Great BL and some laughs, but...
I am writing a review about this series almost two years later, oh my. Anyways, I do have to admit, when I watched this series, it was only a little bit after I started really getting into BL's. I discovered this BL off a glimpse, not really expecting to watch the whole thing. Yes, just like many Thai BL dramas, there were many cliche moments that got frustrating. Like the basic "oh you kissed him, now I am going to be upset, and you have to come over and make this big apology explaining everything that happened to lead to that moment." Yes all those type of cliche moments. Sometimes they're really great in BL's and help add character development between each other. But other times it is just boring and annoying.
I would have to say that the main couple got annoying after a little while. I really did like them in the beginning, but towards the middle and the end it was getting frustrating. They didn't really have the connection I wanted. There were too many moments where it was just awkward between them and nothing was happening, almost like the camera was idling there and they had no lines. Was the chemistry great between the actors? Of course, but the characters Cooper and Poy had to play together were just not there for me. There were also a lot of moments where the characters really overthought things, and that was very annoying. I feel the only couple who didn't create a lot that commotion, was RamKing's couple. In my opinion RamKing was my favorite couple in the series. They were the only reason why I really continued to watch the series. They had that great chemistry, and also had many times where they could open up to each other in the series. They showed what a real relationship can start off to and excel to become better. Was there a little cliff hanger with them though? Yes, and it wasn't that enjoyable. Ahhh, same for Mek and Boss. They were a pretty good couple, but once again, it was the cliche moments that really got me. Of course Boss had to secretly be in love with Mek, but also have to be into this one girl that he really didn't want to be with. It took so long to see anything happen between these two, and honestly it was upsetting. Like yes, the had their nicknames of wife and hubby, or at least something along those lines, but it just didn't really create anything until the near end.
To add, Frong and Dr. Thara, really ended nowhere in this series. It was more of a Bromance than it was of anything else. I really wanted to see their story show up. That is another reason why I continued to watch this BL. I wanted the series to really show more of them, and how they would've ended up together, but they didn't. Both Frong and Dr. Thara, were scared of admitting their feelings for one another, and it got to be frustrating. They could've even at least had one of the cliche Thai kisses, where one of them falls on the other and then lips touched, that would've even made me happy. But they didn't even do that. I honestly wish I could've seen more of them but we didn't.
I got to say, the amount of intimacy in this BL we got, was very little. Now I don't ever watch BL's for intimacy, I am more there for the chemistry and story line. But only like a few kisses happened in the whole series and it wasn't until towards the end, and yet for some of the characters nothing ever even happened to go further. It either left a little cliff hanger or really not much about the couple. I don't care if there were any bed scenes, but at least a genuine kiss that was good for both sides would've been great, because then you could've really seen how the couple felt about one another. Mind you RamKing had a great kiss, and you could see the emotion and feelings they had for each other. Honestly, I was really looking for genuine, sincere emotions and connections between each character but it just wasn't there, and it made me sad.
Now if I move onto the set up of the BL. It was based just like many Thai BL's, takes place at university and they're either in engineering or medical. I really get annoyed with that type of genre in many Thai BL's. Do some of the BL's do really good with that type of setting/genre? For sure! But for this one, it really didn't work for me. I didn't really enjoy the set up of the BL and wished it could've been much better.
To wrap things up, I honestly would recommend this BL to someone who is just getting into it, but for someone who has been watching for years, and knows what they're into, maybe not. Unless you like the cute goofy stuff. Now don't get me wrong so do I, but this one just wasn't what I was hoping for. I really just wanted more for the couples. Also like many of the other people have said, this series could've been wrapped up into 10-12 eps at most, but it was really stretched and it started to get boring. The scenes were longer than they needed to be and could've just got summed up. I was a little bummed out about this series, and wished it could've been a little better since the director of this series also did Sotus. I just wish there could have been improvements and more of a connection with the couples and even characters.
