The key is subtlety

This story feels very much that of a thriller/suspense story. How? It gives you very subtle hints that gives off messages on otherwise non-sensical things. What does a sniff on a coconut symbolize? Nothing. Not unless you're in the context of I Told Sunset About You. How about the colors of the hibiscus? Well, same answer.

The writers' ability to create subtle things and make them points of exposition is amazing. Truly a work of art.

The color grading is that of a sunset. Yes. It creates a feeling of beauty, peace, and end. The shots are amazing (especially the underwater shots). Each action made and each dialogue said feels like its there on purpose.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the OST. The OST is probably one of the best ones out there. One is focused on fate, one is focused on confusion, and one is focused on confession, all reflecting this series' story.

Do I recommend it? Hell yeah.
Will it make you cry? I did not cry for this one (I rarely do cry on tv shows) but yes. I've heard people crying over this drama.

P.S. Watch the documentary too. You will fall in love with the crew.

Fluffy yet enticing

Most fluffy shows are quite simple. They make you smile and maybe melancholic for a little bit, but My Ambulance takes things a step higher. It actually makes you think of questions.

My Ambulance uses the love triangle trope, but in a way that it's not obvious who's she is going to choose at all. Is she going to choose her long-time partner that she's all up and crazy for while slowly drowning in compromises, or will she choose the new guy that she quite hated, but in context, feels super genuine with him? Does she want a responsible man, or does she want a comfortable man?

I promised to only watch episode 1 just because I loved the OST so much. Well, guess who binged watch all the episodes under 24 hours?

Relies too heavily on plot twists

This show tried so hard to be everything but failed miserably. The first gaping plot hole is that there is absolutely no presence of any government authority in the show. Police? Hello?

Another thing, this show tries so hard on the romance, which turned out to be lackluster and hurried. Also, most of the love stories basically relied on "man saves woman, they fall in love" trope (which is such a sexist trope I can't even).

The show tried to be angst and edgy, but in the end, it turned out to be tacky. This is the type of show that deserves to be just a YA fiction rather than a full-blown series.

The reliance of plot twist without subtlety is crazy! Subtlety is key when creating plot twist. Plant a seed somewhere down the first half of the series in the most subtle way (on which it is barely noticed), and let it bloom during the second half. The screenwriters were probably just like...

"The second act is dragging, what should we do?"
"Let's just wing it. Pants in through. Add everything we can possibly think of!"

Also, the show gives off a premise to be a super fast-paced show, but it focuses too much on the boring parts. Some characters (especially the side characters) don't have proper motivations at all. The Gifted gave most of their characters good motivations (notice I'm using most since Ohm and the twins really did not have much motivation and Namtarn, Korn and Mon didn't really have the best motivations either. Pang's best friend had a good arc though) and I expect Blacklist to do the same, but failed horribly.

Why was this made again?

I get it. This was based on a novel multiverse. But goodness gracious we had too much time on Tincan and to little time for everything else. The TulHin litterally started two episodes before it ends (and considering it was the best pairing on this season@ that says something). KengklaTechno's scenes were just repeating itself. I didn't see Earth after like one scene.

TinCan could have condensed their story into 4 episodes.
TulHin could have been elaborated for 4 episodes.
Another 4 could have been given to TumTar and KengklaTechno.

But no. Instead, it's like this.
80% of the show is TinCan (which tired me so much)
5% of the show is TulHin
2% of the show is Ae crying
2% of the show is KengklaTechno
1% of the show is Tumtar
And the remaining 10%? Product Placements.

Honestly, I'm not blaming the director. I'm not even blaming MAME. I'm blaming whosoever thought that this season was a good idea, period.

This show is 80% filler, 20% (cringy and horrible) content.

BTW, this is my first time giving a horrendously bad review.

The plot is barely moving.

This review was given before I have finished watching the show, so this is subject to change.

Note: I do enjoy watching this but this doesn't mean it's even relatively good.

Rewatching the GMM releases from 2019, I just realized how disappointing this year was. The only show I would consider "amazing" from their lineup from this year would be 3 Will be Free and Friendzone 2 Dangerous Area, and the one I would consider as "good" would be The Gifted Graduation. I don't think it is because of the condensation since Theory of Love from last year was already unique by itself. This year we had the slowest-paced shows ever, like My Gear and Your Gown and Tonhon Chonlatee is no different. Each episode is not that important, in which you can skip an episode an still be able to catch up. I Told Sunset About You showed such respect to each episode that basically skipping 20 minutes of an episode will throw you off the storyline. I am quite disappointed with this one as much as how I am disappointed with the upcoming shows (basing off from their trailers) and the only ones I had shown interest in were Bad Buddy and 51:15.

Now, let's talk about the issues about the storyline.

1 and 2. Sickeningly Sweet and Poor Two-Dimensional Characters
I get it, it's fluffy, but it's trying too hard. I know that SERIES-Ys are usually fluffy, but isn't this too fluffy. Even 2gether wasn't this fluffy, and I wasn't even a big fan of that one (especially considering the ending). The characters are too two-dimensional. It needs depth. Is Chonlatee capable of thinking literally anything else except for Tonhon? Is Tonhon just that plainly stupid? Is Chonlatee's friend (Pang) nothing more than a supporter? Doesn't she have a life? Does Tonhon's ex-girlfriend have literally anything else to do except for trying to make Tonhon crawl back to her? Is Neo (Na) that uninteresting that all his scenes are basically him tailing Chonlatee? I don't get it. The character here with the most depth is probably Miriam and she isn't even that amazing of a character.

3. That Damn Pacing
I've said this earlier and I'm going to say it again. Give respect to each episode! Each episode must have some sort of mini-arcs just like I Told Sunset About You. Take notes from Director Boss!

Update: I just realized how we're already halfway through the series and no character development has arose. They basically abandoned story structure for this one.

Love that lasts for a day

One day is an amazing feat in screenwriting, weaving many elements together to create such a beautiful order of events. But one thing that bothered me a lot is with that ending. Though it was realistic, a good ending was still possible. If there will be a movie #2, I would watch it and would change my review here.

Acting was superb, cinematography was superb too, but I kind of hated that white filter though. One issue I found out though was that in no way, was all of those events supposed to happen in one day. They rode a train, got stranded, went to festivals in the span of a single day, like how?

I get it. They needed to fit many things to make the movie seem full, and I liked how it turned out, but it just doesn't really sit well with me that all of those were supposed to happen in a single day.
