The upcoming sports movie Boston 1947 has confirmed its release date.

Boston 1947 weaves the story of Korean marathon runners who ran the first international marathon held after World War 2. The movie is set to premiere on September 27th.

The poster from the movie displays a poignant moment in history. It shows Son Gi Jeong (Ha Jung Woo), the esteemed gold medalist of the 1936 Berlin Olympics, juxtaposed with the image of Seo Yoon Bbok (Yim Si Wan), a national representative from South Korea running in the 1947 Boston Marathon.

Despite winning a gold medal in a record-breaking time of 2 hours, 29 minutes, and 19 seconds, Son Gi Jeong wears a gloomy expression and holds a plant, trying to conceal the emblem of the colonizing Japan on his chest. In stark contrast, Seo Yoon Bbok proudly wears the emblem of South Korea, symbolizing the nation's newfound independence.

The accompanying teaser opens with director Kang Je Gyu's rhetorical question, asking what thoughts might have raced through Son Gi Jeong's mind as ran 42.195km at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

The next scene shows Son Gi Jeong's gloomy expression for being represented as Japanese despite being a Korean national. It is followed by the real Son Gi Jeong's appearance, showing him under strict surveillance like he is a convict, as he returns home, evoking a sense of sorrow. Then, a photo of the national representative of the Republic of Korea, proudly wearing the South Korean emblem for the first time after independence, evokes pride.

The film captures the aspirations of Son Gi Jeong and aspiring marathoner Seo Yoon Bbok, who dreams of becoming the second Son Gi Jeong. Their pursuit of glory in the 1947 Boston Marathon promises a profoundly moving and inspiring cinematic experience.
