I'm at a lost for words

I'm at a lost of words.

I relate to Lune so much. It stays consistent in his personality in the way he interacts with the world. I feel like shows forget to show not tell and say their personality is introverted, loner etc but then makes the person have the most confident, funny, popular, class clown energy within 2 seconds of meeting someone. And that's not how it works. I feel so seen in how Luna feels left out and his realization that they are trying and not doing it on purpose. It's all a healing process for ppl who suffer this type of trauma. I feel like this is my story?I can just take tips from Lune.

People say "their comfortable being alone" only bc they were forced to, it became a habit and anything outside of it is strange. When you finally experience something outside of being alone it's suddenly not so comfortable anymore. Like lune realizing having friends isn't that bad.

Lots of Summer Days

Lune = the moon. Personally, I don’t believe in the moon, I think it’s the back of the sun… still, I understand why Lune came off as a red flag. Ever heard of the blood moon? Anyway, is Star like a friend of Sera's or an enemy? I can't believe my WhiteIvy ship didn't sail... my year is ruin until January 25th. :((((

Look, I don’t know what school y’all went to, but in what class would anyone not notice a student like Lune? Dude was tall with hair, brooding, and looked like an angel coo'ed every time he breathed. Like?? Lune being an invisible kid was so far-fetched I’d sooner believe thai bls would one day stop the guitar scene than to believe Lune is a loser. Like did y'all see his model face during that runaway show??

There was a lot of drama on this show. Good, and nonsense drama. Many hated Lune when White punched him, some sided with White cuz he felt like an extra and background prop. Most of us were team #WhiteIvy, while a lot of us called Star names for acting unreasonable, and of cause, we all swoon whenever Jewel and Tan were on the screen. Avadakedavra and whathaveyous.

But listen, when that drama that separated them happened, I did not side with anyone. Matter of fact, I almost lost an eyeball rolling my eyes at White’s dramatic arse, and Lune’s pathetic face.

I UNDERSTOOD WHITE:
but he was annoying for acting like he trademarked Star.
Yes, if I brought a loser invisible boy who look like a cover star into my friend group, asked him if he like my crush, he says no, then said crush rejects me, and I later find out he’s dating her, and my friends are now hanging out with him and ignoring me… I too, would punch him and disown him.

White’s pain, and feeling betrayed was justified. He had a reason for feeling the way he did. The pain from the reject was still fresh, and with how they were ignoring him to protect him, it was no wonder he blew up in their face, and especially felt more hurt with Ivy, since she was the one he confined in the most.

BUT BUT… boy! Come on. Like, this girl rejected you, give it a rest and go find something to eat. Sometimes, I don’t understand the ‘code’. The unspoken rule about not dating someone who a friend have a crush on or dated. Hmm, just because they don’t vibe with you, I ain’t allow to feel for them? Boy was acting like he had trademarked Star, when she literally rejected him by saying she liked someone else.

That being said, White was my fav character. He was such a good friend and an amazing human being. Being there for this friends, taking the blame to protect Nana. I felt sad for him when he was rejected, but my arse was highkey shipping him with Ivy, so like, it made me happy. I kind of get why they didn't end up together, their friendship was waay too good to ruin, but still, it hurts. Also, he gave the best advice, we all need a friend like that. The only advice I ever gave my friend was to never say no to free food. She'd gain weight now, but she hasn't paid for meals in a while...so #winning. AND, he slayed that runway.

I UNDERSTOOD LUNE:
But homeboy was such a people pleaser and a try hard. Lune as a character was one of those red flag that comes with green wrappings. The worse thing being he himself didn’t even know he was a red flag. Sure, he was a good person and tried to do the right thing always. But by putting everyone before himself, he literally drove everyone around him insane.

Dumping Sera with no explanation. Sure he got his arse whooped, but at least if he’d explained, poor girl would have moved on. Telling White 'bros-before-hoes' only to turn around and date his crush in secret, boy!! The trouble he went through for White when he got in that scandal, all so he could apologise for dating a single girl who agreed to go out with him. And the whole driving his girlfriend crazy by trying to give his ex-girlfriend the time of her life.

All these was a good attempt on his part, but also made him come off as a red flag. At one point during that dinner, I was like...OMG will you shut up about Sera??? I understood he wanted to make up to her, but the way he did it, if I was his girlfriend, I too will yell at him in the rain. Heck, would have thrown all those plates on the ground for dramatic effect ^^

As the main character, Lune was dull, sure most of the events evolved around him, but he still seemed so grey, not a lot of color. I admit, I did like his character and was cheering for him to stop being a bish and admit he likes Star back. That being said, I liked how effortlessly Lune and Star's relationship developed, and how warm they felt.

