Shallow Plot, Unbearable Characters, and a Waste of Time to Watch

Actors

Both lead actors look great, and one of the reasons I wanted to watch was because I like the lead actor.

Music

The music is terrible.

Plot

The plot is shallow and particularly irritating.
It feels strange from the start, with no real context or realistic elements.
Instead of facing new challenges, the story keeps bringing back past characters, especially exes.
The constant reappearance of past characters is very frustrating, as it avoids dealing with other difficulties and challenges.

Characters

Both main characters are unbearable.
The female lead is a pathological liar, making it hard to understand why anyone would fall for her. She's a people-pleaser at any cost, which I find completely unappealing. I have no patience for such characters.
Her character doesn’t wise up or grow, and from what I gathered, she keeps lying, so it didn’t interest me.
The male lead is equally insufferable due to his passive nature—he never takes responsibility or direct action, always relying on deception.

Overall
The first half is decent and somewhat entertaining, but from the second half, when the ex returns, it becomes unwatchable unless you skip most scenes. I would have skipped watching it altogether and wouldn’t recommend it.

I gave the series a second chance after 4 years.

Story:

Nothing New Under the Sun, a funny and routine Japanese romance. It includes ALL possible tropes (serious car accident, one partner being ill and the other taking care of them, love triangle, stalker, one of the partners needing to study abroad, the shared futon forcing them to get closer, amusement park, the infamous ice cream accident, everything, everything, everything).

It is very reminiscent of the series "They Kiss Again" with the clumsy, unintelligent woman who makes mistakes and falls in love with an intelligent, apathetic, and even somewhat mean doctor. In the end, after much persistence and tireless efforts, she captures his heart.
Is it possible to capture the heart of someone out of our league? It is only possible in Asian movies.

Christian and educational aspect seen in Japanese series, and it is evident here as well. This worked well up to episode 6, combining humor and excitement, butterflies in the stomach, and tears, as it is still a hospital drama and something always happens.

As you grow older, you realize that the figure of the Virgin Mary( FL) represents the qualities that will bring you love and blessings in life. On the other hand, as you age, it becomes increasingly difficult to accept this figure because you discover your own flaws and your inability to be like the Virgin Mary, even when you try very hard. This can create frustration, and it’s intriguing to think about how the average Japanese person feels when this is constantly imposed on them. It's not easy. On the other hand, you can't judge it because a person (at least a normal one) aspires to this highest good.

Actors:

The actors are excellent, the main actor less so; he has moments where he feels like a manga character more than necessary, but later he loosens up.
The lead actress is excellent.
They have electrifying chemistry and are very compatible in the intimate scenes; it is noticeable to the extent that it is hard to understand why because it's a very handsome guy and a cute and average girl, not feminine, very unkempt. She very much resembles the actress Yoon Eun Hye at the beginning of her career, especially her smile, but the Korean actress was really attractive and appealing, she had something very feminine about her. In contrast, the Japanese actress is not attractive at all, and her clothing is not appealing either. But it's also something beyond that makes her physically less attractive. This is not accidental and comes up in one of their scenes.

Music:

The music is excellent, very invested and beautiful in various scenes; it works great. Towards the end, less so, and this happens a lot when they start overusing the main song just to play it.

Can you rewatch it? Yes, you can.
I think only their intimate scenes are worth rewatching because they are both full of passion and humor.

What doesn't work as well?

The endless collection of tropes and the continuous educational series that goes on and on, reaching the point where it becomes tedious and you have to skip scenes, until it really becomes a bit tiresome, which is a shame because until episode 6, it kept the flame alive. But from episode 7, there were scenes that should have been skipped, especially the car accident and the long study trip. It wasn't executed gracefully enough to watch like at the beginning. This series is not timeless; it also does not feature anything special except for the cute moments between them. I don't think they are capable of breaking out of their tropes, but still, I think that if there are already tropes, they should have added more lightness.

This series was supposed to be dark

Story:

I tried watching it in 2015, and it didn't work. This time, I finished the series, and these are my conclusions.

