Fresh idea, Excellent execution

I just want to say congratulations to everyone involved with this show because it was perfect. I have loved Korean bls because of the production value and this show took it to another level. The plot, the world building, the acting, everything was amazing and it is definitely starting the year on a very high point. I was already interested in watching this because of Woongki but I never imagined the show was going to be this incredible. The shows this year are going to have to be amazing for this to not be in my top 5 at the end of the year. Lee Tae Vin was absolutely amazing in this considering how difficult it must be to portray his character and I'll definitely look out for more of his projects in the future.

She's talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show-stopping,

When news of this show first reached my ears, I must admit, I was somewhat hesitant. After all, I'd encountered my fair share of typical high school Korean BL dramas in the past. However, the mention of Woong Gi's involvement sparked a flicker of interest within me. And let me tell you, deciding to give it a shot turned out to be a choice I do not regret!

The show's storyline is a complex and detailed work of art that captivates viewers with its intricate plotlines and unexpected twists. Each moment keeps you on the edge of your seat, making it hard to look away. The characters are equally impressive, with depth and authenticity that bring them to life before your eyes. This show is a shining example of the power of storytelling and the magic it can bring to our lives.

But what truly steals the spotlight is Lee Tae Vin’s portrayal of Tae Myung Ha. His performance is nothing short of mesmerizing; he imbues the character with complexity and subtlety. The other characters were also impressive, including Yeon Woo, who served as the endearing "cute puppy sunflower" of the show. The exploration of the theme of regret with the rarity of second chances, resonates deeply. As the dynamic between Yeon-woo and Myung-ha blossoms, the desire for a more conclusive resolution intensifies.

As a devoted fan of the show, I must confess that its ending left me with a whirlwind of emotions. While I appreciate the closure it provided and the loose ends it tied up, I couldn't help but feel a yearning for more. The plot and its characters are too rich and multi-dimensional to be contained in just one season. That's why the possibility of a second season is more than just a hopeful prospect it's a necessity.

In conclusion, this show has far surpassed my initial expectations. It stands as a testament to exceptional storytelling, with a plot that keeps you hooked from start to finish, characters you can't help but root for, and performances that leave you in awe. Without a shred of doubt, I wholeheartedly award it a perfect 10/10 rating. It's a must-watch for anyone seeking a riveting storyline brought to life by a stellar cast.

Amazing positive messages about learning to love life and your loved ones

Love for Love's sake is a beautiful story that captures the growth of both MLs in learning to love life in new ways. Finding those who truly care about you whether that is friends, family or romantic partners. I love this drama for the beautiful messages it conveys.
Now into the SPOILERS
-
-
I commend this drama for so so many reasons.
Firstly, obviously its a BL but the way they address homophobia is wonderful. They truly show that love is love, it doesn't matter who is involved.
Secondly, this drama was able to explore the regret behind suicide in a way that doesn't shame the victim. In the recent drama Death's Game the main plot point and message were very similar however, what Death's Game failed to achieve was a true sense of compassion for the victims who felt they had no other option than to turn to suicide. In Love for Love's sake the ML is able to enter into the game and truly learn and grow rather than be punished and repeatedly shamed for his decision. The ML is able to change his mind because he truly feels that his life has worth and meaning, not simply guilt tripped that his death caused pain and inconvenience to others.
Amazing story and acting. There were a few parts where I was slightly confused by the story progression but it is forgivable.

Must watch

It comes across as a cutesy BL featuring a video game simulation, but it turns out to be so much deeper than that. Honestly may be my new favorite BL. Beautiful story, amazing cast, incredible acting. It shows the importance of self-love, how avoidant attachment styles can negatively impact relationships and the joy of second chances. So many of us believe we are not deserving of love, and we are. Just like this show portrays. I’m so happy Tae got to experience what it’s like to love and be loved in return. He deserved it

Please watch it without having high expectations

You should watch it without any spoilers or expectations because, wow, this might just become one of my favorite BL shows ever! Initially, I thought it might be a cheesy comedy, but it turned out to have a much darker twist. The way Yeo Woon mirrored Myungha's real-life experiences truly shows how Myungha is attempting to help him overcome his past mistakes. I found myself in tears when Myungha's mother refused to acknowledge his existence and the realization that the game was created to bring him happiness, not for anyone else's benefit.

The depth and complexity of the characters in this show are truly remarkable. Each episode reveals new layers of their personalities and motivations, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats. The chemistry between Yeo Woon and Myungha is palpable, and their evolving relationship is both heartwarming and heart-wrenching to witness. The intricate storytelling and stunning cinematography make this BL show a must-watch for fans of the genre. So, grab some tissues and prepare to be taken on an emotional rollercoaster ride filled with love, friendship, and redemption.

What the hell was that??!!!

This is absolutely the best kbl ever. I can even go as far as to say best bl ever.

