Engaging slowburn with some stunning visuals
So Another good drama from WOWOW (it's a 4-episode mini drama, so one can finish it in one sitting). I was also looking forward to this when I saw it was Kanae Minato's novel adaptation. So this takes you on a journey from the perspective of a female director who wanted to make a film about an old murder case involving a girl named Tateishi Sara. Whome she thinks is the one who saved her and gave confident while she was being abused by her mother when she was little ... From there, the story progresses as she wants to know the truth about tateishi sara's murder mystery so she could make an film about it with the help of the other female protagonist Kai mahiro and from there the plot progresses ahead (like all of Kanae Minato's works, this also doesn't involve the police or lawayers in solving mysteries. And that's fr better haha honestly give you different prespective ).Regarding the drama, it focused more on the psychological aspect and the mental state of the people involved in the cases rather than being a thriller throughout...it was still an engaging slow burn.... even though being inconsistent with the pace sometimes. And overall, which was I think was the only downside for me,but I still watched it in one sitting because I was craving for answers, haha.
Now, coming back to the good parts, which are the cinematography and the acting performances ??( kitagawa keiko is still hot man damn) Well Both female leads did a good job, and as for Kubo Shiori, this was a totally different character for sure. It might have been challenging for her, but I'm glad she's taking on roles like this... (I really liked how she smirked every time, lol).
Last ep was probably the best and had good wrap up to the story overall quite emotional ride I had with this... This could have been worked as a movie too honestly bt anyway
Overall It is good quick binge watch

One of this Year's Best
A fresh approach to the overabundance of crime and murder shows coming out of Japan, this series boasts an award-winning director and a struggling screenwriter investigating a murder case that occurred in their hometown. The female leads deliver incredible acting, maintaining a perfect pace throughout. The story, while tying up neatly, remains a beautiful and haunting tale of grief, the need for connection, and understanding. With only 4 episodes, it's a definite recommendation and one of the best of this yearCet avis était-il utile?