In my opinion, this series was supposed to be completely dark, or at least more grotesque and artistic, something that would highlight the improbable storyline.

Because the girl actually disappeared for real and stayed in the guy's heart with regret. This could have been a beautiful drama if it ended with the understanding that you can't turn back time, just like all his dreams; it was all one long dream.

It didn't work as a comedic drama Because it wasn't funny enough. There were certainly very beautiful scenes, like the dreams, which were funny and creative, but there weren't many funny scenes. Sometimes you feel like you're watching a children's movie and sometimes an adult one other times it's just boring. This actually happens in many Japanese series, but because there was no comedic value, it couldn't bridge the gap at all.

Acting:

The girl's acting was not good or convincing at all. She had two critical scenes where she had the chance to showcase her acting skills and turn it into an amazing scene, but she failed. In both scenes where he told her he didn't love her, at the beginning and about halfway through, she missed the mark.

Music:

Debussy's music was beautiful at the beginning. but then it disappeared completely. The opening song was not good either.

Moving and tear-jerking, a love that is out of this world.

Story
A rather simple and typical story, childhood love, terminal illness—things we've seen a lot in Japanese films. But still, the story keeps you glued to the screen without a dull moment.

Acting/Cast
Although I think the lead actor isn't the best there is, the one who truly stands out is the lead actress, one of the most excellent and beautiful actresses in Japan. It's very likely that she is the one who made the film what it is, and she was irreplaceable.

Rewatch Value
There's something fantastical about this movie, very nostalgic. At the end of the 20th century and the first decade of the 21st century, Asian films were sort of a reconstruction of the 1980s in the USA films with a love larger than life that you could still believe in.

Western plot, achievements for the sake of fulfillment

Story
There's not a single good thing about this series except Nishigataki.
The plot is Western, with an actor who looks particularly Korean, as is typical of series in recent years... Even the song sounds Korean.

The series is boring, with no development or excitement, very banal. The romance isn't romantic, and the girl lacks any character, yet she wants to be a designer, which is the basis for creativity. Like all movies about aspiring fashion designers who suffer on their way to achieving their dream, this strange hype that started with "The Devil Wears Prada"—perhaps because the movie succeeded ( Maybe because massive investment of fashion giants?)—has forced us to endure this phenomenon for years. It's always the same and always boring. I don't understand why anyone would want to watch this.
I've never understood these series.
Is it because women like to buy clothes? Is it because some women think that designing clothes will bring them self-fulfillment? It's hard to understand.

The ending surprised me a lot, even though I skipped most of the scenes. Despite the main character lacking any personality, her strange choice to keep dating a gigolo instead of her best friend, who is reliable, kind-hearted, caring, and doesn't lie or live off her, still surprised me. Usually, Japanese series have wise choices in the end. Since this isn't a truly Japanese series, like many in recent years, they probably had a reason to abandon their usual values here too.

Acting/Cast
The casting of new young lead actresses in romantic series in recent years is a big mystery to me. Is it because of behind-the-scenes connections, agencies, influencers, ratings? It used to be important for her to look Japanese: the same hairstyle, relatively sharp features, small slanted eyes, and a pleasant voice. Today, the preference seems entirely different; it’s better for her to be less beautiful with minimal acting talent, expression, and a high-pitched, childish, or whiny voice.

About the younger generation lacking intimacy,

It seems this series has a message about the younger generation, which lacks desires or the will to have intimate relationships, suggesting that "everything is fine, you can live with this distortion" without addressing the causes and roots of these mental issues.

Story
A story about someone who is unable to maintain a intimacy relationship with his girlfriend, and both of them have to deal with the consequences. In my opinion, it's a diamond plot that could have been polished to reach particularly interesting places without forcing a contrived ending.
A good few years ago, Japanese series sometimes ended with an open ending or an unsatisfactory one. Today, this is hardly accepted; they always have to force a happy ending on the characters, even if it feels contrived and not right.