I love myuang ha, our main lead. His acting was phenomenal. I can literally feel the confusion, fear, irritation and love through the screen from him. He is definitely a gem.
Yeon woo was just an adorable baby. I love the changes in his behaviour after he started falling for myuang ha. His little smiles and giggles whenever he saw him was just uggggggghhh(≧▽≦).
And the best part he didn't took too much time to realise his feelings. He was so sure and true to his feelings. Also even though there were circumstances that stopped myuang ha from doing the same. We could still feel that he is too falling for him.
The other characters were amazing too.
I loved sang won's character. I felt bad for him but I loved it that he didn't started hating on Yeon woo just because he became his love rival. Moreover, he started helping him more because he loved myuang ha which is adorable and shows how much he really cared for myuang to even do what makes myuang ha happy. He is lovely and I wish he finds himself a lover too in their universe.

I won't say much even though I did but Just watch it.
Definitely worth every second.

Second chances

I watched it and I loved it – plain and simple. Aspects of the show I found most appealing include the following.
- Universal topics. Issues raised by the show include first love, trust, search for happiness, expressing feelings, difficulties of communication, fear of getting hurt, fear of hurting a loved one, longing for love and companionship, overcoming insecurities, dealing with trauma and emotional baggage – among others.
- Relatability. Myung-Ha and Yeo-Woon – so different and yet sharing many similarities – are like mirrors reflecting issues we all have. Myung-Ha’s “I don’t know what to do when I like someone” and Yeo-Woon’s “You’re my first everything” and “Whenever I see you, I both feel good and want to cry” sum it up perfectly.
- Minimalism. No time was wasted on filler, unnecessary scenes or gestures, also there is almost no “fluff”. Despite focusing on one couple and one plot (Chun Sang-Won and Ahn Kyung-Hoon are not primary nor even secondary characters in this story – they are merely there, just like the rest of the cast, for the main couple to have someone to interact with) the show managed to convey an abundance of story and content. The storytelling was very concise and highly effective.
- Performances. Lee Taevin and Cha Joowan did a superb job, their performances are very strong and convincing. Both actors were visibly comfortable with the material and each other, displaying a top-tier on-screen chemistry. Very impressive.
- The switch. Initially Myung-Ha is the active one, getting through to Yeo-Woon, but once Yeo-Woon embraces his feelings he takes the lead, while Myung-Ha begins keeping his distance, realizing his own problems. In someone else’s hands this shift could be wasted or become incomprehensible or would require more time to be developed – but not in LFLS.
- Serious tone and humor reduced to a minimum.
- Very good cinematography and camerawork.
- Memorable and well-chosen music, with the instrumental bit accompanying Myung-Ha’s search for Yeo-Woon in ep. 1 (as well as Myung-Ha’s and Yeo-Woon’s reunion at the beach in ep. 8) being my absolute favorite.

This was the second Korean BL I watched (“Choco Milk Shake” being the first one) and this might explain my initial surprise at the difference between Thai BLs and LFLS. As I tried to explain to a colleague of mine: when I watch Thai BLs I treat the characters as Polish (I am from Poland), only played by insanely good-looking guys. That is the level of similarities and relatability I sense when watching Thai productions. LFLS was initially different – either because of cultural differences, Korean style of BL making, source material, artistry of Kim Kyun-Ah or other factors. That feeling of otherness, however, lasted for about 10 minutes.

LFLS is a true gem. It is not perfect, however its flaws are so few I decided to omit them in this review. Some might be surprised that so far I did not mention the computer game like setting and everything connected with it (including the “plot twist” in ep. 7). The reason for that is rather simple: I did not find it important. This is, after all, a love story, and not a story about computer games; what matters is the plot – not the setting.

The best Korean BL of all times

I am not going to summarize anything but I wanted to write this review so it will remain here at all times. This drama is one of the best dramas (not just BL) I have watched all my life (I watched nearly 200 BLs, and I would say among them it will enter the TOP 5). It left me with happiness and peace and honestly deserve all the awards. The acting and storyline are great, I just want to rewatch it all over again.
You know sometimes it's so good that you would want a second season, but this one is the opposite in the most beautiful way?! The most I would like to see is a special episode, this is how good this drama is. Totally advise everyone to watch it.

Eternal Love

The description and the promotional poster deceive.

A shallow view may be derived from the focus on the romantic aspect.

Love for Love's Sake is sweet, funny, and sometimes a little silly but that is because it is a simulation, it is not real. This depicts the story of an individual without love ultimately finding love from the following sources; friendships, romance, and the self.

This is not a love story, but a story of love.

The consequences of a human being deprived of such a necessity for living never end well. This gives hope that one can be happy, that one can love, that one can be loved--even when it is too late.

A portrayal of the regretful. Regretful, although the mind cannot process a clear thought, indeed it parallels systematic errors, corrupt files, and the broken engine. Fortunately, the regret is eased.

There are moments that are out of place, moments that may bore. Life is redundant, and when life is made fictional, how could it not be peculiar?

