could’ve been written better
the script was rather disappointing, although the overall storyline was good. Main leads were great, their scripts were just not that great. Not to mention that the episodes were so short, this whole series could’ve just been made into a movie. Male lead needs better roles. He is the main reason I finished the series. People were getting annoyed with Female lead, however, the script written for her was not suited. She was doing quite well in Meteor Garden. I’ll watch it again. Cute short story
It's a short novel about demons and humans, the couple is very much in tune, they're cute and had good times together, the story is often funny, light, and good for passing the time. ML is that typical, more reserved protagonist, but with that fierceness that knows how to press her buttons, I got irritated with her on several occasions because she didn't see what was in her face, and she made stupid decisions, but I forgive her because she I felt like I couldn't trust anyone, I was worried about the ending, but it was satisfactory! Blind hatred towards a race is never justified.....
This was a very short series, however the airing schedule made it stretch too long... I had started watching it earlier but had to pause it for a time till all episodes aired...But it would not be a problem for future viewers so no need to discuss that.Actors Zou ye as Bo Qiu and Li JiaQi as Su Xiao Huan did a wonderful job in portraying their emotions within the framework of the story. Even the supporting cast of Xiang Xin as Yu Li and Wang Ting Xu as Xuan Yuan Qingchuan did justice to the role written for them.
The story itself was very simple and motivation of the antagonist was almost non existent, pitting human versus demons would not be beneficial to a halfling, the whole series is focused on killing the demon king, Bo Qiu but nobody stops to question that killing him wouldn't resolve their problems as he wasn't responsible for any of their woes in the first place...the production team with the limited budget tried their best to showcase the tale however if the script had been better the actors could have something more to work on.
What impressed me was the difference between Yu Li and XiaoHuan thought process.... Yu Li reveals that her motivation for creating chaos and slaughtering humans and demons alike was because she had been mistreated by both races in childhood... So she is responsible for the war which is leaving thousands of people hungry, homeless and destitute..... Where as Xiao Huan also states in her conversation with Bo Qiu that she was orphaned at an early age and left to fend for herself, she too had a difficult childhood but she chooses to remember small kindness shown to her by people of offering her warm bowl of food, helping with small things which makes her believe that all people are not bad.... Also Xian Huan's love for animals is heartwarming to see.
Cinematography was the saving grace, picturisation and scenes were shot beautifully.
The instrumental music inserted during ML and FL's emotional scenes was very mesmerizing and soulful. Lot was said in the tune without any words.
Overall : Could be watched once, but not the best mini series out there. Hopefully the actors would get better opportunity in future.

Horribly Written Series that Offers Some Entertainment Value
Upon finishing this show, I found I enjoyed its entertainment value, but after the need to know what happens next being fulfilled and thus wearing off I found that overall this was not good. This series had no world building. We didn’t know who the emperor was ruling. What the set up of his kingdom looked like. Who was on the court. I don’t believe the audience even got the name of the kingdom. And it wasn’t revealed that there were two races of people living in the kingdom, human and demons, which was causing its own issues until nearly the end of the series. Though the ML is the Fox emperor (demon), he’s not seen doing any ruling over his kingdom. For he spends most of his time painting, hanging out with the FL and killing those who are “bad” and drinking their blood. It’s odd because his origins are a white fox). But since when does a white fox act like a vampire? Foxes are indeed carnivores, but have never been known to be associated with the vampire lore.Moreover, the emperor had no guards. So those who wanted to kill him could roam about the palace grounds and his bed chambers unfettered. Granted he did have supernatural powers and was more than capable of taking care of himself but he did have weaknesses and being that he was the emperor should’ve had a guard protecting him and the palace at all times.
As a plot point the audience did see in part why the SML wanted to overthrow and kill the Fox emperor. The latter was killing innocents to satisfy his bloodthirst and the people in the kingdom were suffering in poverty. The emperor explained why he killed those he killed, which wasn’t a justification for what he was doing. And basically shrugged off his subjects starving and being taken advantage of by corrupt officials, saying he’d seen this behavior for 1000 years and that humans would never stop being corrupt. So you’re not going to try and make things better as emperor? Note, killing those whom he deemed corrupt without working to put some system in place to fight corruption and help the people is not making things better.
Worse when he finally got the FL to fall in love with him he abandons his kingdom leaving it to be taken over by whomever wants it, so that he can happily live in obscurity with the FL. SMH. Though the FL claims she cares about the suffering of the people she joins him in this life without a second thought.
The show haphazardly throws in a racial element surrounding the demons being unfairly persecuted by humans, but it falls flat considering everything else that’s wrong with this series. What the series does get right are the comedic moments, the visual effects and the chemistry between the leads. The leads had some smoldering close moments. The heat between them was emanating from the screen. Also it was a fairly entertaining show. Despite the series being horribly written it sort of worked for the previously mentioned reasons and the fact that it was only 240 minutes. If you’re purely looking for a passable love story with no logic but reasonable entertainment value you might enjoy this. Is this worth watching? Maybe. Depends on the viewer. Is this worth rewatching? No.

é um mini cdrama bem gostosinho de assistir, principalmente pra quem tá voltando de uma ressaca braba de varios meses sem ver nada.A atuação dos protagonistas são muito boa, a história se desenvolve de uma maneira bem rápida, com alguns furos, mas bem satisfatória.
gosto muito dos cenários, da fotografia e dos mínimos detalhes sobre a antiga vida dele. Gostei também da construção da história do amor deles, achei tão fofo e divertido.
Ponto positivo pro plot twist do nada, vilão virando mocinho, mocinho virando vilão, maldição se revertendo, muito bom!!