I UNDERSTOOD STAR
Did Star come off as a fake friend for how unreasonable she was being towards Lune’s intention to make Sera's last couple of days memorable? Yes! BUT, GIRLLLL. Her boyfriend literally had an ex who was like her long lost doppelgänger, like, they had the same interests and they both came off very kind, smart, cute, demure. I too would have thoughts, and to keep hearing about their past, that must have hurt. I was surprise she didn't blow up sooner.

So yes, I understood her. and Lune just couldn’t take a hint, Sera this, Sera that, like, child would you keep quiet? Though, I thought she was smart enough to communicate before it came to that point when it got too much for her, but we all know what happened.

As a character, Star was…well, she didn’t annoy me to the point I gave up on her, so good. But her friendship with Sera felt so conditional, that it came off fake. Yes, you are jealous and your boyfriend can't take a hint, but communication is the key girl. Her giving an ultimatum was such an arse move. But am glad Sera understood her, gave Lune's thick head advice, and in the end they became genuine friends.

IVY IS MY GIRL
She was a very good friend. I like how she let go of her long crush and immediately supported Star and Lune. I felt for her when White was mad at her, sometimes being a good friend sucks. I love when she bantered with White and their friendship. We all deserve a friend like her. She was my third fav character. I'm high key super sad we didn't get a WhiteIvy ending, but, but he didn't close that stupid line she drew though...so there's hope.

JEWEL AND TAN RULES
Need I say more? Their scenes were so precious, and I loved how Jewel was so rich rich he was flat out naive. I love their interactions. I was laughing so hard when Tan was talking about the hardship in his life, and Jewel was like, 'Yeah, I understand, sometimes I don't know what car to choose.' CHILD! That's not... That's not even remotely relatable. He was basically like, I'm soo rich, it's exhausting. And Tan just stared like, 'ain't life bish.' skskkss. Jewel was my second fav character, homeboy just went off to the side and fell in love with a Harry Potter impersonator who made coffe, and missed all the actions. Jewel waiting a year to go to Uni with Tan was... tears. Yeah, I loved them, wish them whatever comes after 'the end'.

Anyway, I am nosy. Sometimes, I pull up on twitter with a glass of wine and popcorn, cuz some of y’all have some juicy drama. So yeah, when I saw two bl actors were gonna do a f/m lakorn, my arse immediately stood up! Going in, I wasn't expecting much, but I was surprised at how good this was. I came to look forward to it every week. Phuwin and Dunk's acting was better here than the bls I last saw them in. I like seeing how they've improved, hopefully they take it to their next projects as well.

Star's mother suddenly understanding her, when she's been a helicopter mom forever was far-fetched, but am glad we at least got to see that she and Lune had a supportive family behind them. I liked that Sera seemed to have become part of the group, and Lune was no longer a people pleaser. I'm satisfied with the ending we got, but super sad about my ghostship. WhiteIvy will always be in my heart.

All-in-all, cast did what they were supposed to, bringing their characters to life. The plot itself was nothing new, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The drama exceeded my expectations, and so I'll recommend it to everyone looking for a high school drama. This was my first ever thai f/m drama and I was not disappointed. Give it a watch.

Looking forward to more work from the cast, especially Ryu and Java.

I Big FAN of Both Phuwin and Dunk...but not of this series...so far

I disagree with all people that insist Phuwin and Dunk can't act. In fact they are both fantastic but I think Dunk is overshadowing Phuwin here.
Lune reminds me of Pi in Fish Upon The Sky and though I loved Pi I don't love Lune. I do think Phuwin is doing okay playing Lune I just hate the character almost entirely.
For the first time Phuwin isn't the draw for me here. And the girl who plays Star is adorable but don't like Star either.
Here's hoping White and Ivy get together yet it seems she's into Star unless I'm getting that wrong.
At any rate loving Dunk as White.

Falling Star

I nearly didn't watch this drama. But just within the first episode, the character of White caught my interest. I found him a complex and sympathetic individual, trying to convince himself he's comfortable alone when trauma from his past is what was really holding him back from allowing himself/others to get close. And with each week, I grew more and more attached to everyone else in his new friend group. They all had such vibrancy, and while common for their age, well-portrayed struggles. Questioning your sexuality/not understanding your own feelings, feeling like you don't fit in, feeling left out from your friend group, hiding a crush on a friend, etc.

Lune and Star clicked so well with their shared hesitancy to let people fully know them; the build-up and fall-out from them lying to White was emotionally devastating, levity and oddly enough, rationality in the friend group was found through Jewel (along with some sweetness with his romance with Tan) in the middle of everything, and Sera, what should have been a wrench thrown into everything, was a surprisingly mature addition that only widened my view of Lune.