If you decide to watch this show I want to ask you: are you ready to be loved?

I would dare say this work is one of The Representatives of the K-BL industry

This drama will always have a special place in my heart. They executed Myungha and Yeowoon’s story so well from the cinematography, visuals to the pacing and acting. It was all well-thought and put together. Though I would say the ending was indeed a bit info overloaded but I think they have done what they could with what they were given. Nevertheless, I love how they went about it. I’ve always been the type to love dramas or movies that scratch my brain, so lol, the depth of the story and each character’s emotions were truly something. Also the chemistry! (On and off cam, I must say.) Ah, makes me want to see more of them. I hope they work together again in the future! And please be happy, Taevin, Joowan, Minsu and Woongki.

From -20 to 100, the possible setbacks do not matter... only the advance

When the two protagonists meet, Cha Yeo-woon's affection level towards Tae Myung Ha was -20. When he gave him the shoes to use in the race, he dropped to -99. Due to the level of negative affect, the video game constantly throws out debuffs that would affect Yeo-woon. It had to be reversed.
I've been thinking about how to title this review. The race in which Cha Yeo-woon's affection level towards Tae Myung Ha goes from -99 to 1 gave me the title: 'From -20 to 100, possible setbacks don't matter... only progress'.
Since the early days of cinema, the industry has constantly sought new ways to captivate audiences. In recent decades, video games, like esports news, have emerged as a powerful and exciting form of entertainment.
This convergence between cinematographic art and video games has led to the creation of films and series that explore the theme of virtual worlds and immersive experiences.
Since 'Tron', directed by Steven Lisberger in 1982, considered the pioneering film in the world of cinematic virtual reality, until today, many film and television productions transport viewers to a digital world, where the characters are literally transported inside a videogame.
'House of the Dead', 2003; 'Alone in the Dark', 2005; 'Doom' (2005), 'Super Mario Bros' (1993), Nintendo, 'Mortal Kombat' (1995), 'Street Fighter: The Last Stand' (1994), 'Need for Speed' (2014), 'The Matrix ' (1999), 'Scott Pilgrim vs. the World' (2010), 'Wreck-It Ralph' (2012), 'Ready Player One' (2018) and 'Assassin's Creed', are some of them.
The growing popularity of eSports, virtual reality and video games in general provides rich creative terrain for screenwriters, filmmakers and television directors who seek to challenge conventions and offer unique experiences to their audiences, producing films that not only entertain, but They also serve as a reflection of our collective fascination with virtual worlds and the limitless possibilities they offer.
Kim Kyun Ah as director, and Kwon Cho Rong as screenwriter, take us with 'Love for Love's Sake' to explore the theme of video games and virtual reality.
This Korean drama in which genres such as romance, BL and fantasy come together, tells the story of Tae Myung Ha (Lee Tae Vin), a 29-year-old young man who is transported inside a video game.
Our protagonist enjoys reading a novel written by his Sunbae (Senior). He prefers secondary characters more than protagonists. “Why is Cha Yeo Woon the only miserable one?” you will ask the writer. Not liking the answer, he will state: “The fact that some people are destined to live a miserable life is what is vile.” “So, would you change your life for that of the character?” the novelist asks him.
Upon awakening, Tae Myung Ha experiences a disconcerting twist of fate when he suddenly finds himself transported to a fictional online game in the body of a nineteen-year-old character. He has fallen into "Love for Love's Sake", a video game based on the novel written by his Sunbae.
In this way he embarks on an adventure within the virtual world in which he must fulfill a mission: bring happiness to the student Cha Yeo Woon, his favorite character in the literary work. In the darkest moment of his life, he needs to make Cha Yeo Woon happy or face dire consequences.
A translucent window that constantly appears in front of him will give him game instructions. He will only have 300 days to achieve his goal, otherwise death will be his punishment. Can he survive, protect his favorite person and accomplish his mission?
Tae Myung Ha will wonder: if I was not happy before starting the game, how can I make Cha Yeo Woon happy? Will the game play out completely differently than the novel? How will it end?
Despite being an athlete with relevant results in athletics championships and having a very attractive appearance, Cha Yeo Woon has lived in poverty and maintains a humble attitude. He will see his life turn upside down when he starts interacting in the virtual world with Tae Myung Ha.
Cheon Sang Won (Oh Min Su), a high school student from a wealthy family, becomes emotionally entangled with Tae Myung Ha. His involvement adds complexity to the developing relationship between Tae Myung Ha and Cha Yeo Woon.
Another character in the series is Ahn Kyung Hoon (Woong Gi). This young man, introverted and reserved, supports and helps Tae Myung Ha in his mission within the virtual world.
The Korean BL series 'Love for Love's Sake' (Yeonae Jisangju-eui Guyeok), also known as 'Love Supremacy Zone', is a drama adaptation based on the webtoon of the same name written by Aquram and Hwacha and illustrated by Kkokku.
