’s acting is superb, his eyes convey so much with so little expression, and of course, who can resist a competent handsome tall man in a white coat?! Lol. Obviously not me.
Plot is good. Might have a bit of a plot hole here and there, but it doesnt take the pleasure out of watching. I must say, this drama has the most satisfying ending for me personally. The wedding, the father’s letters, the scene with their 7yo son, it all came to such a beautiful tie up for the drama’s ending. LZX’s growing up is done beautifully and her relationship with her father almost always had me in tears, especially towards the end. TOOL had me giggling in all its cheesy/lovey dovey scenes and bawling my eyes out in equal measures. The chemistry between XZ and YZ are chefkiss!
I had issues with sansan in almost 2/3rd of the series though. I mean, her immaturity and the way she kept on parting her infinite wisdom (not!) to LzX is really grating on my nerves. But i guess, it goes to highlight how much mature LZX is compared to her peers who havent gone thru what she did personally. I dont know if i missed it or what, but i would like for them to tie up what happened to sansan and gu xiao though at the end, but ah well, we cant have it all right.
Ost are nice as well. The duet song between YZ and XZ especially sounds fairytale like! When they first performed the song almost a year ago at an award show, i’ve already get a disney’s vibe from the song. Soo nice! And of course, XZ’s solo song is nice as well.
All in all, TOOL is awesome i end up between two minds whether or not to marathon it and at the same time, trying to delay watching so as to make it last more! Lol

Nice enough drama
Am currently in an attempt to watch more of Neo Hao's dramas after his Dashing Youth, so decided to give this a go. It was a nice enough drama for me, enough to get me watching till the end in maybe a week? Coming from Dashing Youth, seeing Tianyao with his poker face and cold-ish attitude, it was getting a bit used to. lol. His carefree and naughty spoiled Baili Dongjun was still fresh in my mind I guess. But one thing for sure, Neo Hao was still as handsome as ever! His makeup and hairdo as TY doesn't seem that much different though from BLDJ (except from when he became baby dragon. lol) I was a big fan of Neo Hao from his A Girl Like Me era, so getting back to his works doesn't seem to be a chore. I always like his acting since then, and I could say his acting still kept me interested in his work. Coupled with Zhao Ye (whom I'd seen in Everyone Loves Me and liked), I'd say I enjoyed this drama. The chemistry is there between them two, however sometimes, it seems off as well. I guess maybe it is due to TY having to keep his cold demeanor that somehow he seems quite standoff-ish and affects the feel of chemistry between them. I still like them two together though. In terms of plot, being a fantasy genre, I guess sometimes things doesn't make much sense, and I would just like to just accept the nonsense and rolled on. lol. There is a reason fantasy genre is just my least favorite genre of all. But all the hero whump dose I get from this drama is definitely my cup of tea. lol. One thing I realized though, TY's costumes are all so beautiful and expensive looking, even from the start when he only sets out in search of his body parts. Coupled with Neo Hao's looks, I'm diggin' it! Guess the production really spoiled him. ZY's outfits are mostly beautiful too, probably only missing out a couple. But the costumes in which they got married was to die for! so beautiful and ethereal. 10/10! Others' not so much though, so I guess the budget goes to the main leads' costumes. lol
Villains in this drama were quite weak tbh. Suying was annoying with her obsession with Luo Musheng but I cannot stand Lingfei erghhhh felt like stepping on her everytime! Fu Yin's face was not that convincing as the ultimate villain and I was admittedly quite bored towards the end of the series, during the Phantom King trope. The SML was ok enough. He brings comedy factor to the story though I was getting annoyed sometimes when he decided to keep the FL to himself out of nowhere. The ending was quite ambiguous to me at first, and I only understood it after lurking around to find explanation in mydramalist lol. OST was quite nice though, and was used quite extensively in a lot of scenes. I remembered I was laughing so hard at a few scenes during watching, but for the life of me, I cant really recall what is it right now. haha.
All in all, definitely worth watching, especially for anyone who loves Neo Hao (or looking for a drama with drop dead ML lol) and Zhao Ye.

