Weak Hero Class 1 (2022)

A beautiful journey of friendships, trauma, school violence & result of bad parenting styles

I picked this drama up because I was intrigued by the story but I stayed for the characters and most importantly the phenomenal acting by the three young men.

I cannot recommend this drama enough to everyone. The production and the acting is off the charts. The three boys gave it all their power into the acting. They brought the characters to life from a paper script.

Characters
The three main characters are Yeon Si Eun, Ahn Soo Ho and Oh Beum Sok. Ahn Soo Ho is a straightforward person and likes to live life freely on his own terms. He is a very hardworking person too and is able to get by from his jobs. He is very physically strong. He is also a strong personality and is street smart. He is unhinged and lives life on the edge. A little reckless to a fault. Yeon Si Eun oh my god where do I begin. He is very introverted and quiet. He is very book smart and is academically gifted. In the begining you will only seem him studying a lot in his class. Although smart, he is also reckless. Ahn Soo Ho brought all the emotions out of Si Eun. He made him smile for the first time and he made him cry for the first time. Yeon Si Eun is able to see what lies underneath people and sees Ahn Soo Ho for the caring person he is. Now coming to Oh Beum Sok. I also do not know where to begin with him. He is a very kind and loving person or could have been if it were not for the deep negativity he harbors within him win. I cannot go further into his character because it would become a spoiler.

Story & Production
The story is about three friends who go through fighting bullies at their school. The first half of the story is about the healthy relationship friendship bond the three make. The second half is about how loneliness and the darkness of our traumas can take over and ruin our lives and healthy relationships. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy that dooms us all and burns everything and everyone around us in the cross fire. The action and thrill you get from watching this story is like no other. It kept me intrigued through every minute of the show. It was exceptional story that kept me hooked. As for the production, the music and direction gave me goosebumps at times. And pulled me into the world of these three boys.

I gave it a slightly low rewatch value because if you watch the scenes again you might get triggered from the violence.

Morality at question

Watching "Weak Hero" is honestly a difficult job. Much like Glory, it makes you feel the anger crawling through your skin and onto your psyche making you delirious of the madness of any justice that is about to come.

It is absolutely worth feeling shocked at how incredible the acting in this series is. Each character is living, and breathing and feels very real. You feel the pain, the anger, and the warmth sometimes too. Among them, the most shocking transformation is Park Ji Hoon. For an idol-turned-actor, Ji Hoon's acting seems masterful and not like someone who has just stepped into a different world of main roles. He has breathed life into Si Eun's character and it is evident that the process would have been excruciating. On the other hand, it is no shocker for me that Choi Hyun Wook has such an incredible range of emotions even within one single 8-episode-long season, it is promising to witness his future roles and watch him grow even a wider diaspora of filmography.

High school dramas are mostly difficult to watch in the K Drama sphere, maybe because most of Asia suffer the same kind of trajectory in their school lives. It is difficult almost immensely so, it breaks you apart, tears you apart, and leaves you with traumas and scars you survive forever with. With dysfunctional families a very common harrowing reality present in the background, the effect is only heightened. "Weak Hero" is an ode to that: the horrific high school experience.

I don't want any empathy or redemption to be reserved for Bum Seok here, he is not a victim, he is a perpetrator. No amount of tears, guilt, regret, remorse, sad background music, revelations, flashbacks, or redemption arc would make me want to feel anything but anger for his character. There is no need for sadness or pity either, the way he turned out HE CHOSE TO BE THAT. Circumstances can push you to the edge, how to survive further is your active choice. An idea that is crucial to world-building in "Weak Hero".

Season 1 is tastefully done, at times pushing you into madness about what is to follow, but lays a very strong groundwork for the 2nd part to land on. We just wait and watch.

It was great

I just loved this drama... It was really great .


Ji hoon always wanted to show a different image to everyone & he did it through this drama... I really really want him to shine more I mean he worked soooo hard to be here love a lot jihoon ❤️❤️

Also I did loved the character Soo ho I liked him on his previous drama too... He is a really actor & I guess he will also a main lead of many drama's in future 😍..

I did hate Beom seok... Actually when I first saw him I didn’t liked him & then he showed his true colour.... Anyways he deserve some pity too but still I hate him I mean he bought them together & then he is the one who hurt them... He felt really creepy ............................

There is one thing I don’t understand why it is a restricted drama? I didn’t find the violence part that much scary for it was ok...


I also loved the ost at the end of the drama.
But I Won't be watching this drama again...
But I will be waiting for s2 ....

This not a typical action school drama

Story/Production: 9.5/10:


What a unique story of highschool student fights for his bullies. This Tv series shows lots of layers of being a student and a son(not like the other school theme dramas I watched before.


