Not for everyone but it hit me hard

This drama series is certainly not everyone's cup of tea, the story is a bit slow in sense where there's nothing major happening. But there's this beautiful tranquillity in it. It shows you characters who are real, each have his or her own struggles and how we often try to pretend we're doing fine.

The chemistry between the main leads were out of this world, super adorable with their little smiles to one another. Only reason why I rated this 9.5 instead of 10 is because I need more scenes of them together. I couldn't get enough!

Also, if you look up the list of OST in this series you would be gobsmacked. All the queens and kings of OST are in here. Tears of happiness when each of them were release for me.

Please give this series a go if you want something sweet but not overly melodramatic. I don't know what about it but I had to see each episode as it came out rather than what I usually do, which is to wait till the whole series is complete because this girl here cannot handle cliff-hangers.

Took me by surprise

Bai Lu is one of my favourite actresses and seeing that this character is different to most of her past roles, I immediately jumped into it.

The storyline was beautifully executed, characters are well developed and none I find irrelevant as most ancient Chinese dramas do.

I have to say the director did an amazing job because it was shot exquisitely, each frame was like an artwork.

If you are wanting a short drama, not too much of heavy politics and the purest form of love... then please give this drama a chance. The acting from everyone on the show impressed me beyond words. Of course, Bai Lu did a superb job as I had no doubt she would. However, it's all the other actors and actresses that completely elevated this drama to a higher level.

The way Zhou Sheng Chen gaze at Cui Shi Yi, the unspoken love in his eyes, it got me feeling all sort of emotions.

Also, a shout out to the costume design crew. Amazing costumes and hair style.

I hope more people will pay attention to this drama. It deserves a lot of love!

Don't sleep on this show, a must-watch!

First off, the rating I gave for rewatching value is low because the storyline is so intense that once you know what happens next then it's not something you want to see again. The appeal is gone? If you know what I mean. Also, I don't notice much about the OST.

Overall, the plot and acting makes up for everything.

Each episode got me so anxious and like everyone else here I binge watched this in one day. Seriously, could not stop.

Definitely the characters and his or her motives will have you debating on how far is too far between morality and societal expectations.

Give this a go, you won't regret it!

Give this a miss... unless you're completely bored.

It's been a while since I watched something that disappoint me so. The first 5 episodes were promising with of course the amazing cast.

I'm not sure why a lot of people find Jo Bo-Ah subpar, personally I like her and think she has great potential. Kim Bum... well what can I say but that he needs a drama series with him as the main lead. Lee Dong-Wook is the big fish here, I'm positive people watch this show for him.

However, the greatness of the show ends there--the casting.

The storyline didn't have much excitement to it. Not saying I'm expecting it to be unpredictable and blow me away, but it wasn't even humorous or make my heart flutter.

I watched this to the end hoping somehow it would get better but alas it continued on its declining path. Perhaps watch this if you're a hardcore fan of any of the cast. I'm going to end this review here because spending more energy and time on this drama is making me squirm.

Looking at all the reviews for this drama, all that I've wanted to say has been covered by you geniuses. So, I'll just keep this short.

This drama destroyed me.

Why was it so perfectly made? The cinematic shots left me in awe. Who can fault the actors in here? No one. Don't even get me started on the OST... gosh I'm still listening to it.

The storyline and the dialogues were incredibly clever.

Yoo Yeon Seok as Gu Dong Mae, life ruiner. Oh how I love him sooooo much!

The reason I started watching this drama was because of Yoo Ah-In. After seeing him in Six Flying Dragons and The Throne, I knew his talent is extraordinary. When I heard this has a bit more romance in it, instantly, I wanted to see how he portrays himself in another character.

It took me a bit of time since this show was out in 2017 and here I'm watching it in 2020. The reason why I didn't jump to it straight away when it aired was the concept of past and present lives. I got a bit tired of it as several dramas had that concept.

However, Chicago Typewriter blew me away with how well the plots came together. I actually was more invested in the storyline of 1930 than the present. I believe the writer did this splendidly keeping viewers on the line of wanting to know more of what happened.

There was only one minor reason why I didn't give the plot a 10/10, it had to do with the past and present people. I don't want to give any spoilers but personally, I thought it was a bit too "coincidental". The music fitted the timeline and captured each moments, however, it's not the best I've heard. To be fair, I couldn't give it a 10/10 because there are other dramas that no doubt excel in OST.

All the other casts were brilliant. Im Soo-Jung impressed me with her crying scenes, the emotions went straight into my heart. The friendship between the main characters truly lifted my soul.

Let's just say, I bawled my eyes out and wasted many tissues. I didn't expect the last few episodes to be that magnificent but what can I say? Yoo In-Ah is my my weakness, all his gestures and the looks in his eyes. Hoping he'll do more dramas because a movie length is just not enough of him! Give me the 50 episodes, 1 hour long each please!