Acting/Cast
I am referring only to the main actors because the rest did not interest me, and I skipped their scenes.
The main actor is stunningly handsome; it's hard to know his acting abilities since, in my opinion, he wasn't really given a chance to show any emotional depth. On the other hand, the main actress was truly unbearable, and her acting abilities were nonexistent.

Music
The series' song was so successful that it distracted from the boredom of some scenes.

Overall
I don't have a problem with it being an educational program about intimacy, as most Japanese series are like that. However, I felt like I was watching a Korean or Western series because they tried to impose very different values from those usually conveyed in the Japanese series I've watched. I didn't fully watch the ending, and I don't believe it's possible to be in a romantic relationship that remains platonic or in a relationship where one partner forces themselves to have sex just to please the other. It's impossible. A person without sexual drive cannot maintain a relationship with a woman who has natural desires and needs.

The attempt to present them as a normal couple at the end, thinking that if we just educate him to be different, it will work, doesn't work and won't work. It seemed like they were trying to force a contrived ending where a partner with needs can accept a partner without needs.

It could be that this approach didn't work for additional reasons, such as a lack of depth in exploring the emotions of a person without desires or his lack of understanding of himself altogether, as if it is a normal thing when it is clear that it isn't. There is something beyond that here.

Coffee & Vanilla Type

Story
When there is no plot, the series needs to have significant advantages. In this case, there is nothing that can make up for the lack of a plot.

Acting
Since the 2019 Coffee & Vanilla wave, the casting quality has dropped to almost zero. The lead actress is stunning and looks like a doll, but her facial expressions are identical throughout all the scenes. The funniest part was in one episode when the man describes how he loved the faces she made, and then when they show her expressions, you see they are all the same—just wide eyes and raised eyebrows. It's really frustrating when they cast such a beautiful actress.
We also have an actor whose only facial expression is pursing his lips forward, even in an entire episode dedicated to him. If he were more masculine without such feminine lips, it would be less distracting. However, it never could have worked with him from the start because he has no acting skills and looks too feminine to convincingly portray forced masculinity.

Music
My guess is that it had a very low budget, which is why there wasn't much music. A nice piano melody played throughout the series, but it didn't have any real musical value.

Rewatch Value
Japanese series are usually accompanied by emotional depth or intelligent logic, and above all, there is always a message behind everything, even if it seems forced and feels too "educational." In this case, the characters are very flat, without development, emotion, intelligence, or facial expressions—they are paper characters. It makes sense for someone to feel too old due to lack of experience, and it even makes sense for her to become attached to the person she is experiencing things with, but the question is how to convey something when there is no dialogue, or at least how to emotionally engage the viewer without dialogue, monologue, or even facial expressions. Apparently, this is an impossible task. The only goal of this series is to show her in a bra. Honestly, it could have worked better if there was some added value like humor or extreme silliness that could justify the stupidity in the lack of plot.

Love is love ?

South Korea began transitioning to a democratic regime only in the 1980s, and my hypothesis is that the process itself took many years and likely still continues. In the 2000s, they really started to flourish and seemingly express a kind of Western defiance, which, in my opinion, infiltrated at least the film industry in a recognizable way. This movie, in my view, displays those markers, as if you're traveling back in time to the Hollywood of the 1980s in the United States.

The desire to convey a defiant idea that "love is love," unrelated to age or sexual identity, was successfully emotional and managed to deliver the message in its unsophisticated way. It was also very direct, typical of those years when there was a certain innocence and naivety, and everything was spoon-fed.
That is, the character whose soul was transmigrated spoke the same sentences and heard the same music at a level of 100 percent, not just hints here and there. Moreover, there was a lot of caution not to show any intimacy between the two characters(Second round), due to the period it was filmed.

In my opinion, it still holds up even though 23 years have passed, but on the other hand, it's very easy to judge this movie now because we are in a different era where things could have been a bit more blunt.
That is, if they had shown us a romantic scene between the two characters in the second reincarnation, it could have been bold for an even earlier time while still maintaining the same flame to this day.

