A Predicament of Human Psyche, A Story Potraying Loneliness, Death and Ephemeral Friendship.
A transient friendship: interactions momentary of confidence and console. Pertrubing reflection on vicious cycle of human dilemma, the heightening helplessness; dread from the perpetual loneliness consuming the will to live; the need to exist. The conversations they had I can count them: the stroll, the closed restaurant, 7 eleven, the hotel room, the lobby and the telephone call. I find them absolutely endearing and engaging. The inevitable departing adds significance to the exchanges too I guess, oddly comforting but the desolate narrative pertains.
"Everyone here at this hotel was just like me. Just as lost, Just as lonely. It's the first time in my life I didn't feel alone. After that...I didn't need to die. But, I still didn't want to live..so I just stayed here."
Relatable and relatable. The constant fraught and ennui, dissatisfaction with life, efforts sluiced in vain, longing for company, a place to belong, to find a state of tranquility. Even the indifferent but a defense mechanism kinda notion of Zhi-Hao resonates with me.
Simple storytelling, focused camerawork with enhanced grading, cool color scheme along with strumming guitar that goes off when the characters speak. It was creeping with a nuance of hope admist the eminence of the inviolable end. Everything was brief yet did not feel scanty or messy. It had a purpose and it concluded reaching it.