They adding romance to make a spice in the story but it didn't help to buildup good tension in the story. It getting worse.) They don't need element of romance here, just friendship and realistic problem of teenager is enough for this show.

The action scenes is superb its feel so natural and choreography is great, not too much blood but in right amount not like other action dramas, because of too much blood Its feels hard to watch it.

The bullying here is right thing to show for a bullying type of drama. Its not exaggerated.

What I like more about this series is the main character Sieun because even bullies and a politician has a higher advantage than him, he always find a solution to make himself in upperhand. To being a static character to dynamic character because his friends influence and became best version of himself by applying all what he learned in his friend. That is so great!!

Acting: 1Mil/10😭😭😭

All the actors portrayed their character roles.
They are right choice for their roles especially Park Ji Hoon, man his so great in acting.

All his expression is good, Its feels like his both main protagonist and the villian in the same time because of his aura giving in this show. His visuals so too good in very action scenes.

Because of this show a became fan of his works. I amazing how he evolved and improved so well in his acting career.

Conclusion:

I rewatched it for 5 times and I cried a lot. This show became one of my unforgettable shows I watched. Thank u for giving me this feeling I never get for a long time.

It's a really unique story and every scene leaves you satisfied and wanting more.

I was planning to watch it for several months and I regret hesitating cause it's truly a masterpiece. 
- The story is really interesting. There's two major parts so you won't be bored if you don't like slow-paced shows. MC always had a clear goal and always achieved it.
- The actors are astonishing. Everyone really suits their roles.
- The friendship. It goes so deep, there's so many levels to it and all those levels are gonna break you heart and you gonna love it.
-I enjoyed the fight scenes a lot! It might be not pleasant for some people but i think you know what you doing starting this show. Once again it's really satisfying to watch them fighting.

The first week after watching this I cried just cause of seeing some weak hero clips.
So to sum up I'm in love and totally gonna rewatch this show.
P.S.: DO NOT read the webtoon. It's a totally different story and you might get obsessed cause it's awesome.

Was entertaining

Loved it soo much!! Started reading the webtoon two years ago and was too excited to hear it was gonna be made into a kdrama. There were some things where when I was watching the drama, I got confused on who was playing who (except for the three main) cuz I was soo used to their English names 😅😅 and I swear their was never a female involved? Or am I tripping?! I don’t remember the first episodes like that. 😅😭 But, I mean I get why they would change things, like Stephen being kicked, instead of being pushed off a roof 💀 that would’ve been soo traumatic 😖😭 overall it was good it gets better when Gray goes to the high school, more characters are introduced. Can’t wait to see who plays Eugene, Ben, Gerard, and Rowan (to name a few).

As someone who has been a fan of Jihoon as an idol for a while, I am so glad I got to watch him reach his fullest potential as an actor 🫶🏼 He did such an amazing job portraying Sieun, i felt his every emotion through the screen…his sadness…his resentment…his happiness. He is so so good at depicting human emotions through his expressions.

As for the series itself, I never expected it to end the way it did (which was honestly devastating), and definitely could be avoided if some better decisions were made (I am looking at you Beomseok) Nevertheless, there is a deeper message that only such an ending could’ve painted.

Drama escolar curtinho (apenas 8 episódios) baseado numa webtoon. O tema é a violência escolar. Achei bem violento e gráfico (a cena da cortina ainda me assusta). Mas é um drama interessante. A vítima do bullying começa a revidar a violência sofrida e as coisas vão escalonando ao extremo. Nesse processo o protagonista acaba fazendo dois amigos, mas no final mesmo essa amizade acaba em tragédia.

Mas mesmo o final sendo um tanto trágico, a jornada é interesse e te mantém presa até o final. Porém uma coisa que me irritou profundamente foi a intromissão do gângster na briga entre os garotos, sinceramente para mim pareceu algo para "encher linguiça", talvez uma desculpa narrativa para justificar a aproximação da Young Yi do grupo dos garotos.

Também não sei se era intencional, mas notei um certo clima "de interesse amoroso" entre os personagens. O fato do Oh Beom Seok ter surtado tanto porque o Ahn Soo Ho não adicionou ele no Instagram mas adicionou a Youngi Yi, me pareceu que ele tinha um interesse para além da amizade pelo Ahn Soo Ho. Fora que eu tenho meu próprio ship que é o Ahn Soo Ho com o Yeon Shi Eun. hehehe...

No geral gostei bastante. Da forma como terminou parece que há possibilidade de uma 2 ª temporada e estou torcendo para que tenha mesmo.