Many of the things said by the male protagonist's classmates could not pass today's censorship filter, what is known as political correctness. After all, it's permissible to say these things only in class, but heaven forbid depicting them in a fantasy movie scene. Blunt remarks that men would make about women, which are still made today albeit censored, manage to induce a sort of internal cringe because this censorship has become part of our consciousness.
The same goes for other aspects in the movie, such as age differences. In the 2000s, this wasn't relevant and wasn't censored in South Korea. From the modern viewer's perspective, people who watch this and criticize the movie may not be aware that the era was different, and such things were accepted as part of the culture.

Mixed feelings.

There mixed feeling from my side but also from the all plot.

Yhe movie itself produced very well, you can drown into the scene, feel every moment, i really liked it a lot, the way they film it , the tenssion, the waiting . everything was perfect like a really good japanese classic film should be.
But.. i have mixed feelings and after i read the other reviews i understand more why.

The actors are not have perfect chemistry, they are good actors, especially the old one, but i feel the young actor is not enough into the character, and maybe it's not his fault, the plot itself is lacking,it's half story, not so mature story, and you figure out that it's based on manga probably for teens, it can't be deep enough to fill a full movie plot, the is a conflict- in one hand the production is in really high quality, artistic, and other hand- the plot is lacking, there are holls...it could not carry the weight of the production.

the moments of the couple are very good, they are passionet, you don't need the kiss to feel the passion, but still again- conflicts.

the title of the drama should be :"want to throw up?" instead of want a taste...it's wrong title

the drama began as a pure comedy, it was funny as i watched in the past a lot of kdrama i was expecting to some high quality in rom com, but i was so mistaken OMFG it was such a waist of my time and i want to throw up everytime i even thought it was funny...

it's strated when a wife pay for all her husbend and family expenses and slave for them all, until her husben chits on her and didn't even feel sorry about it,
i don't even have the power to write how much nonsence there are in this

but in general:
you have cheaters, you have evil man and a woman greedy, you have slaves, but on top of all that you have a lot of violence that they blind you and use it to promote the drama,
the violence agains kid and a wife
it's so much extreme that you understand the the write+ producers+ tv owners are really evil
and they programming you mind to think it's ok,
it's not ok, people should not watch it, and should even complain about it.

Women that have no goals in life or success getting into a full house with new friends(with benefits)
she has no confident in herself, and she learn couple of things on the way.

some of the episode you feel the sparks of deep thoughts like loneliness or weirdness, not fit in to society, its common in Jdrama but yet it's little fluffy as they shown desires and also they progress and more open in the bed scenes

the deep questions rising at the end and i will write about it in the end

The music is cheesy not interesting.

1-9 episode talking about sexual relationship and how does it develop to emotional connection, from the female side at least, you watch her stay the same but going trough this, and it's very cute you can relate to her feeling,
the only problem is the last episode when you don't see any emotions or understanding the main man lead, he has a problem but it's not cover nothing he don't have any emotions,

When the women confess at the end again she get answer: why do you like me i don't understand...it's more desire.
and i think it's sum up the problem in the end: we don't know why she like him except the desire for him, he doesn't give her nothing or care about her at all,

i think if she would have end with the other man that more showing emotion or something it would have close better

The first moment i watch this drama this week and fell in love, the title present it as a series in youtube, but i get the vibe it's a film, after i search i found it's indeed a film from 2015

How do you recognise high quality film?

1. The cinematographic is on high level, this is like they make SK movies, the color, editing, position of the camera, also the scenes like the first one in the karaoke when they drink the bear, it's a starnge but funny angle, they use this combination of editing and filming mostly in the old SK films,

2. Another scene in episode 1, when Yoo Yang sitting in her room, you can see she is in the middle and after it she is on the side of the frame, usually they film from far and use this kind of symmetric frames, also the background is accurate , all the books and the mess in the room is not even a mess , it's well orginised so it's a "beautiful mess".

