Hwang Min Hyun's action comedy 'Study Group' gears up for release
Bad and Crazy's Han Ji Eun exudes charisma in the role of Choi Go Eun in When the Stars Gossip.
When the Stars Gossip follows Eve Kim (Gong Hyo Jin), a top astronaut and perfectionist who does not tolerate even a single mistake, and Gong Ryong (Lee Min Ho), who goes to the space station with a secret mission.
Han Ji Eun takes on the role of Choi Go Eun, the CEO of MZ Electronics, a woman with beauty, intelligence, and capability. Choi Go Eun, the heir to the MZ Group — a name familiar to every Korean — is considered the ideal type by many. However, she firmly believes that there isn't a single man on Earth worth her trust, leading her to completely shut herself off from affection.
Talking about her character, Han Ji Eun shared, "I'm not sure if this is the right way to describe her, but my first impression of Choi Go Eun was that she's like 'a fine-looking apricot sour on the inside.' While she's a wonderful modern woman with great ability and the heir to the magnanimous MZ Group, her inner self harbors not only pain from her past but also a deep longing for affection."
She continued, "While acting, I tried to embody both icy and passionate [demeanor] simultaneously," adding, "Choi Go Eun is someone who wants to keep work and personal life separate. I wanted to highlight her pride when it comes to her work, while also portraying her pure and devoted side in matters of love. I wanted to portray a character who, while being someone everyone admires, harbors pain, which makes her relatable and human."
She added, "To highlight her charisma as a corporate heir, I used bold and sharp-fitted styles. Since Choi Go Eun is a character who hides her inner wounds behind her pride, I chose flashy, primary-colored outfits and maintained a sleek, straight hairstyle."
Han Ji Eun explained that she paid meticulous attention to the character's wardrobe and styling to ensure her traits were conveyed even in the smallest details.
Han Ji Eun concluded, "Many may expect When the Stars Gossip to be flashy because it's set in space and involves [a conglomerate like] the MZ Group, but it's actually a human drama about the stories of people. If you focus on the human aspects within the grand scale of events, I think you'll find it even more enjoyable."
When the Stars Gossip will premiere on January 4, 2025. The K-drama will be available to stream on Netflix.
