Absolutely loved it!

Although I was disappointed with two things. Will get to that at the end of this review.
A drama about the Kpop industry- the companies that “own” them, and the struggles they go through to become stars/ idols. First 3 episodes were boring, but it did pick up after that. The storyline was I guess what many trainees and idols have to endure these days- controlling companies and managers, being overworked, fanatic and obsessive fans, peer pressure and competitiveness between teammates, dating issues etc.. it’s kinda sad really that these celebrities don’t have or are not allowed to have their own personal life or freedom.

I did enjoy the dance performances by Shax and Sparkling- I thought Lee Jun Young who played the ML Kwon Ryoc was an excellent dancer, a class above the rest. His voice also was really good. I particularly enjoyed his jealousy moments :P which I found hilarious. Unfortunately I found the FL to be somewhat a disappointment. She was cute and all but I found her character lacked depth and gust. The outstanding female character would be La Ri-Ma, who we all hate in the first few episodes, but she redeems herself as the show moves along, looking out for her juniors and standing up for herself.

Now come the two disappointing factors:
1) The romance. I liked the initial tug and pull between the leads. Especially coming from Kwon Ryoc, I could feel the intensity and chemistry, the times when he said he missed her and wanted to see her. However after they started dating, it lacked PDA, and their two kissing scenes were, sorry to say, quite pathetic lol. Imagine sitting on a bench with your bf/gf, gazing at the stars and you are seated like 3 feet away from each other! I mean what the??!! The other couples also lacked any real connection and chemistry.

2) What happened to CEO Park? Was he still able to remain at his post after the email was released etc? And after Shax left NOG? I’m also not sure which company Shax ended up signing with- was it JH Entertainment? It was kinda rushed and unclear.

If you’re a Kpop fan, I reckon you might enjoy this. Not a real romance drama, more about growing up and discovering yourself. There are some life lessons to take from this, and an eye-opener for those who are clueless about the industry. Enjoy :)

Definitely different and interesting. :)

I was very intrigued with the storyline. Definitely not the typical Chinese drama storylines- overbearing CEO/ rich man poor girl/ accidental fall on you & kisses etc.. I’m also glad their voices were not dubbed. Production wise, it was well done.

For the first half I would have given it a 9 or 9.5? But towards the last 6 episodes, it sort of waned and kept repeating its vicious cycle. Was a little annoyed by then and Xu Guanghan aka the bad guy was just getting on my nerves. I was disappointed in the last episode- the way he was arrested and how the truth was revealed. It was too fast, didn’t have any impact on the audience whatsoever, and I felt it wasn’t revealed enough just how sinister the bad guy was.

Hmmm I felt some characters were overly done- Xu Guanghan was one, grandma Fushun another, and Jiang Kele ( she overacted way too much- I just didn’t like it).

The best characters I liked were Xu Nian and Gu Qianya. They were also the best couple. Both were matured, intelligent and looked very good together :) I also loved their outfits and style. I have to admit- I’m biased towards Zhang Linghe- he’s so good looking esp dressed in turtle necks and long overcoats; and I loved him in Maiden Holmes as well. (Must watch!)

Lu xiao (acted by He Luo Luo) was ok... he was just a pretty face ;) but he could dance quite well (just some small parts). He’s from a Chinese boy group called R1SE. He and Jiang Kele were the main couple- but I didn’t really enjoy their story or chemistry. It was rather plain and boring.

All in all, I would recommend this to watch, as it’s quite different and you will enjoy all the handsome actors :)

Good until Ep24 :(

Spoiler review here:

Started off really really well! We had a somewhat psychotic/ playing dumb ML, a desperate for revenge badass FL and an extremely interesting plot setting! The ML was then revealed to be mistakenly wronged- framed for crimes he did not commit. This I felt was revealed wayyy to early (ep 3 or 4). Could have played with this idea until prob ep8.

Lots of fighting scenes to keep you in suspense. The basic plot is nothing new, but conspiracies and maliciousness of the characters are enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. Somewhere in the middle, they get lost in and live in a small village for awhile. Here I felt the inconsistency of the ML character- he suddenly became such a puppy lol and to me didn’t suit his character.