But then, they fumbled the bag. They did a complete 180 with Star's character and had her become a possessive, controlling, and uncommunicative partner to Lune, guilt-tripping him, misunderstanding him, and refusing to see reason or listen. Lune, who has been hurt before and hurt others before, tells her he wants to be a better person and tells her specifically how he wants to do that, and what does she do? Give him a painful ultimatum and accept his apology while taking zero accountability herself.

In the end, I felt the need to take a whole point off just for how Star's character ended up.

I'm kind of disappointed in myself for getting attached and invested, only to be let down.

Classic High School Drama

A story about friendships, somewhat growing up and navigating life in high school drama. It takes you on an emotional roller coaster that depicts pretty accurate the worries of teenagers.

Dunk and Lookjun were my highlight of this series. Especially Dunk delivered a great performance as White. That one emotional scene made me cry and I’m not a crier. Lookjun was perfect as Ivy.

Ryu and Java did good too, just wish we would been allowed to explore their plot more. I’m still wondering about Tan’s backstory and Jewel’s personality. I did like their progression, but they could have spent more time on thrm instead of other focuses.

Phuwin and Parn delivered ok in giving life to their characters. At least I learnt that onscreen, Phuwin really just kisses that way?‍♀️ It is what it is… I’m still mad about GMM making yet another one-dimensional female character with absolutly no growth or development. At least Lune had some trauma that explained why he did what he did and acted like he were.

GMMTV you are my #1 enemy

I really enjoyed this series so much at the start but as it went on, Lune and Star did so many things that really annoyed me and it just continued getting worse throughout the series. No matter how likable the side characters are, if the main characters are just simply annoying it makes it difficult to watch the series.

I'll start with the things I enjoyed first. White & Ivy were such easy characters to root for, individually and together. I started this series because I really like Lookjun so ofc I had to tune in (esp because she's playing a bi character). But I was surprised that I was shipping White and Ivy the most out of every character. Maybe it's because they were both hurt by the same person so seeing them comfort each other was very nice. I also think Lookjun and Dunk played off of each other very well (honestly the whole cast did), and this was some of the best acting I've seen from Dunk. I was disappointed that they teased that they would get together but just ended it off on "we can't date, we are better off as friends."

As the series went on I realized that both Lune and Star really need to mature and become better people. Not even when it comes to their relationship but when it comes to their friendships. The way they treated White and Ivy threw me off, not even just because those two were my favs. They wouldn't have told Ivy about their relationship if she didn't find out on their own and then the way they treated White was just horrible. I don't know if I could have accepted their apology as easy as he did, which just shows how good of a person he is. Also the way Star just completely stopped Ivy from confessing to her was just really odd.

It was... okay.

I checked out the show and thought it was pretty good, but I'm not entirely convinced I want to watch it again. The storyline was engaging, yet being a GMMTV teen drama, it had a familiar feel to their other series. Most of the cast performed decently, but the more dramatic scenes really highlighted who could shine and who struggled. I felt a bit disconnected during Parn's emotional moments, as her co-star seemed to only express one emotion.

The series primarily focused on Star, with her character growth and the relationships surrounding her taking center stage, which I believe was a smart choice.

In any case, I’d love to see Parn in another series, perhaps alongside Nanon, Mark, Namtan, or Tu.

Contains lots of drama

(Contains spoliers)

Rating - 6/10

So starting of the main character Lune, he was a invisible character until he joined the group. Like make it make sense, that handsome boy being invisible does not make sense. Lune was a grey character for me, hiding the fact that he liked Star and secretly dating her behind White'back was just being coward, and him trying to make up to Sera was great but at what cost.

Star was such a fun and energetic character and made everyone around her feel at ease. She had the right to feel jealous like Sera was literally a carbon copy of her like she had no right not to think she was just a replacement and on top of that Lune prioritizing Sera over her was the last straw. Star's mom suddenly changing was honestly far fetched but atleast she was supportive at the end

White is probably my 3rd favorite character man was honestly a green flag, he had the right to be mad at Lune for hiding his relationship he just wanted his friend to be honest with him, he handled that rejection like a pro and even helped LuneStar in their relationship problems. Him taking the blame for Nana made me realize how great he was. We all need a friend like White.

Ivy is a green flag too. She put aside her long time crush and started supporting LuneStar. She helped Star out with literally everything and even comforted White when he felt alone. So sadwe did not get to see WhitIvy but I get why they didn't end up together.

Last but not least, JewelTan, they honestly carried the whole show, it was a relief from all the drama. Jewel was so entitled and his biggest problem was he got the wrong car color and to see him take so much effort to get Tan was honestly heartwarming. Tan was so adorable thoughout the show with his magic spells. We demand a RyuJava series next!!

Honestly I recommend this series if you love high school drama.
Thank

Coming of age without enough time

With a cast like this, I knew I had to watch Summer Night. It was a very fun show to watch and while I enjoyed watching it weekly, I would guess it's better watched in a shorter period of time. I wouldn't call it slow, but it did feel like a lot of conflicts were drawn out a little too long, especially when it's obvious who Star will end up with.

