Started out great but went downhill

I’m not the type to write reviews here but I just had to .
It’s been about 5 days since I completed it but I feel I won’t be able to rest properly if I don’t write this review.

This is honestly one of the worst dramas I’ve ever seen . The drama had so much potential but the writer ruined it .

The ml Dino was so dumb and easily manipulated.
I also found him a bit manipulative with the fl
The fl was too trusting and naive .
There’s a thin line between being naive and stupid, and she leaned more towards stupidity.

The drama was a hot mess . From the hypocrite of a grandfather and mother , to the annoying second leads.

Honestly, none of the characters were lovable.
I initially started it for Luke but I guess even his looks weren’t enough to save this .

I genuinely wouldn’t recommend this drama to anyone except you enjoy experiencing anger and frustration

Mediocre

I’ll rate it 4/10 . I don’t really think they’re main lead material though . I feel like I just watched a side character’s love story .

There were a lot of fan service scenes though. I didn’t really get into it because I just wasn’t feeling it . There was this spark that was missing . The spark that Max and tul has or off and gun or boun and prem. I don’t know if you get

Funny enough I enjoyed the comfort scenes more . I liked how fiat was so small and Leo could literally just cover him and you could see how safe fiat looked and felt with Leo . That’s my type of God when ??‍♀️

I can’t really say I was disappointed or excited because I wasn’t really expecting anything. There really isn’t much writers can do with a side couple that got their own story.

The new side couple was okay . I don’t have any drawn attachment to them or neither would I want to see them together again.

The conversations of the side characters were mostly meaningless and could be skipped.

You can watch the drama if you have nothing else to watch . There are a few good scenes in it.

I don’t have anything against the drama. More like I’m indifferent. Leo could improve more on his acting though . That’s all .

Unrelated but I miss Saint and Perth

I don’t even know what to say

This drama is like a middle school play .
It was like the criteria for the drama was terrible acting . The script didn’t help the actors either . Most of the time it felt like they were reading a nursery speech .

But if you drop your iq and not take the drama seriously you’d find it funny and actually laugh . Just assume that your friends came together to make a movie just for fun ??

Most of the time I found it hard to believe those were actual scenes . It was like a compilation of bloopers.

The singing caught me off guard and was uncalled for . It only made the drama seem more of a joke than it already was.

Bonus : there’s no proper kiss scene ❤️&?

Everything and more

This drama right here is a masterpiece. It’s one of those very good dramas that come once in 6-7 years . It may sound like I’m exaggerating but honestly I felt a lot of emotions while watching this .

It wasn’t perfect though as there were some loopholes here and there but not enough to deny or distract us from how much of a good drama it is .

I’ll totally recommend this drama to anyone and I’ll add it to my 2016 list of best dramas released . All the actors did a great job .

It’s a solid 9/10 for me .
For the best watching experience I’ll suggest you watch it on 1.5x speed but watch it on normal speed when the main leads hyo seop and yeo been are together in a scene ❤️
Their chemistry is everything and more ❤️

Great potential but was poorly paced and didn’t live up to expectations

Review on Celebrity

Celebrity is a Netflix series that was released about 2 weeks ago and has caused a major buzz on social media platforms and is currently trending among the top 10 Kdramas of 2023

Celebrity takes a look at the real life of E-celebs commonly known as influencers which hold as much power as public figures in today’s world.

Now that we’re done with the formalities, shall we ?

This drama and the hype is uncalled for and once again I’m suspecting nonkdrama fans for this .

There was a scene where a maid took off the ml’s shoes while he was walking and in my opinion was what caused the entire social media buzz .

The scene looked very dramatic in edits but in the actual series, it was bland

The drama honestly could’ve been a movie and would’ve been more impactful .
They were just turning around in circles like clowns and the fl/narrator kept repeating herself .

Too much of everything is bad. They tried to create so much suspense but at the end of the day, they failed to hit climax .

The series lacked proper pacing . They dragged the bickering between the gabin society and the fl for too long.
Despite having 12 episodes, they still found a way to rush the ending which didn’t make any sense to me . They had so much time but ended up leaving too many loopholes and unanswered questions.

The love between the ml and fl was just silly with no back bone but their kiss scene was nice .

Additionally, the fl has a false sense of righteousness which I think stems from her pride .
She’s not a good person.

Is this series overrated? Yes
Will I recommend it to others ? Perhaps
Is it a series that I will remember in future ? Very unlikely

Not everyone’s cup of tea

I feel like Suzy always takes on important and emotional roles which I love . Someone called her acting stiff but I disagree .
In this series, the roles were reversed . Usually, Suzy’s character or personality would be played by the ml . The ml was very in touch with his emotions which was good to see as well .