Once the Crown Prince was found to be the ultimate mastermind behind everything, the drama started going downhill. Firstly, his punishment was WAYYY TOO EASY!! Should have at least dedicated one whole episode to torture him and make him pay heavily and publicly for his crimes. Then the whole story shifts to Xiyan, which I found so stupid with the witch doctor shaking her shoulders and hands to summon the gods lol. I understand the writers had to rebuild the town of Qingzhou, so that Murong Jinghe can atone for his guilt, but the Xiyan story was just unnecessary.

The whole romance storyline with The King of Great Yan and Concubine Yan was eeelch!! Disgusting- like grandfather 60s and young girl early 20s which I suppose was the norm in those days. But still… I just had to ff those scenes.

The ending - [SPOILER] is a sad one boooo. Sigh.. probably rightfully so. But I was glad they were there for each other till the end. The chemistry between leads was great, two very intense kiss scenes ;) The character I felt the most tragic was Qingyan- jinghe’s trustee bodyguard!! True and loyal till the end, saved his life numerous times.

They did try to add some humour and light heartedness to the whole drama, but didn’t find it that humorous. Should have just stuck to romance and thriller suspense. Anyhow, a good watch with an unfortunate last third not up to expectations.

Awww a MUST watch :):)

Only 8 episodes so you KNOW it won’t be draggy ;)

Absolutely very sweet and giving the tingles! High school friends, who are more connected than it seems in first episode; 10 years apart and are reconnected by COINCIDENCE! :) the main couple did a great job, both very lovable characters and strong in their own way. I’m glad Hon Ju didn’t take nonsense when the mother tried to break them up ;) she stood her ground! The ex-bf tried to manipulate his way back into her life, but what she said to him was very wise and she also stood her ground there. Good writing!

The supporting cast, friends, Uncle Wook all very lovable and funny as well. The final episode was a tad disappointing, with the mother suing her own son?? So ridiculous! But Definitely a good watch :)

P/s the only thing I didn’t quite like were the PE teacher’s red leggings and shorts matched with bright yellow hugging shirt! ;);) LOL. ENJOY this one!!

Could have been better ?

The opening was great- very promising storyline, actors were good.. then in the middle it got rather melodramatic, going in circles.. then the last two episodes were just boring. Mediocre ending. Yep, that’s it.

The FL seemed like a pretty good actress at the start, and her character was strong and assertive. But the chemistry between her and Ji Han was somewhat lacking .. and their kiss was a little cringe to watch hahaha. Her character development was just dull and mundane towards the end. I found her family annoying too.

The ML is quite cute, I predict he will have more lead roles and do well in the future ;)

Revenge in slow mo? ;)

I had zero expectations starting this drama. I thought it was a romance between an older woman and cha eun woo ;););) boy was I so wrong!! lol

So it’s basically a revenge drama- a young boy dies and the mother kills the person who did it. But there is so much more layers underneath this onion of a story… I do like all the twists and plots; I do like the storyline and how it unfolded; I do NOT like how the bad guy always seems to win until the very last 20mins of the final episode, then the writers rush through his downfall; I do NOT like all the slow motion scenes, walking here and there, crying, crying and more crying, repeat this and that scene… could have done with a lot lot less of those.

Cha eun woo as a villain!! Well … initially a villain then a great guy. He did well for this drama 👏🏼👏🏼 give him a chance- ep11 showed his true acting skills! Some reviewers are saying the FL is too stiff and robotic- that’s prob because of all the Botox 😅 I liked the husband though- he looks good 😍

All in all pretty well worth the watch. I did forward quite a lot when they talked too slow.. haha.

Side characters were funny

I don’t usually take to k-Humour… but I found this drama quite funny;) Kudos especially to the side characters- the office colleagues, the two assistants and the Wild Dogs gang! Amidst the dark, mystery thriller plot, their light -heartedness and slapstick comedy made it quite enjoyable.

Of course the visuals of both Song Kang and Kim You Jung speaks for itself, and their chemistry was quite believable. Stylist did a good job with his and hers outfits and hair.