Lune (Phuwin) has always been a loner . After getting bullied at his last school and then transferring to a new one, he's become fine with this fact - and is also fine with simply admiring his crush Star (Parn) from afar. That is, until White (Dunk) decides he'll do whatever it takes to get Lune to join his friend group. Lune starts becoming closer with White, Star, Ivy (Lookjun), and Jewel (Ryu), but when White reveals his secret crush on Star, Lune feels obligated to hide his feelings. He feels even more obligated to do so when it turns out Star might have those same feelings for him. Faced with either losing a girl or his new best friend, Lune tries to please everyone and ends up doing quite the opposite.

I really enjoyed Lune's arc in this show, even when he was a bit stupid at times. However, I felt like the relationship between Lune and Star could have been so much better! It felt like there were so few scenes with them being happy together. Plus, the overly drawn out jealousy plotline got annoying real quick. With all the characters in the show, it felt like they were trying hard to balance out screentime, and it got the best of them. Honestly, if this had been a 12 episode series instead of 10 they might have been able to do a bit more, but it just felt like some things were rushed while others were too slow. But still, the cast was great and it was definitely enjoyable.

“Summer Night,” is a delightful blend of high school drama and coming-of-age storytelling.

Set against picturesque high school backdrops, the series captures the thrills and challenges of adolescence, friendship, and first love. While the narrative is charming, it is the standout performances of Phuwin Tangsakyuen and Dunk Natachai that truly elevate this youthful drama, adding depth and nuance to the story.

Highlight on Acting: Phuwin and Dunk:
Phuwin Tangsakyuen and Dunk Natachai bring a fresh energy and authenticity to "Summer Night." Phuwin’s performance is a masterclass in subtlety and emotional range. He portrays a young man at a crossroads, grappling with his emotions, friendships, and future aspirations. His ability to convey vulnerability with just a glance or a hesitant smile makes his character deeply relatable and compelling.

Dunk Natachai adds a spark of liveliness and charm to the series with his portrayal of a spirited, carefree teenager who hides his insecurities beneath a confident exterior. His performance is infused with warmth, humor, and sincerity, bringing a dynamic balance to Phuwin's more introspective role. Dunk’s ability to switch between light-hearted moments and deeper, emotional scenes showcases his versatility as an actor. Together, Phuwin and Dunk create a captivating duo whose on-screen presence is magnetic and memorable.

Chemistry and On-Screen Dynamics:
The chemistry between actors in the series is one of the series' strongest assets. Their characters’ evolving friendship and budding romance feel genuine and heartfelt, anchoring the story in a realistic portrayal of high school relationships. From moments of playful banter to intense emotional exchanges, their interactions are filled with a mix of innocence, tension, and authenticity that perfectly captures the uncertainty and excitement of youth.

High School Drama and Coming-of-Age Elements:
“Summer Night” effectively incorporates the elements of high school drama and the coming-of-age genre, portraying the rollercoaster of teenage life with all its highs and lows. The series delves into familiar yet relatable themes—navigating friendship conflicts, dealing with first crushes, and discovering one’s identity and purpose. These moments are portrayed with a sense of nostalgia and tenderness, making the series resonate with anyone who remembers the awkward yet thrilling years of high school.

The show also touches on the pressure of future decisions, the struggle to fit in, and the desire for independence—all central themes of adolescence. The coming-of-age aspect is handled with sensitivity, exploring the characters' growth and personal transformations as they face challenges, make mistakes, and learn about themselves and each other.

The series Strengths:
Beyond its compelling leads, "Summer Night" is visually appealing, with beautiful cinematography that captures the essence of a vibrant summer filled with promise. The warm, sun-soaked settings and soft lighting create a dreamy atmosphere that complements the show's themes of youth and discovery. The soundtrack, featuring both upbeat and poignant tracks, perfectly underscores the emotional beats of the series.

Criticisms:
While "Summer Night" has many strengths, it does have a few weaknesses. The plot occasionally falls into predictable patterns typical of high school dramas, and some secondary characters and subplots could have been fleshed out more to add depth.

Conclusion:
“Summer Night” is a charming high school drama that captures the magic of adolescence and the bittersweet journey of growing up. Phuwin Tangsakyuen and Dunk Natachai deliver standout performances, bringing authenticity and heart to their roles. Their captivating chemistry, along with the show’s nostalgic portrayal of high school life, makes "Summer Night" a compelling watch for anyone who enjoys coming-of-age stories. Despite its familiar plot elements, the series shines with its warmth, humor, and the irresistible charm of its leads, reminding us all of the unforgettable summers of our youth.
