  • Confessions

    1. Confessions

    Japanese Movie - 2010

    10

    Favorite Character  |  Sensei Moriguchi

What a TRIP!!! Although a lot of it was depressing, unbelievable, and stylistically dark, it struck a feeling deep inside of me I hadn't felt for a long time. The ending is one of the most satisfying I've seen as well. I was initially put off by the slower first half, but I'm glad I stuck around because what a story this one was. Gripping, shocking, mind-boggling, and overall gratifying, it's easily a 10/10 from me.

  • On Your Wedding Day

    2. On Your Wedding Day

    Korean Movie - 2018

    9.5

Favorite Character  |  Hwang Woo Yeon

This is easily one of my top all-time favorite movies. No matter how many times I watch it, I still feel the same way as the first time I saw it. Many are split on the iconically notorious ending, however, I am actually a huge fan of it. It's a realistic depiction of when love simply isn't enough. The chemistry is amazing, the acting is brilliant, the atmosphere is warm, fuzzy, nostalgic, and sweet. It makes me explore my own sense of love and self in every viewing. Truly outstanding. The only reason it isn't a 10 is because I think they should've used a stronger explanation and reason for the ending. Otherwise, it probably would've been my favorite movie tbh. I just love how happy endings don't necessarily mean they need to end in the way we all associated with being "happy."

  • The Man From Nowhere

    3. The Man From Nowhere

    Korean Movie - 2010

    9.5

Favorite Character  |  Cha Tae Shik  (the only character lmao)

At the end of my first watch, I remember sitting there as the black-screened credits rolled and simply taking it all in. My jaw was dropped and my heart was broken, yet it was one of the greatest feelings I've ever had. As a big fan of thriller movies, none have been able to capture me as this one has. Gripping from beginning to end, tragedy laced throughout, fantastic acting, and one of the best final fight scenes I've seen. There's so much to love. 9.5 only because there were some draggy bits in the middle.

  • Survival Family

    4. Survival Family

    Japanese Movie - 2017

    9.5

Favorite Character  |  Suzuki Kenji (he's smart)

I don't even remember how I started watching this. I think I just chose a random movie to turn on and I do not regret it in the slightest. While the concept isn't extraordinary, I fell in love with the execution. It's a simple survival tale about a broken family who must learn to rely on each other when electricity completely shuts off. I love the realism. The subtle moments as the family rekindle their bond with one another. It never felt boring or slow to me, it felt...calm. It felt like I was on the journey with them (but thank god not having to bike that far). It felt like a complete story and I personally adored it.

  • Dernier Train pour Busan

    5. Dernier Train pour Busan

    Korean Movie - 2016

    9.5

Favorite Character  |  NOT Yong Suk that freaking RAT  (that's an insult to rats)

Classically iconic. I'm sure most of the world has already seen this lol. Beautiful family tragedy perfectly meshed with exciting survival horror. It's no wonder it blew up like it did. Despite watching it 3+ times by now, I can still say the film hits every single time. They also did quite a good job of character establishment, making you care enough to fear for their lives. Survival horror movies often don't do that which is why it also made waves. It's just that incredible. 9.5 just because of the slow beginning and the FREAJING ENDING :@#$^!?