Some of the underlining storyline and character roles were a little confusing, and it can be a little scary with some scenes. All in all it was a good watch.

Strong start, weak finish

It was captivating from the start.. from the Joseon era FL was suddenly transported to the modern world. Sort of like a parallel universe, she met her dead husband and other characters in this modern world , started living and trying to survive here.

Bae In Hyuk who played the ML was a little stiff, and not so convincing with his role. Their relationship and chemistry seemed more of good friends than of lovers. Even the bed scene looked very uncomfortable ;)

As the story goes on, there are twists in the plot but unfortunately it was quite predictable. Of course it’s a happy ending, but the humour and storyline could not really hold it strong till the end.

Here mainly for Jun;)

Haha… as my title says, watching this mainly for Jun from Seventeen;) worth the watch!
FL’s character was not your typical girl-girl type, quite tomboyish and no regards to boundaries when it comes to ML, who is her childhood friend. There’s one scene in the uni hall and she’s sitting half slumped in the chair with one leg hanging over his thigh! Uhmm.. not very eye catching imo.

Not much originality in terms of storyline- childhood friends, through high school, get together in uni, start working life and a few struggles here and there. No angst, no rivals, no breakups. An easy watch

Not at 10/10 but I cried!!

YES it’s very very sweet, light hearted and warm to watch this drama. Any love rivals, issues were all resolved within one episode lol. The lead couple had such perfect understanding and communication, and supported each other all the way!

So that’s the problem- it’s too perfect, and thus made this drama quite unrealistic. Haha.. not that I’m looking for break ups and miscommunication, but this was just too good to be true. One reviewer said their hairstyles didn’t change in what… 8 years?? Hahaha… so yeah- the producers should have been more alert on these sort of details.

Episodes 1-19 were mostly on their high school years, ages 16 -19. The main leads get together in episode 19 (if I remember correctly) and the last few episodes were in university, working life, and the final episode on their wedding and getting pregnant! It would have been nice to see a bit more on their uni days. I didn’t expect much on their work or married life as the actors are still quite young.

I especially loved the character development of the ML. From having very low self esteem and constantly being compared to his younger ‘smarter’ brother, he was very introverted, quiet, shy and just kept mostly to himself. But after knowing the FL, he opened up, started to smile more and was able to become a more wholesome adult.

The FL herself is a very very special character. She’s the opposite of him- chatty, assertive, confident and was taking the lead in most parts of their friendship and relationship. I loved the way she called him Rang Rang ;);)

2nd couple and secondary storylines were not too bad. Although again I find it hard to belief that the 2nd couple waited 5 years before acknowledging their feelings for one another and getting together. No relationships in between?

Anyhow, in the final episode there was the proposal scene, and it was SO TOUCHING!! I cried and cried!! No fancy dinners or flowers, but a very meaningful video montage. That’s how the ML is: not rich not flashy, but focused and certain all the way!!

Enjoy this one :) :)

Not that great- even the chemistry was flat

Probably because the writers tried using all the same tropes and tricks from Mysterious Love- the accidental falls, the pull her closer, the toss the blanket in the air?? Haha…

Firstly let’s address the elephant in the room. Is this drama a Season 2 of Mysterious Love? The answer is No. well, it does not seem that way to me. It’s a completely different storyline, although the 3 main leads are the same. That I felt was an issue. If the writers wrote different characters for the same actors it could have been more interesting. But this was the same actors, same sort of characters (bodyguard, damsel in distress) so it was a repeat of sorts with a different flavour. The last 5mins of the final episode seemed like a continuation of Mysterious Love, but I honestly don’t understand why that was included.

The romance and chemistry would have been good if you haven’t watched Mysterious Love. If you have, then it’s all just too familiar and similar. There was a very steamy bed scene, but that was nothing compared to the bathroom/ bed scene in ML lol. See this is the problem- too much comparison. Sorry…

The mystery/ thriller storyline was mediocre. Slightly confusing initially but all is revealed only in Ep15. By that time the audience can sort of guess the gist of it. Had a very dramatic monologue by the villain in that episode, which I ff hahaha. He seems like quite a nut job. ;) 2nd couple was alright, nothing much to shout about either.