3. No make up, no fashion, no hair style (of the main actress)

Story
the story is about a woman called Yoo Yang , she is brave and optimistic, she doesn't care about what other think and she is also a Justice warrior, even if it's cost her losing her job she continue to be happy and believe it's all for good, i realy like her attitude, and mind set.

She doesn't wear makeup, her style more like a man, she is a tomboy , but her voice and pronouncing is like news anchor, very good voice she have,

The romance is like a Dessert, it's not what make her or moves her to act in a certain way, it's particularly amazing because in SK the romance always in the main story and plot and men usually are the leaders , here it's very different- she is the leader in the relationship, she don't want to get marry and she is accepting herself as the way she is,
i think that acharachter like her could have been a better choice for dramas like "ID Gangnam Beauty " that trying to deliver idea of beauty and women power

is like a short stories combine together, but still have line through it so there's a development or connection

Cast
Ahn Young Mi doing amazing job here, no one can replace her in this role
although i'm not a fan of Noh Min Woo he is also doing a great job to deliver a quirky guy

Rewatch Value
Maybe i watch the first episode again

Overall
I didn't want it to end!!! it's really good drama

This is a short film you must watch if you like Bl Drama

Story
it's very realistic, not something special but touching, because you can indefy yourself with the lead character and could understand him and observe his deep emotions without even talking too much
everything is focuse on the 2 boys understand their feeling against the enviroment (their classmates) questening their place in the socity nd what the other will think of them, it's not like you watch fluffy tv drama with sweet moments, it's like you observe the deep emotions of this boy
this what's make great films the way they are, sometimes the actor do not need to be that great but if the producer is great the film will be really good

Cast
the cast is just wonderful, there not better then this , they could not choose other actor for this role, , i connected with them and they make you feel
more reason to like them that the actor is little dark skin then the usual in Thai dramas( at lease in TV dramas) it's make you feel they also have choosen not because of color and just because skills
Also the background it filmed in places that look real, not flashy

Music
To tell the thruth it surprise me a little, because the only song i hear is english and i don't know if i like it , i prefer thai if you make a thai film...
there's not so much music (it's the best to my opinion in those films because it's have a great influence on the quality)
So it was a good choice overall

Rewatch
if you looking for fluffy drama it's not what you get, what you get is like a food for the soul and it's precious

Story
the story is very simple, love triengle
A girl try to choose from 2 guys and she is checking her feelings ( unfortunatly out loud - most of the time we need to hear her thoughts
Because i can't put any details of it i can say you can skip to the end first before you watch so you don't have high expectation like i see others have

Music
The music is the worst, not invest at all, they realy like to play the synth , you ask yourself did they on a tight budget? so much tught like a kid playing in the computer with all the sound effect they like so much

Cast:
The only actor there is Che , he didn't get the credit he deserve
i don't think the others are bad but the problem is not with them
Uselly in Taiwan or china the actress acting like a retarded not reflect her age at all, its like they want teach women to act dumb so they can be "good" "pure" and "get the man" if you speak normal and acting like a real woman you get the "bad" role, like that is episode 3.
other people will think it her lack of acting but it's not. they want the lead actress to look average with her hair and speak look like 4 years old , it's not her fault!
But it make you want to stop watching if you are smart enough and know couple of things on women and life

Sum up:
Watch the Japanese version it's better( i'm still watching it)

Iv'e notice this drama in 2013 after i have seen the Korean remake (called "The Suspicious Housekeeper" that i liked also )
The difference between them that i understand now after reading some reviews is that the Korean virsion is more Digestible and the western viewers can relate to while if you into Japanese dramas and Japanese culture you can relate to this maybe more then the K virsion.
What i feel about the Japanese tv is "Still waters run deep" , it's slow and revealing piece by piece with some kind of deep emotions that hard to understand , and maybe the view on the woman is different
The korean version is more memorable as times go by now after a couple of years i can see the empact on me.

worth a watching
