Akiko lives with her mother, but suddenly her mother passes away. Since then she quits her editing job and takes over her mother's small restaurant. At the restaurant there's only two items on the menu: sandwich and soup. ~~~ Based on the novel "Pan to Supu to Neko Biyori" by Yoko Mure.

Same main actress, same genres, same vibe !
(Both also feature Motai Masako).

These two stories revolve around a woman who starts running a restaurant on her own but quickly gets to work and live surrounded by loving people. The main differences I see are that Kamome Shokudo is shorter (as it is a movie) and is set in another country : Finland.

These two are short slow paced- beautifully written - slice of life dramas who focus on female leads and their way to renew their life. They have the same relaxing, nostalgic, instropective, a little bit sentimental aura.

Short, quirky dramas about single, middle-aged women running a business are like a cup of warm tea on a cold day. In both cases, they star Kobayashi Satomi and are directed by Matsumoto Kana. Quaint scenery, the presence of nature, and of course the excellent Motai Masako in a supporting role. One can't go wrong watching one when they've enjoyed the other.