Short drama- 16 episodes. Not too bad overall but don’t expect too much:)

Revenge plus some romance

Revenge is the main plot for this storyline. It’s done in a sophisticated and well crafted manner. Nothing too complicated or elaborate, but a simple storyline.

It’s only 25 episodes, and each Ep about 13 mins only ;) so it’s short and sweet. What I liked was the costumes and setting. Based in Shanghai in the 1920s, they ladies are wearing beautiful cheongsams and I love their hair dos!! What I disliked was the voices being dubbed. It’s so obvious the kids voices are being dubbed by an adult male trying to sound like a kid :(

The first episode has a steamy kiss scene;) then it throws back to one month ago. However, there are no more in the following episodes ;);) All in all it wasn’t too bad. The FL is beautiful and the ML looks quite dashing.

Korean Grey’s Anatomy :)

Yep this is the Korean version of Greys’ Anatomy :) but minus the kinky scenes, the sleeping around and the lift scenes ;) The medical scenarios were quite gripping, and some far fetched, but the drama centred on the character development of Seo woo Jin and Cha Eun Jae.

There wasn’t much romance- just some hints here and there. So don’t start this expecting a love story. There is a simple kiss scene on the last episode (and a few pecks in earlier episodes) and that’s why they’re known as the Reset couple ;)

The character developments for both leads were interesting, although somewhat predictable, especially the medication for the nausea. What I found a tad boring was the typical chairman and board of directors wanting to overthrow Doctor Kim and Doldam Hospital. It’s the same ol’ story from S1 as well. I sincerely hope S3 will move away from that storyline.

Definitely a good watch and a definitely recommendation :)

Underrated GEM! Watch it NOW!!

Not sure why there hasn’t been much buzz about this drama online, maybe because the actors are not that famous. I myself have never seen the 4 main casts in any other kdrama. But you HAVE TO WATCH this.. it’s SO SO GOOD!! Almost as good as Business Proposal! :):)

Why? Firstly, it’s hugely entertaining! Your FL is not any ordinary femme fatale, or damsel, or chaebol etc.. she’s a fighter!! And a feminist. She fights the men who treat their women unjustly- yes literally beat them up! Lol… and she’s a lawyer by profession. As the story goes, she meets our ML who is a very famous actor, and of course there is a prejudice and misunderstanding between them. She somehow gets involved with his life.. from enemies to fake lovers, to real lovers ;)

Secondly, it’s hilarious!! Yes the kind of humour that I can get with. It’s smart and witty and really enjoyable to watch. Unlike some Kdramas where the humour is too slapstick and too put on it gets annoying. This one is done just right.

Thirdly- the chemistry!!! It’s only 10 episodes, so everything develops super fast!! We have a kiss at the end of Ep 4!! Both characters who previously hate each other start fake dating but as we all know, he’s already fallen hard for her ;););) Their romance evolved ever so smoothly and naturally, the way they joked around, teased each other etc..

Ending is a happy one. Felt a little rushed and I had hoped our ML could counter the cancel culture head on, but it wasn’t so. Nevertheless it was wrapped up pretty nicely. The second couple didn’t have thaaat much chemistry, but they were still likeable.

Don’t wait any longer! A very good and enjoyable watch!!

Better other dramas out there

Don’t waste your time w this one. The storyline is sloppy, the production is bad, the romance is weird. Nothing wrong with the older woman younger man theme, just the way their relationship developed, lack of communication, no clear definition of when they got together and how they progressed etc..

Many plots in the storyline were weird and ridiculous. Many things didn’t make sense. I mainly watched this for Zhou Yiran who plays the ML Lin Ran. I’ve liked him since Falling into your smile :) Hopefully he gets better roles next time.

I basically watched the entire drama at 1.5x speed :) and skipped episodes 11-18! Didn’t miss much because I could understand the break up they had in ep19.
If you like the older woman theme- the better ones are like My Fated Boy. That one also is like a younger brother that grew up together.