The drama did feel like it lacked depth . They focused too much on the sl having feelings for the ml and vice versa . If it was a 16 episodes drama, it would’ve been fine but it wasn’t fine for a 9 episode drama . I expected them to focus more on how bad her life was as a celebrity and why she was so lonely . They just showed pieces and expected us to put the puzzle together.

If you already know about the entertainment industry, it would be easy to understand and get into the flow but if you have zero knowledge about the inside or behind the scenes of the industry, you may not truly connect to the series as much .

Overall the pacing of the drama was nice though and I enjoyed it . It’s best to binge watch it on 1.5x speed .
The chemistry was great too .
I’ll rate it 7/10
Extra point because Suzy looked very stunning . So , 8/10

P.S the ending was uncalled for and made me wonder if the writers are unloved at home

Overrated and a bit disappointing

If you’re looking for romance, this isn’t the drama for you .

Personally I found the drama boring and I didn’t think the leads had chemistry.

The writers spent so much time on other characters while neglecting the leads romantic feelings. The writer then chose to use jealousy to make them realize their feelings.

Then suddenly they get into a relationship towards the end of the drama and become overly affectionate? I wasn’t buying it .

I love gong Jun but this is a no for me (the script is off not the acting).

Moving to the psychology aspect, the cases were handled poorly . The beginning of most episodes were somehow . I get they wanted to be mysterious but it was just off

I have so many things to highlight about my disappointment but I’ll just stop here .

I wouldn’t recommend it but you could still watch it if you want

It started out great but went downhill

The first half of this drama was great ! It was funny and interesting. There were no dull moments . The outfits and jewelry worn by rain were really nice.

But after the first half the story began to drag . They argued way too much for adults . They literally told everyone but themselves how they felt about each other .
From episode 10, I waited and waited for a confession because I thought I was close to getting one from them but there was nothing until towards the end of the final episode .

If I knew that that was what I was signing up for, I wouldn’t have watched it at all . There were so many unnecessary conversations.
If the writers knew that they had nothing else to write, they should’ve wrapped up the entire series in 12 episodes.

I hope this review helps anyone that is interested in watching it . ?

Not all that

Overall I’d rate this drama 6.5/10 .
If you’re not really a big fan of political dramas, you’d rate it even lower but I’m trying to be fair .
I appreciate the work everyone put into making this drama . From the cast to the crew . Well done ??

Personally I don’t think the drama deserves to win best drama or the actor should win best actor . There truly wasn’t any scene that he was in that I genuinely felt touched .

Funny enough I felt more affection towards the crown prince than anybody else in the drama .

This drama is a one time drama . It’s not something that you watch and then you reminisce and you miss the characters . I’m yet to understand why the TikTok community and others swear by this drama . Perhaps if I followed it weekly like them, I might have shared the same feelings and comradeship .

Personally I think Kim soo Hyun should’ve won that best actor role . He showed more diverse emotions in queen of tears than this actor did in my dearest but that might just be my personal preference.

Most of the political stuff was boring and sounded like I was attending a history class .

Surprisingly I didn’t find the fl to be annoying . Her actions were quite rational and thoughtful. It did feel a tiny bit frustrating to see the push and pull in their love life but if you’re a trained historical cdrama member , you’d see that they were just playing ??.
No serious misunderstandings or whatever .

This drama is the type that after a while, you won’t remember what happened. It’d just be one of the many dramas you’ve seen .

Would I recommend this drama to others ? I’m not sure . Except they say they’re looking for historical drama recommendations.

The first 3 episodes were quite boring but the drama truly picked up from episode 4 . The cliff hangers at the end would always want you to download the next episode. You’re better off dropping the drama in the middle of an episode than waiting for it to finish .

I actually binged watched 1-14 before sleeping around 8am to continue by 7pm . It was that engaging . But if you ask me what I can truly remember from all the episodes, it’s quite hazy.

The entire plot is Joseon getting invaded by foreigners, the foreigners taking the crown prince and others as slaves/ captives . The ml falling in love and creating some bitter/sad love triangles.
The delusional and sick king and conniving concubine .

The palace story was nothing new . Usual fight for the throne and fear of rebellion.

Character I hated : that good for nothing self righteous scholar?

Thoughts on the main couple: I take back what I said about the ml being very old . He’s quite mature looking but he honestly just looks his age and he has a nice smile . I’d say he’s quite manly and you’d like him if that’s your spec .

The fl is okay too . She’s pretty .

They have nice chemistry . There were some scenes that I was like to love is nice sha but that’s it .

Completing this drama felt like I completed an assignment that I’ve been postponing for a long time.

As kdrama lovers , do you have to watch this drama?
Honestly speaking ? No
It doesn’t add or remove anything from your life . It doesn’t change your views on anything either . I think it’s okay to let it go and don’t be pressured by others to watch it or feel like you’re missing out on something so amazing because you’re not .
