Kim Min Ju will reportedly star in her first-ever leading role in a new romance K-drama.
On November 11, media outlet OSEN released an exclusive report stating that Kim Min Ju and Chae Jong Hyeop will be the main leads of the upcoming K-drama Shining.
This will possibly be Kim Min Ju's first-ever leading role since her debut.
Kim Min Ju became more known after appearing in the survival program Produce 48. She debuted with the girl group IZ*ONE and continued to promote with other members up until 2021. Currently, Kim Min Ju is continuing her career as an actress.
The idol actress has appeared in several K-dramas as a supporting role. She is known for being part of the K-dramas Connection, The Forbidden Marriage, Tempted, and more.
Aside from Shining, Kim Min Ju will also join the cast of the upcoming K-drama Undercover High School. The K-drama will be led by Seo Kang Joon, Jin Ki Joo, Kim Shin Rok, and Yoon Ga Yi.
Shining will tell the story of two people who find hope and direction in their love for each other. It will follow the story of a couple in their thirties who rekindle their romance ten years after a heartbreaking breakup caused by a tragic loss.
Actor Chae Jong Hyeop received the offer to portray the main lead role Yeon Tae Oh. After the tragic loss of his parents and his brother's injury, his quiet life in a small town was forever changed. A decade after ending their relationship at the age of 20, he is set to reconnect with his ex. The reunion is expected to showcase his lingering feelings of loneliness and regret.
Kim Min Ju got the offer to portray the role of Mo Eun Ah. She met Yeon Tae Oh at 19 and 10 years later, she will reunite with him.
The upcoming K-drama will be the next work of writer Lee Sook Yun (A Piece of Your Mind and Tune in for Love). It will be produced by Kakao Entertainment.
Shining will reportedly premiere next year.