it's a rewatch!
this is a review after a rewatch. I watched this back when it was first aired in 2020 and I still remember how I waited every week for the new episodes to come out in their official YouTube channel. and when I first found mydramalist a couple of years later, I remember I rated this as 9.5. not sure why I suddenly had the urge to rewatch this again, but I still like this the second time around, even if some things became slightly more obvious to me during this rewatch. and because of that, I rated it down a little this time (still an 8.5-9.0 for me though. lol)Ok, first lets go through the pros:
-I really love the chemistry between ML and FL. Even from earlier episodes, their chemistry was chef kiss. All their lovey dovey scenes were making me feeling all the glory of my single hood. lol When the general pampered his wife, I was literally squealing , not to mention when he was being protective of her. This pro remains the best thing in both my first watch and rewatch
-Caeser Wu's acting here was brilliant and it makes me want to search more of his works. however, I remember watching his other work and felt his acting was off there (maybe because I absolutely cannot stand his then FL's acting. haha sorry). I especially like how he broke down during the quicksand scene when his lady saying her final goodbye expecting their little family to die together, I can feel a mighty general's helplessness during that scene and how he broke down crying after was beautiful and heartwarming
-the plot, even though doesn't make that much sense sometimes, goes well with the lighthearted theme it seems to portray on
-the costumes were mostly beautiful, though not all, some is a miss as well. lol
-OST was very nice. and can be heard all through the drama, not just the beginning and ending like some drama's osts
-due to its lighthearted genre, and not so long episodes, a rewatch is possible
The cons:
-hate the fl's younger sisters. lol. such an empty minded green-eyed bitches
-the final bad guy (Situ) was a weak villain (and who the hell believe a guy taking someone as his little sister after just a game?)
-on my rewatch, I have a slight problem with Jin Er behaving childishly, only creating ruckus and end up having the General to solve them for her. However, during the second half of the story, I cant help but blame the General always acting alone and refuse to sit down and explain his plan, even though it is obvious that his wife will be involved no matter what. this leads Jin Er to act blindly and falls into wrong hands, I mean, trust should be a two way street right? The general shouldn't expect Jin Er to follow his words blindly when it is her and her families' sake at risk.
-the love story between Xiuyuan and Ruonan was not that well developed to me. and when compared to the smothering chemistry between Chu Xiuming and Jin Er, the difference became that much glaring
All in all, I enjoyed this even on the second watch. So I guess, there is that lol. Recommended if you are looking for something lighthearted and with 65% comedy. lol

Feel good drama
Accidentally started watching this because I was a fan of baijinting, and end up liking the FL as well. I think this was my first drama of hers and i like her acting. Not sure if it was her voice or was dubbed, but the voice suits her character. She played innocent but steadfast character well and it’s not coming across as annoying as some actress came to be when trying to be ‘innocent’. The character building was also done well in my opinion. From the spoilt village girl who was brought up in a monogamous family, to a lady who understood well how the palace politics work, and able to adapt to it well to support her husband, without sacrificing her values.Plot was very women empowerment centric, and love how the wives found support in each other. The ML though at first appears calculating owing to the fact that he was brought up as someone who was overlooked from child, matured to a capable leader under the pillar of his wife’s support. It was a feel good drama with a lot of conflicts, but not an earth shattering ones, just something they have to solve along the way. Lol. I love not having to think so much while watching dramas, sometimes too many a plot/crisis makes me feel like i’m doing homework instead of watching dramas for fun. Lol
Ost was not that hyped up, none that sticks to mind that is. But the costumes was quite nice and even though there were nine states to be kept track of, they were introduced well during the leads’ adventure. Villains are appropriate and served their purpose. Lol. I love how the second prince was brought down and sent to the border while the fourth prince received different fate just because he realised his fault earlier and atoned.
Might not rewatch this, but my first watch of this is fun and i was well entertained. Lol

Worth your time
Although waiting for months (not for a year if i were to start on S1 earlier while it just came out) to see the continuation because of the stupid rule is a pain in one’s bum, im still very much enjoyed the continuation. The part 2 is mostly mellow though compared to part 1, mainly because all the climax and flirting already happened in part 1 and it feels like there were only a few strands left to be tighten up (or maybe thats because i’ve been spoiled so much prior to watching? Lol)Yang Zi was fabulous in this as usual, but the story really was made more awesome by good acting from her male leads as well, mostly CX, jing and XL, not so much on FL though since his part is not that much compared to the other 3. Good job to these actors. Though it was such a bum to see how XY’s wedding was not so grand and lavish or how much cartoonish the fight scene that took Jing away for almost 1/3rd of the Jing’s presence in part 2. XL’s death scene was appropriately set up, worthy of his role.
All in all, it was clear to see how CX is only destined to be there beside XY as her gege/protector (though I was surprised to see they were able to make CX confess the truth to XY prior to her wedding) and it was only Jing who can put everything away and put XY first whatever comes. Xiang liu, even though he may love her as well, is not a man who can leave everything behind to be beside XY like Jing can, so the only virtuous way he can show his love to XY is by making it possible for someone who loves her as well to be with her to the end, and to protect her silently from the shadow. Feng Long is just there for the ride though. Lol. He’s just a convenient suitor when the other 3 guys were in a mess. Lol. Sorry feng long!
OST are chef kiss! Not sure about rewatching this though. Maybe later. Now, on to the next drama!

