"I started filming about three months after giving birth": "Parasyte: The Grey" Lee Jung Hyun Shares
Actress Lee Jung Hyun shares her experience of doing action scenes in Parasyte: The Grey.
The press conference for the Netflix original drama Parasyte: The Grey was held on March 26 at Seoul Dragon City in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Director Yeon Sang Ho, writer Ryu Yong Jae, actors Jeon So Nee, Koo Kyo Hwan, Lee Jung Hyun, Kwon Hae Hyo, and Kim In Kwon attended the event.
Parasyte: The Grey is a Netflix series that portrays the conflict between humans and mysterious parasites that fall from space, create their forces using humans as hosts, and unleash chaos. The K-drama is based on a Japanese manga series, Kiseijuu, by Iwaaki Hitoshi.
In the drama, actress Lee Jung Hyun portrays Choi Joon Kyung, the leader of the parasite eradication task force Team Grey, who lives solely to exterminate parasites after losing her husband to a parasitic beast.
Lee Jung Hyun stated, "I started filming about three months after giving birth. The rifle was heavy, so I focused on building my body first. Since I don't have arm muscles, I used to carry around with me two 3kg dumbbells and lift them before action scenes. Then, once I held the rifle, it felt lighter. That's how I made efforts."
She added, "When doing gun action, the gestures had to be simple for them to look cool. While consulting with the stunt team on how to appear stylish, I prepared myself carrying the heavy rifle."
Parasyte: The Grey will be released on Netflix on April 5.