Um bom drama...
Fox Demon Emperor é um drama muito rápido e gostoso de assistir. Mesmo tendo alguns furos de enredo ao longo da trama, isso não atrapalha o desenvolver da história. Para mim o drama em determinados momentos se tornou repetitivo e maçante, acredito que não é legal assistir todos os episódios de uma so vez, assista aos poucos. O plot final é bacana, mas previsível. E o final da historia acredito que ficou aberto a interpretações do publico.Concluindo, acredito se voce esta de resaca de dramas essa é uma boa sugestão para tentar assistir, por ser um drama rápido (mesmo possuindo 24 episódios de quase 30 min), por ter uma bela fotografia, atuação impecável dos atores e por não possuir uma historia complexa para tentarmos entender (é simples e objetivo, mesmo dando a volta ao mundo em alguns pontos da trama)

FL overacting spoilt a drama of great potential
Though the story has its own flaws but in my opinion the flaws can be ignored if the performing artists are convincing enough ...I have seen the ML in back from the brink and honestly his performance as a support role was way better than this one as the main role ..though he tried to maintain the composure of a fox demon and conveyed his emotions of rage quite well but the romantic scene were a little off ...
As for FL, she was disaster .. very non spontaneous though her character is comic and it demands spontaneity yet she tried to cover her horrible performance with over acting which made it even worse ... For example whenever she acted the drunk her performance clearly wanna apart ...
Chemistry between the leads is totally off .. even this kissing scene didn't resonate the emotions ..for some reason I felt they were not comfortable together...
Story was bit slow ... Dynamics of twists were missing ..comedy punches were weak,performed by even weaker artist.

This should have been a full-length series or a movie
The main issue with this drama is that it suffers from what they were trying to do. They essentially tried to stuff the same amount of scenes into a 10-minute episode as they would have in a full-length drama. Consequently, they had no time to really flesh out the characters or develop the plot. This made it seem like things were just randomly happening or characters had sudden and inexplicable change of hearts for no reason whatsoever. From the very beginning, they just jumped into new settings and new scenarios with no foreshadowing or development whatsoever.Beyond that, they had pacing issues from trying to end every 10 minute episode on a cliffhanger of some sort. It almost always felt very forced - going from just a normal scene talking to suddenly some huge thing happening. And that happened over and over again every ten minutes. Everything was just so rushed. They had enough of a "skeleton" of a story that they could have padded it out into a normal length drama. They should have either done that or seriously tighten the story up and make it into a film, dropping multiple scenes. I don't know what on earth possessed them to make it this ridiculous length.
Aside from that, the FL's character was ridiculous - they were going for the foolishly comedic type of character. But I've literally never seen a drama make one of the main leads into this sort of over-the-top stupid characters. Normally when they have a character be that stupid for comedic effect, it's a side character. Or if they have the FL start off as naive and innocent, she doesn't stay like that for long. This girl's stupidity lasted at least 85% of the show - and when she finally started being normal it was a sudden switch because of their timing issues. What made it worse was that every other character was written and acted like this was a serious drama and then you have this one character, the FL, acting over-the-top stupid like this is a comedy.
Overall, it's a relatively short watch and it was a decent story with good costumes and sets, so if you want to watch a drama that doesn't require a time commitment, this is an OK drama.

Extremely high rewatch value. Superb acting by the Male Lead!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS DRAMA!! Let me give you some tips first so you can thoroughly enjoy the series. This is a short drama! It's one of those dramas that runs for about 10 minutes per episode and they strech it out to about 24 eps. Viki (This is where I watched it) has condensed this so there is 30 minutes for each episode (so in total, there is EIGHT episodes in the series.)Think of this drama as a palate cleanser between other longer dramas. It's short & sweet with a lot of skinship!! I have seen Li Jiaqi the main actress before, she has been in a LOT of C-drama. She is very well known & I really like her and enjoyed a lot of her work. She usually plays the sweet little cute girl.
The main male lead is Zuo Ye who I have never seen before and let me tell you he really does take you by surprise!! He plays a sinfully gorgeous fox demon & his acting is superb!! I almost jumped out of my skin at one stage because he looked so much like Wang Hedi!
The trailer completely sold me on this series because it looked so good and the main leads have great chemistry.
Just have fun with this drama & don't take it too seriously. Watch the opening & closing credits it gives a good summary and has a great original sound track.
I knew this was going to be a short drama so my expectation about the series was very light, I knew it would focus mainly on the two leads, have a simple plot with lots of skinship & intimacy - that's pretty much the blueprint of all short cdramas - AND it didn't disappoint. In fact it's one of the better ones! I will say the ML was superb. His acting really surprised me!
Overall this was such a cute & fun drama and would definitely recommend it if you haven't seen it before. I am on my 3rd rewatch!

A good plot wasted by a horribly bad writing
I liked the plot and the CL (Zuo Ye & Li Jia Qi) but the writing is UNBEARABLE.PLOT: A Demon Fox has suffered a curse for 1000 years consisting of seeing his beloved die in all her reincarnations. In this life, he is the feared Emperor Fox, and she is a fake demon hunter. A devious official sends the FL to the Fox's service.

BUT the producer asked them to seriously overplay! As a result, the FL comes across as totally stupid ლಠ益ಠ)ლ The Fox is dangerously handsome, and we already know that the official is a twisted Great Villain...
+ Beautiful images and frames
BUT the cuts are abrupt, the events occur without any transition,...
=> I don't like this style of narration at all!
