which fandom I identify myself with (where I belong or belonged)

2012 - 2015 : 賀軍翔 Mike - He Jun Xiang's follower
the first drama watched: Love Keeps Going in 2012

2015 - 2016: 周渝民 Vic - Zhou Yu Min's follower
the first drama watched: Black & White in 2015

Aug 23, 2017 - Jan 10, 2025 : 侯明昊 Neo - Hou Ming Hao's taomei 桃妹 (peach sister)
the first drama watched: Cambrian Period in 2017

If there should be any statement, mine is very simple:
I am not able to give Hou Ming Hao what he expects from me (as a fan).
And Hou Ming Hao is not able to give me what I need (as an audience).
The process of saying goodbye is a painful and long way, but eventually one day we need to face reality, and let it go.

since Feb 3, 2025: 魏哲鸣 Miles - Wei Zhe Ming's weixing 魏星 (satellite)
- homophone with weixing 卫星  which means "satellite" in Chinese
the first drama watched: Find Yourself in 2023

I noticed Wei Zhe Ming in "Find Yourself" first where he won my heart with his subtle playing. I was swept away by awe for his outstanding performance in "Perfect and Casual". Got positively surprised with his next main role in "Unforgettable Love" (in spite of similar elements the story shared with the previous one, he managed to create a fresh, new person on screen so it was entertaining to watch). And after four dramas watched ("19th Floor") my jaw still dropped when watching his acting in "My Marvellous Fable" !! WOW !! so marvellously superb  💞💞💞
(what I like) about Wei Zhe Ming:

~  worked very hard and long for his success (from ordinary white-collar staff to a professional actor, on his rise to stardom taking on support roles along with leading ones, filming several dramas a year)
~  loves the female audience, is not ashamed of playing WITH women and FOR women and not afraid of scenes depicting intimacy or sexual tension
~  has great on-screen chemistry with every actress he's paired with
~ proved himself with real acting* taking on numerous undubbed roles in modern dramas and making each character (seemingly similar) clearly differentiated
~ the Chinese bromance genre (the Chinese substitute for the BL theme in dramas) is definitely not his thing
~ radiating with a smile and warm energy wherever appears, humble and straightforward, it's a pleasure to watch him on variety shows (I just l♥ve his smile, so HEALTHY)
~ very gentle, sensitive personality, also very attentive and considerate to people around him
~ enthusiastic towards fans (has great ability to connect with fans)
~ an excellent singer and dancer, his voice reaches and soothes my senses, and his body and movements ooze with sex appeal

* real acting as opposed to theatrical acting (explained below)

My thoughts on acting found their perfect confirmation in the interview with Xiao Zhan where he spoke about acting in modern dramas versus historical dramas:
"It reminded me once again of the difference between historical and modern dramas. Modern dramas need you to be natural, the more natural the better. But this naturalness can come across as pointless to people. If you don't do it well, it can seem flat. Just flat"

Theatrical acting shouldn't be confused with theatre acting or stage acting which is performing by the actor live on stage in the theatre.
Theatrical acting is performing theatrically by actors in film productions like the Chinese costume fantasy dramas
.

And nope, those are not historical dramas. They are neither historical (depicting historical facts, events, people and their real stories) nor historical fiction (combining the fictional plot with true historical events and characters). Xianxia/wuxia mainly tell adventures of demons, dragons, wizards, spirits, "martial heroes", "ancient detectives", princes and princesses, that none of which ever existed. They are costume fantasy shows with fictional stories set in an imaginary ancient world.
The inaccurate term is popularized by the communities like MDL where one can meet many fan(atic)s of the genre. They watch "historical dramas". Sounds far better than watching "idol dramas", doesn't it?

As opposed to theatrical acting (full of theatrical moves, poses and gestures, excessively elaborate and exaggerated hands gesticulation, robotic-like head movements, fake facial expressions magnified with odd eyes actions bordering on comicality) real acting is being real and authentic, as natural and spontaneous as the actor can be in portraying the character with the righ level of expression. Too little of expression will come off on camera as bland ("flat" like Xiao Zhan said), the opposite extreme will be overacting.

Real acting doesn't require heavy appearance change and disguise: a new shape of eyebrows for every next role, a set of ten various wigs and head ornaments for one character played, and a whole dressing room full of fabulous costumes.

Real acting needs basic make-up, a proper hair styling, a set of casual outfits matching the role, and the actor's tremendous effort to make the character alive, convincing and unique. There is no advantage like that of costume fantasy shows to stimulate the audience's imagination with the visual tricks so real acting relies on the actor's own skills and own looks to create a character that will be perceived as "different" from his/her previous works or "dynamic" when portraying next stages of the character's psychological transformation.

Of course, it is always up to the audience what form of art they are ready to accept and enjoy.