A pot of good and not so good things
Pros:
- The chemistry between ML and FL was good and fast established. I can get into their love story from even the earlier episodes
- I especially love how childish the mighty Crown Prince behaves in front of his wife lol.
- The battle scenes when the two lords tried to kill Li Ni was done rather well i think. The death of Li Ni’s comrades while trying to protect him was heartbreaking, even more heartbreaking than the death of Cui Lin’s tbh. Haha
Cons:
- funny how cui lin/liu chengfeng’s actor decided to act out his character. It was especially bad when he tried to emulate a villain after his almost fatal injury, the acting was so bad i almost get a secondhand embarrassment. It was so cringy, like he was trying so hard to be bad, only to appear as constipated.
- And because of that, I feel like the 3rd half of the series is especially hard to go thru since that’s the arc where Liu Chengfeng appears the most, trying to be the villain. Unfortunately, the second prince somehow carries out the villain role better than Liu Chengfeng ironically. Lol
- as much as I quite like the FL, I was quite done with her when she throws a tantrum on Li Ni after Li Ni arrived late to only just save her, and not her so called ‘xiongzhang’. The hell! That xiongzhang of hers had just basically slaughtered half of Li Ni’s brothers/comrades helloooo dont you think it was too laughable to expect Li Ni to return salt with honey? Be realistic please! So you can watch your people slight Li Ni, but you cannot accept Li Ni to do basically (half) the same?
- Tbh, the plot was a lil on the weak side, especially when the story progressed into the palace storyline. By the end when it showed that the prime minister was the final bad guy, it was glaringly obvious i was mentally throwing my hands into the air. Like, how come the emperor is that stupid? With that stupidity, he wont even make it to the throne in the first place tbh. On one end, it was completely stupid not to establish power over your own soldiers/having no troops at all under your command, especially if you dont even trust your own son. Secondly, when you heard your son’s beloved wife passed away suddenly, the first thing you think is he came to usurp the throne? Like, the hell?!! (And where exactly is Cui Yi, doesnt such big news such as taizifei’s death spread? Not to mention, when the imperial physician diagnosed the taizifei’s death in the first place, they should have reported it to the emperor first, and yet, no one told him until Gu Wanniang made a sob story a day after. Lolllll) Plus, the last battle scene was so pathetic, Li Ni only stormed the palace with about a dozen soldiers to settle the problem. Lol. Such an anti-climax! The battle during Li Ni’s two brothers’ mutiny was even better climax
- The emperor’s sudden change of heart towards Li Ni was sooo sudden, it was laughingly unbelievable. Like, can you even make an effort dear writers?
- I dont even know how Li Ni still has the idea of making Xuanzhe the next emperor and for him to retire back to Laolan’s Pass (like seriously, after being an emperor? Do you think thats even doable? Even if he abdicated, wont Xuanzhe worry he will take back the throne someday? Or Li Ni’s sons?) Ahh i guess, i took it too seriously lol. Maybe in an ideal world, theres no more drama as long as Xuanzhe took the throne. Hihi

So and so
Finished this maybe a week or two ago, let’s see how much i remember. LolThis was my second drama of Jeremy Xu and i just can’t help but thinking, “i’ve seen him playing a role like this before” and going thru his list of dramas, i found that he’s also in The Autumn Ballad and i think theres not much difference between his Liang Yi and his Ji Yuansu. I was a bit disappointed tbh. I also found that the character was not build very well, first they were like, ‘this taizi tianxia is someone who has nothing to do, just playing around all day, doesnt care to deal with court matters that much’. Then he was also ‘the feared and ruthless taizi tianxia’. But at the same time, he is ‘the apple of his emperor father’s eyes’. Whatever he did, he will get support from the emperor. I found that those character just doesnt fit together, not convincing enough, or probably a case of poor writing/character building.
As for the FL, lol, im not sure why, but i cant relate that Hua Liuli is Meng Zi Yi. Of course knowing MZY from The Untamed a few years ago, i probably forgot how her face looks like in between. Lol. As for the character Hua Liuli. For basically initial 1/3rd of the episodes, i was getting quite more and more annoyed with how they are trying to sell Hua Liuli as someone fragile and sickly. She redeemed the character for a while in the middle when she stepped up and became the badass martial artist after being kidnapped, but became boring again after that like whyyyyy!!!!
The plot, sad to say is all over the place and sometimes appears not convincing enough. Not gonna rewatch this for sure. In fact, it think i almost forgot whats the story was all about already.
All in all, it was fine for a first watch (heyyy at least i can power thru and finished all the episodes!) but yeah, thats it. Nothing to mention home about sorry

