An Awesome Light Hearted and Touching Drama

Everyone in this drama just has superb chemistry. It's a really sweet and touching Drama about a mother-daughter pair played by the irrepressible duo of Miho Kanno and Minami Hamabe.

The best part of this drama is that every relationship shown is just so precious. Okada Kenshi is seriously one of the sweetest on screen guy around, ever so patient, understanding and supportive.

You gotta give it to the writers. Even saori's relationship with Gon's father is so sweet despite the crazy age gap.

I've a huge fan of Minami and I can say this was totally worth my time. Just a wholesome drama all around. Kudos to the casts.

It's been a while since I binge-watch a jdrama. I love them for many reasons and the biggest one is the genre slice of life. Uchi no Musume wa, Kareshi ga Dekinai is a heart-warming series about mother and daughter.

Here is what I love about the series:

The cast. It's been a while since I’ve seen Kanno Miho work so I was super excited for this series. Plus I love Hamabe Minami, she was super cute in here. I love that she is not your typical cute innocent main lead. Instead she this fun, sarcastic, manga enthusiastic. I love the interaction between daughter and mom.

The age gap and the potential romance line for each character. It was exciting and I couldn't wait to see who ended up with who.

Screenwriter Kitagawa Eriko. I’ve seen a lot of her works and the one that I can watch on repeat is Orange Days. This felt like a story similar to Orange Days, in the sense that it focused on the relationship between the characters.

I was hoping to see more romance for mom and daughter. I think there was more that could have happened but I think that was for another story. This one is about the relationship between them as mom and daughter. I recommend watching it if you’re looking for a cute, fun and wholesome series.

A drama weaving warmth in every flaw.

Stepping into 'Uchi no Musume wa, Kareshi ga Dekinai!!' was like getting a cozy hug from your favorite blanket – warm, comforting, and filled with all the feels. It's a world where an otaku daughter and her romance-novelist mom team up for life's crazy adventures, and let me tell you, Miho Kanno and Minami Hamabe make this duo the definition of dynamic.

Right from the get-go, the chemistry between these characters hits you in the feels. It's not just your typical romance; it's a full-on exploration of the wild web that is family bonds. Aoi and Sora's mother-daughter tag team is so real that I felt like I was part of their squad, eavesdropping on the coolest friends ever.

Hold up – can we talk about Mizukami Koshi? The dude's the sweetest on-screen guy I've ever seen. Patience, understanding, and support oozing out of every pore. And Saori? Her thing with Gon's father might sound like a script from a rom-com, but darn it if it didn't feel oddly heartwarming and endearing.

Now, let's address the elephant in the room – the flaws. Yeah, this drama's got 'em, but who cares when you're having this much fun? Flaws, schmaws, the quirky dialogues, honest convos, and the epic journey of Aoi and Sora's growth made it a breath of fresh air.

Flaws aside, 'Uchi no Musume wa, Kareshi ga Dekinai!!' is a gem. It's not just a show; it's like grabbing a seat on a rollercoaster of emotions that leaves you with that fuzzy, happy feeling. Major kudos to everyone involved – the writers, the actors – for creating a ride that's equal parts fun, heartwarming, and downright charming. This drama's not just a journey; it's a ticket to the heartfelt intricacies of life, love, and the craziest family adventures. Grab your popcorn; it's one heck of a ride!

A beautiful bond between a mom and her daughter

I think the synopsis can be misleading because this drama here it’s more like a family drama than anything. At the beginning it may seems like it’s going to be a drama about mother and daughter looking for love/boyfriend but then the drama totally turn out to be about love involving family, especially about a mother and her daughter.

For me this drama was a good surprise because I didnt think I was going to love that much. All characters are so lovable and charismatic, I loved all of them. And the bond all of them made it’s so precious too, especially the mom-daughter relationship. Their scenes was amazing and I even cried in some of them. I saw myself in Sora a lot. Also the two main actresses was really good and now I’m a fan of them. And I LOVED Sora-Hikaru relationship omg I wished we had more scenes of them being a couple :( Aoi and Gon were cute together too. I think this it’s the only thing I have to talk negatively about this drama because I loved these relationships so much but sadly none of them are really executed :( In the end we don’t know for sure that Sora will end up with Hikaru and Aoi with Gon (altought we can feel that). I just hoped we could seen more scenes with them becoming a couple because they really have chemistry. But yeah, I do understand that this wasn’t the main focus of the drama. It’s about the love and bond of a mom and her daughter. It’s about family.

If you like slice of life dramas with great characters, acting and a great pace (without feeling that the scenes are too boring), I really recommend this.

Family first, almost flawless

Another outstanding drama about love from Japan. Not a straightforward romcom but a love story for sure, with some really interesting things to say about what love is and what love isn't.

I gave this drama 8.5/10 because it lost its way a little toward the end. Or rather it lost its focus a little bit. The core of the drama was the relationship between the mother and daughter, and it was pretty much perfectly executed. Tender, frustrating, a little confusing, it was so believable and so warm. Sadly, toward the end of the drama far too much time and focus was given to someone with whom the mother had only interacted for one week some 20 years earlier. Not only was the duration of their connection short, there was no depth to it, and yet when this person was introduced to the story in the final quarter of the drama, they were given lines which indicated a very deep awareness of the mother's character, as if they had been very much closer than they were and for for very much longer. It was not credible that this person could know so much about the mother in such a brief and fleeting interaction as theirs is described in the drama.

Nevertheless, 8.5/10 is a very good score and it reflects that with the above exception, the drama really painted the relationships between the characters deftly with skill and a light touch. It's that light touch, that hint of subtlety, which really distinguishes J doramas from K dramas. That and the ability to tell a complete story in ten 50 minute episodes, proving that "less is more". I highly recommend this very, very satisfactory family love story.