Annnddd Shaodian Youqin and Chaofeng Tianxia lives happily ever after! LoL
Ok. Done marathoning this in basically 3days with panda eyes and a building migraine from lack of sleep. LolPlot was catching with enough ‘cold hearted leads with shuai faces’ and comedy weaved throughout. I have problem sometimes deciding where to stop for the day and keep on clicking next episode, so guess the plot was catchy.
Nice to see CXX again after the complete tragedy that was Goodbye my princess. Lol. Still remember that tragic ending until now. Lol. Not sure if he used his own voice, but it sounds different than usual male lead’s voice. His acting sometimes seems off, but surprisingly all together came across as appealing to me. Dunno why. Lol. One thing for sure though, he’s still crying with all his heart (complete with the ugly crying face) lol but you cant blame the guy, you ask him to cry and he delivers! Lol.
This is my first drama of the FL and i was genuinely surprised by how much I like her acting. She doesnt come across as annoying (some FL does when acting as a carefree mischievous girl) and she cries beautifully. I was initially hoping for not typical plot where siblings backstabbing each other due to being pampered/ignored from childhood and thank god the drama made them such a close sisters. Qingkui’s actress do a good job in bringing forth such a soft spoken well mannered pampered character, but still not coming out as a helpless character waiting to be rescued.
2nd male lead also did a good job. Even though at first i was annoyed with him with all his scheming, he was able to mellow me down after few episodes when he starts falling for qingkui. I was laughing like crazy when he was berated by Qingkui’s father from get go. Hahaha
Of course the ending has left much to be desired. It would be nice to see the happy ever after with the 2 couples rather than only the bromance between SDYQ and CF only, though it makes the ending hilarious in a way.
Theres probably few plotholes here and there (or rather few nitpickings) -how the hell SDYQ is supposed to be all powerful being with high cultivation and almost always end up need to be rescued by FL or lost his memories time and time again! Lol, but i enjoyed watching this so much. Totally looking forward to more works by them in the future

Lighthearted family drama
Just finished this basically 2 mins ago and writing this at 4.20am. Lol.Well, this is for me such a lighthearted drama, no need to think so much and just go with the flow kind of thing. Haha. This is my first drama of the ML and FL and I was quite fascinated with their acting and chemistry. The ML is handsome, has the ML ceo vibe to him and his acting was quite natural. His cutesy acts doesnt look forced and when he is in stern mode, he exudes quite a believable ceo vibe. It doesnt quite hurt that i was a sucker for a sick/whump ML trope. Hahaha. FL quite reminded me of the FL in Whats Wrong With Secretary Kim (a korean drama) and I like how her character is trying to be strong. Even though it might come across as quite annoying to some sometimes, but i think it was believable that she acts that way, anyone would have to become used to stand on her own after years of not having someone to back u up and at the same time, having to raise a small human on your own. The relationship might came across as ‘toxic’ in the beginning to some, but i like how they wrote it to be such an understanding giveNtake 2 way relationship by the end.
The child actor for Quanquan is probably the star of the show, what with how much role his character plays in bringing the ML and FL together. He’s sooo cute! And quirky and smarty pants. Haha. I just cant quite get why a child would call his mother by her name though. Hahaha
It is quite weird how a sickly adopted son raised to such a high power figure in the drama, but im glad it’s not being made as another point for dramatic excuse. Haha. Xin Qi’s adopted sister was funny as well. Haha.
The osts are quite nice, I especially love the ending song. Though another 2 english songs were quite cringy in their lyrics (and having to read it every time in wetv while it plays is making the cringe doubled sometimes. Haha)
Actually, i came to watch this drama after seeing cuts from youtube of the ML whump scenes. And im glad i did!
